The reason why trades do better than single issues is because single issues no longer have decent amounts of plot progression. It's crazy how comics have gone from $1 for a self contained single issue story to $5+ for five beats, and the story takes a year of issues to be told. Issues are just bad value.
Happy Otto got some recognition. I will never look at otto the same way since he was Superior Spider-Man. Even though hes back to being Doc Ock, it was poetic that the reason he gave peter back his body in the first place was cause Otto admitted he was not the Superior Spider-Man cause he did not risk his life to save a child. But in the end, he did sacrifice himself to save a child. So without him knowing, he just proved to himself that yes, he truly is the "SUPERIOR SPIDERMAN".
my mom was a MASSIVE comics nerd (i think she said her favorite superhero was Dazzler, but she had all kinds of stuff..,.i def remember crushing on Grunge from her Gen13 comics). Everything you mentioned is why I'm a Thor fan today. I read the Mutant Massacre tie-ins by Walt Simonson, but it was Jason Aaron, Rick Remender, Jonathan Hickman, and the MCU that made me care about Thor as a character. Hel, Thor is right up there with Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, Avengers, and Justice League as one of the comics I own the most issues of. Let that sink in.

I'm a Swamp Thing fan so I'm biased, but between the New 52 series and the TV series it was a very good decade for that character. Also managed to get a Walmart series along with the likes of Bats and Supes, and a DC Zoom book. Things weren't looking that great for him in 2009 after two failed recent Vertigo series. Big improvement!

Idk I feel like some of those characters had an impact, but was it positively? I don’t think so. Harley, Deadpool, & Batman are characters I really do love but get so tired of having DC/Marvel shoving them down my throat.
I don't like Carol Danvers simply beacause of how people turned her into. I don't dislike the female push in comics, Ms Marvel, Gwenpool, Harley, etc are GREAT characters! But, how the writers handled Captain Marvel outside of her comics, how they say you are a sexist mysogynistic homophobe when people say they aren't interested in her books. How they SHAMED us for feeling like she is becoming more and more a mouthpiece than an actual character... really soured my opinion of her. And, the worse part is, I love the concept of her being Marvel's superman, their symbol of hope and a good role model. Except... she's kinda not? Look no further than Civil War 2 where she is honestly a tyrant, a horrible person. Her MCU counterpart is bland at best and hateable at worse. I hate how she just feels arrogant, how "better" she acts compared to others, and she didn't ecen developed, she is the same from her first appearance to the end of the movie. So, I just agree to disagree. At the very least I am grateful that we got Ms Marvel from her, but, just looking at what the character became in a vacuum? I despise her. But like I said, MY opinion, I agree to disagree.
Ummm...you should actually read Liss' Panther run. It was actually great and in many ways better than Coates's first few years on the book. Many people dismissed it but Liss actually mined all the storytelling avenues a depowered, street level T'Challa had to offer.
So THAT'S why people keep insisting "SJW" comics fail despite them working! They're bought through trades! THat makes sooo much more sense^^ I typically buy trades for my comics rather than issues. I always found it puzzling that people trying to show examples of SJW always shew panels out of context. But if they're reading from issues instead of treads, that does make more sense...

I can live with this list... one other new character I really enjoyed this decade was doctor aphra from the star wars series. I'm not sure if I ever read a whole series about such a likeable asshole character :D ...and it's just fun watching her dodging every chance of redemption and every time you think she really fucked up she somehow plays her cards right to get away with it... plus her droid sidekicks are amazing. (I just really enjoy her series)
