In UK, the LC Prado is available in a two seats commercial configuration. It's more handy as a starting canvas for a tourer, with cheaper taxes applied.
No Ronny, your off on the battery voltage. A half charged AGM/lead acid is around 11.8-12 volts. You can go lower, but it drastically reduces the cycle life. But you can. (Use accordingly in emergency) but by the time you hit about 0% your going to be at 10.5 volts (or less). However, lithium will maintain the "full charge" voltage of 13v till the battery basically flatlines. However, lithium is more sensitive to extreme temperatures. (Your summer heat and my Canadian winter) and they don't deliver high amp surge power like a AGM/lead acid, hence why they're not great for starting or powering a winch. But yea all around, for this Prado build, it's perfect.
So funny how you pretend to see something on the Green Screen 😂I love how you always keep trying out new things and keep improving the content! It must be great to work in your team!
I’m currently watching this series and loving it. One thing I don’t love though is when you say an expensive thing “costs a little bit”. Tell us what things cost please! This is an information video, right? Right! Thanks again
I have the Type X Pros from STEDI on my Ironman bar and I love them out of the other brands I have used on my Other 4x4s I think STEDI are the best for light spread
Ronny and Chris, this is looking schmick! Amazing what can be achieved with a few experts and pretty deep pockets. On a wagon, how do you run power and antenna cable to the roofrack without drilling holes in the roof of your pride and joy?
Ronny please give us a cost of this build ( not so much individual parts and labour costs but an overall price would be greatly appropriated ) . With the 300 series being so expensive now getting a Prado with a similar set up has got to be the option. Thanks
All well and good until the flux capacitor runs low and you end up short fusing the injector relays which will most likely cause oil to seep into the radiator brackets.
How did you clear the guide marks from the rear camera? I have been holding off getting the Kaon relocation bracket because the few videos that show footage after look like the lines point up towards the clouds! (We have a late 2018 model) Top vid by the way 👍👍
Hey Ronny. I desperatly looking and can't really find, Prado's builts that retain the 7 seats. Yes, I will eventually will get a trailer. But I would like to set up the Prado, as a family weekender. It's 7 of us. I am in the planning stage, trying to figure out equipment, etc.. I have no idea, where to put a 12v system and fridge.. everything else probably will go on the roof.. struggling to plan/design this.
Wow if you need all 7 seats there is not much left in GVM for you. Technically you might not even legally be able to bolt anything to the vehicle. I think towing is your only answer and a GVM upgrade might allow for roof rack and front bar if lucky
Setup is looking awesome. Unrelated to the power setup, but what's the roof load rating on this with the frontrunner on? It's like pulling teeth trying to get an answer off Toyota for the roof without bars.
Toyota specify 100kg when using a 3 bar system. So I'm going by that rule of thumb with my arb baserack. 100kg less 25ish kg for the rack and mounts, 75kg to play with.
@@colinlam5502 yeah, that's my issue. I'm looking for the roof capacity without the Toyota bars which isn't disclosed anywhere. I'd be really surprised if the roof itself was only rated to 100kg but I haven't seen anything official to state otherwise
@@pkayyyy472 I agree that it's likely much more. Regardless, whatever it is, I think a good rule of thumb is to reduce what you carry up top in general. You see folks with a spare tyre, multiple jerry cans, storage boxes, ice boxes etc.
can you tell us how the sheepskin covers go with the heated and ventilated prado seats?( thinking of doing the same) BTW, also spoke to our local auto engineer ( NSW) it costs approx $550 to do 'engineering' paperwork when removing seat/s in the prado, to keep it legal/insurance.
Maybe things are different in Wait Awhile they are a long way of the rest of the country I bought it up in the original episode and got nothing back ( maybe the head is in the sand)
I have a very similar build as this, a Lexus GX. I removed both second and third row seats. I am curious how much it weighs? Once I load food, water, beer and camp gear I go over GVWR.
Two things: I neither like the Redarc BMS system nor the EGON. The reason for this: First: If the BMS system fails out in the bush you're stuck! No car charging, no solar charging and if you go to a powered campsite you can't even recharge your battery. For me an independent system from each other is the way - no fancy BS. Quality wise Redarc is good but even that can fail. Second: The Egon - Why on earth does an electrician come up with screw connectors where cable can come loose on corrugation? I cannot tell the times how often I had to tighten electrical screws in my life due to them coming loose. But maybe there is some wisdom I've no idea...Would be interested to know! Otherwise - great channel, Ronny! You know your 4WD stuff - stick to it! ;)
Lithium batteries have many advantages and I converted recently for my 4 month trip around OZ. Had quite a few problems all relating to the inbuilt Battery Management System playing up. It was from a reputable known Aussie company and I’m still waiting for repairs of the battery. Seriously thinking about going back to AGM for complete reliability. Has anyone else had problems with their lithium BMS?
I don’t understand why you guys continue to use a handle unit for your uhf. Why wouldn’t you install a ptt (push to talk) on the steering wheel and use the internal speakers like using hands free
Watching this series is making that much more painful that we here in the USA can't get the Prado. And, NO, a farkled up, overpriced Lexus GX is a poor substitute! Damn you Toyota! WHYYYYYYY won't you sell it here!?
In UK, the LC Prado is available in a two seats commercial configuration. It's more handy as a starting canvas for a tourer, with cheaper taxes applied.
With Chris' participation, your cinematography has improved substantially. Great teamwork.
That Prado is awesome! Love that electrical setup.
Thanks for the work Ronny

Like I was saying just getting to the rough points. If you go into too much detail you loose most people.
Really loving this build! Can't wait for the Kitchen!

I’d like to know that too, no-one mentions that.
The cable runs up the inside of the rear door seal. No holes drilled required
@@Ronny_Dahl hmm, interesting. Thanks Ronny
for my roof light bar on the Prado 150, used a cable channel in the edge of the windscreen to run the cable to the roof

Sorry but who is the UHF from, an this is a great build men ,the bride and my self are enjoying very much, Stay safe and have a great Xmas.

Great build - but it’s 2021/22 - why are you guys still using usb a and not usb C charging ports or wireless?

Whatever the roof rating is which is 120-150 kg depending on who you ask. 120kg would be the safe bet

We will be pursuing this once the build is completed. Reason being we would be putting it multiple times rather than just once.

I’ve had no issues with lithium when it’s managed via an external BMS or BCDC charger.
Precisely why i would recommend Victron products....
Are you no longer affiliated with PDP
you're the man dude.
Hey guys I’m in Brisbane and am building a Prado does anyone know where I could find a quality workshop that could do this electrical setup?
Can't you achieve the same thing the Egon does with just a quality fuse box and just label things?
Blue sea safety hub.
Surprised a 150 a/hr battery is big enough for all that electrical stuff!
