I don't know if someone already mentioned this (sorry if they did). The triostar you got is actually a "magic star." You can tell because of the white speckling on the leaves. The regular triostar doesn't have that. Makes it extra special. And $12.99 is a great price for that plant.
Wow!! You got some beauties...and at some really great prices!! I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it...but, I am pretty sure that is a Stromanthe Magic Star...the Stromanthe Trio Star typically has much more white on the upper portion of the leaves. I have a silver bay that has been with me for about 3 years now...I love him...he is absolutely beautiful and so easy to care for!
If you haven't repotted your orchid yet, you might consider waiting. The orchid-obsessed people I've talked to say to wait until the blooms drop, bc supposedly it can lose the blooms prematurely if repotted at the wrong time. Oooh great Alocasia Maharani! Mine has been really rewarding to grow, I hope yours is similar. Lovely video, as always! :)
Beautiful finds!! And yes please show us your outdoor progress when you start ☺️ my in-laws have HUGE elephant ears in their garden every year in KS, I’m sure yours will just flourish at your place too!!
So happy watched until the very end, cause I kept wondering what plant was in the background. IT IS INSANE AND SO GORGEOUS! Allowing myself to be a “little” jealous! 🥰😍
I can totally relate with having your plants in some kind of bag. My Lowe's cashier looked at me weird when I asked for a bag to cover my houseplants. It was freezing outside 🤗
I'm not sure if you remember, but I am the person who suggested a potting bench on your patio when you first moved in. I personally, would love to see you transform the back yard and fill it full of beautiful things. Outside gardening and house plants are the best combo!
if you want LOTS of elephant ears: eddou/edo/taro at the grocery store is the same plant. 1.28$/lb for elephant ear bulbs. pick the small round ones, they grow best im told. trying it this year so excited!
I love my Maharani you really need to feel it to appreciate it , I scratch it with my nails and it’s that tuff - love the color too and not expensive but very exotic !
Ohh!! Stretching out from the orbifolia!! 🙌🏼 I have all of those and these are my tips (I’m near Seattle FYI): Zebrina: needs more water than any of my other marantacea. Leaves will curl when they’re really mad. Lol. Mine is potted in DeLaTanks 😉 Maybe add some vermiculite if you have some. White Star: spider mite MAGNET!! But so worth the beauty of it’s foliage. Also potted in DeLaTanks Magic Star stromanthe: awesome grower!! Droops when thirsty. I keep mine in mostly coco chips.
Welcome to the midwest!! Family Tree and Suburban Lawn and Garden are my favs!! Both have the most awesome staff who are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to answer any question, no matter how silly it may be!! I HIGHLY recommend both to anyone in the KC area! Cheers!
We crave colors in the winter months . I make quilts and I choose those more rich color in winter. I’m just starting a collection since it’s become so much fun with an entire communitys of people everywhere. It’s amazing. Love the plants you got! Very sweet haul. Thank you 🪴
I have a good collection of prayer plants of the various types and stromanthe are definitely one of the heartier varieties of prayer plant IMO. Also if you want to avoid having to constantly buy distilled water for your humidifier, I'd recommend you look into an evaporative humidifier. They have a wick in them and use that, with a fan, to distribute moisture into the air. Aircare is one brand I know of (and the brand I have 2 evaporative humidifiers from) that I always recommend to people looking for good humidifiers. One of mine has a 6 gallon tank so it can run for 24 hours (or longer if it's not super dry out) with no problems and keeps my super dry apartment between 50-60% humidity.
All I could think of while watching this is from your podcast where Adam talks about Calatheas where he says they are to look at but not bring home from the nursery 😂😂😂
Yah!! #1, having girlie girl time is IMPERATIVE! I am so glad you went out with Moria(h)! Ya know...I gotta say I ALWAYS feel refreshed after meeting a girlfriend out & about. The pandy definitely has me missing regular things!! Your plants~every one look luscious & full & very healthy!!! Big Smiles to you!!!
Love your haul! That stromanthe magic star is just amazing! I was so happy to see an orchid too. I actually got into orchids first years ago before I got into houseplants and they still have a special place in my heart! I have now over 300 but to be fair many are babies 😅. You can totally do it! Phals usually do really well in orchid bark along with the other substrates you mentioned or even in sphagnum moss too it all depends on your watering and environment :). You could totally work your way up to a paphiopedilum (aka lady slipper) which is the orchid bloom you saw at the nursery here!
Family Tree nursery is amazing!!! It’s one of my favorites even though I don’t live in that state anymore. I always go when visiting friends in KC. The huuuuge monstera in the last shot has tons of aerial roots hanging down everywhere
Really nice haul!! 😍 Lots of goodies, love the Maharani, I have one about that size. When I saw the Watermelon Pep, I wondered if you would get it. Remembering you said, you missed it. Glad you got another one an at good price. 💚😃 It would be fun too see what you do with your yard when it warms up.
Of course we want to see you do your outside space too! Working in my gardens is a whole new level of metal health help for me, I started last year and can not wait for this spring! I already have ordered plants to be here in March!!!
Oh my that was a great haul, love the Silver Bay. Would love to watch you transform your yard. I love doing outside flowers and plants. I watch Garden Answers with Laura she is fantastic
If you’re ever in St. Louis you should check out Maypop, Garden Heights, and Rolling Ridge! The first two are on the smaller side, but all three are some of the best that STL has to offer lol!
im laughing at your aglaonema story because i did the same thing with my aglaonema sparkling sarah. my original one is still alive and all... but having an extra lush one could never hurt
I can't wait to see how you expand plants into your yard!! I love my elephant ears and am going to be venturing into something other than the green variety outside. We will see how it goes!
Aah the alocasia maharani is at the top of my wishlist!😍😍 But I‘ve never seen it in person🙈 Also my calathea whitestar is one of my favorites, such an elegant plant🥰
Hi Becca! Your Calathea is actually a Magic Star, not a Trio Star. It is still absolutely stunning, but the Trio Star has much more white, as well as pink, in addition to the green on top of the leaf. I cannot wait to see what you do with your garden outside!
Wow great haul Becca! They had a really nice selection. Just an FYI- I've been surprised to find how cold sensitive my aglaonema area. They've all been brought inside my house this winter. Looking forward to when our freezes are over and they can go back outside.
Loved this!!! GOODLUCK with the calathea! You got this!!! Stromanthe was gorgeous I would have been sold on that too!! I cannot wait for your next video and that gorgeous tree 🤩🤩
If you get back to KC go to the Family Tree in Overland Park. It’s their flagship and it’s amazing! There are some other great spots too if you want reccs.
Family Tree Nursery is beautiful! I believe you may have a stromanthe magic star, which is at the top of my wish list! *anxiously waiting for my lunch break so I can go grab one*
Awesome haul! Wish I had ANY kind of nursery nearby, I'm in Page, AZ, so Flagstaff is closest one at just over 1.5 hours away :( The other orchid shown in the intro was a Paphiopedilum. Cattleya are also good ones to try (they're your typical 'corsage orchid' - I actually find them to be easier than most other orchids - even easier (for me) than Phalaenopsis.
Yay! I am a teacher and I love early morning uploads to watch and listen to while I get ready for my wfh day! I am a new subscriber and I am loving your channel 😊
Too funny... I just bought a calathea whitestar from Planterina.com and a Zabrina from Home Depot. Must be in the air. lol I would totally love outdoor videos. I have 3 outdoor garden boxes and grow some flowers and some fruit, berries, and vegis. So I would love to see all that kind of content. I watch Pam's Pretty Plants all the time too and she also shares her outdoor garden, I LOVE it! Thanks so much, You are my fav!
I was suffering with white dust too from my humidifiers... its calcification of the minerals in your water. At any rate, I found a vast improvement by purchasing levoit water purification pitchers and only using filtered water from the pitchers for my humidifiers... the water is also very tasty (not sponsored 🤣)
Yes I love my Maharani Alocasia. I got mine just before Christmas off of etsy. It had 2 leaves and 1 died but a baby leaf is starting to sprout out. The texture is amazing. I think with shipping I paid around 35.00. Yours is fuller adore beautiful and you probably paid less but I still love mine. I would love to see lots of step by step videos of you creating your landscaping.
Also completely forgot how stunning the white star and magic star you picked out are! Last but not least, sorry not sorry for influencing (enabling) you!
regarding the orchids, the one you showed (2:58) but didn't buy is paphiopedilum american hybrid....and it is much easier to grow than phalaenopsis... at least in my experience, mine is reblooming now, and most phalaenopsises died .. it can take some overwatering (likes to be a bit moist), doesn't need tone of light... it can be planted in bark and spagnum... maybe try once
You should check out the Jungle House in Lawrence, KS. Bit of a drive for you but worth it. I used to be the manager there and when covid passed will pick back up leading a Black Girl Plant Club that I used to run. some of the cool stuff they have rn are philo giganteum, alocasia silver dragon (we had the dragon scale but those got bought up so quick), and a new shop plant philo stenolobum.
I really hope some of the local nurseries here in St. Louis will carry your soil eventually! Maypop would be a great one to try. I hope to see some St. Louis nurseries on your channel eventually as well! Also, Just a note that I have never had any issues with the cold on my plants. I don’t think a few seconds from the store to the car will kill them or hurt them. It’s definitely possible but I wouldn’t worry so much about it. I would hate for you to miss out on getting a plant for that reason
Yes, would love to see you transform your yard.
😁
YES! Am I too late???
Oh are you leaving us hanging with this monster in your background?! 🙈 I thought I missed something! 😅 Looking forward to hear/see more about/of it! 😍
LOL you'll see on tuesday! hehe

100% we want to see the outdoor projects!!
😍👍🏼
I don't know if someone already mentioned this (sorry if they did). The triostar you got is actually a "magic star." You can tell because of the white speckling on the leaves. The regular triostar doesn't have that. Makes it extra special. And $12.99 is a great price for that plant.
Yes I would LOVE to see what you do with your yard!! I also want to start planting outside but I’m overwhelmed!! 🤍🤍🤍
Yay!!! 🥰
I would like to see the transformation. I myself love my outside garden as much as my house garden 🌻🌹
Doesn’t plant shopping put a person in a good mood. Very nice. Yes, would love to see videos on your outdoor space. 😊
I was also thinking it’s a magic star- so pretty!!
Agreed.
that hoya selection at the end of the plant montage 😩😭 so gorgeous... i wish my greenhouses in canada had the same type of selections!!
It was so amazing!! They were a bit expensive but good to know they’re there :)
If you’re ever in Lawrence KS you need to check out Jungle House!! Their plants are so beautiful and the staff is so so nice!
Yes! I live in Lawrence and she really needs to check out Jungle House
Yeaaa. I would love to see videos of you working on your yard! Play with some native plants too!
Beautiful finds!! And yes please show us your outdoor progress when you start ☺️ my in-laws have HUGE elephant ears in their garden every year in KS, I’m sure yours will just flourish at your place too!!
Oooooohhhh the Alocasia!!!! So pretty!! That's so exciting, they're very hard to get here in Europe and expensiiiiiivveeeeee
So happy watched until the very end, cause I kept wondering what plant was in the background. IT IS INSANE AND SO GORGEOUS! Allowing myself to be a “little” jealous! 🥰😍
It's so crazy to hear you talk about places where I live! I'm doing a plant day this weekend and planned on going to these same places ☺️
I can totally relate with having your plants in some kind of bag. My Lowe's cashier looked at me weird when I asked for a bag to cover my houseplants. It was freezing outside 🤗
Big box stores usually have paper for plants by the check out, so if you go don’t forget to package up your plant.
Definitely yes to showing your outdoor transformation! I enjoy watching Tropical Plant Party in St. Louis area. His backyard is amazing!
I'm not sure if you remember, but I am the person who suggested a potting bench on your patio when you first moved in. I personally, would love to see you transform the back yard and fill it full of beautiful things. Outside gardening and house plants are the best combo!

never thought about that!! definitely will give it a try
I’m in KC, and I love getting to watch you shop my local stores!

It's so good!

At 10:23 when the plant is just covering your entire face and it’s just a voice behind the plant, idk why that made me laugh so hard! Loved the haul!!
I'd love to see your new garden space.
Aah the alocasia maharani is at the top of my wishlist!😍😍 But I‘ve never seen it in person🙈 Also my calathea whitestar is one of my favorites, such an elegant plant🥰
Nice plant haul and nice silver bay. Very full!

I literally just got my first orchid today because Ashley had been getting me into them & it’s even tinier then yours it’s so cute 🥰
I love the Silver Bay and yes I want to know what the big plant in the corner behind you is
Family Tree Nursery is beautiful! I believe you may have a stromanthe magic star, which is at the top of my wish list! *anxiously waiting for my lunch break so I can go grab one*

You need the color w/ the Midwest gray weather. I feel ya.

Family tree is one of my favorites! You should definitely check out Larry’s Nursery in Riverside if you haven’t yet 😊
Oooh yes that’s on the list!!
Would love to see you do your yard! I wanna do the same at my house this year!
We just had a haul too, it's like therapy! And those glasses are everything!
3:07 getting hella Mulan vibes from the music... with all the strength of a raging fire...mysterious as the dark side of the mooooon...
YES love Mulan
You should check out the Jungle House in Lawrence, KS. Bit of a drive for you but worth it. I used to be the manager there and when covid passed will pick back up leading a Black Girl Plant Club that I used to run.
some of the cool stuff they have rn are philo giganteum, alocasia silver dragon (we had the dragon scale but those got bought up so quick), and a new shop plant philo stenolobum.
Oh wow that silver bay is so awesome. I think mine caught a draft before we turned on the heat. It's down to one stalk with three leaves. 😭
I really hope some of the local nurseries here in St. Louis will carry your soil eventually! Maypop would be a great one to try. I hope to see some St. Louis nurseries on your channel eventually as well! Also, Just a note that I have never had any issues with the cold on my plants. I would hate for you to miss out on getting a plant for that reason
I would LOVE to see videos of your landscaping process 💚🌳🌷🌲🌺
the stromanthe is actually a magic star, not a triostar! but i have one and i am absolutely obsessed with mine.
