Malcolm Douglas is a legend. This guy is legit. Wagon vs Ute --> Wagon won.
This should prove to be an interesting series. Love the wagons/ SUV's.
Loving your work Ronnie, been watching you for a long time and am excited for this build. Your experience is second to none and you've really stepped it up a level. Keep the awesome content coming!!!
The shopping, and soccer ball jokes were great... but lunch was next level.
Going to love this series as a wagon owner. 🤙Prado are a great vehicle.
Love the build series so much, I had a Tacoma “Ute” when the hills build started and I just got a 4Runner so now I’m excited to learn from the wagon build series. Great stuff!
Fantastic to see you have gone with KAON for the barrier. They're a great Aussie company manufacturing their gear locally.
I'd love to hear campfire stories about Malcolm Douglas. Very interesting build series guys.
That would be brilliant
Excellent idea for a series guys!! This is gonna be great. Some really useful stuff for us travelling photographers and tourers. 👏👏
Good one Ronny. I’m looking forward to this build. Comfort work and touring all in one. Good mission
Great that you are getting Heiner and Rob involved, they've done some cracking work on ASPW's motors.
Aspw = Andrew...?
@@Husqvarna575XP... St. Pierre White
@@Husqvarna575XP Yes, Andrew St. Pierre White of 4xOverland
@@cameronwood1994 Well, Andrew is a total different kind of person compared to ronny. His 78 was really great - but since he bought the 79 and stretched it, he thinks he knows everything better than Toyota.
@@Husqvarna575XP I don't get that impression, but then I've met him a number of times when he lived in the UK. Really nice bloke. He sold the 79 by the way, because he said he just didn't bond with it.
That's a real car modification planning! I like your process and attention to details Ronny. Nice work!
Prado owner myself!!! So awesome, cant wait to follow the series!!
G'day Ronny, looking forward to this build series, big thanks to Chris for allowing such in depth access to his vehicle
Haha!
This is simply brilliant! Thank you for this series! Firstly, it introduces the owner, his story, vision, passions, and needs. Plus, it goes a bit behind the scenes of your own channel, so to say. Secondly, lightweight concept in its proper sense. Maybe it's just my selection and/or youtube algorithms, but for my taste there are too many "perfect"/ "lightweight" builds, even from acclaimed overlanders/travelers, which are too complicated and heavily modified with form leading the function. Can't wait for the next episode
love this series. will follow closely!!
Love this. I will be following this.
Great channel, love these project builds 👍🏻
Great series Ron. Thanks for this.
This is going to be a great series. Pumped. 👍🏻
Very cool. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of this. I think I can get some ideas for my 4Runner.
great to see this series unfold
As always terrific video Ronnie. My ‘shopping trolley’ has clocked up 340k, did not miss a beat or get stuck when I did the Simpson in 2011 & I aim to do a full lap before I retire it post Bloody Covid. I love watching these builds & so pleased to see PCS & Klarmann Auto Solutions I only wish I lived in WA they are true professionals. Looking forward to the rest of this series
I have a wagon...waiting with baited breath! Already you've given me ideas...thanks!!
Looking forward to following this build. I have a 2005 120 that I need for remote work, Trying to keep the weight down myself, but not convinced in which way to go in some areas.
BTW a Prado just won in the Red Centre 4X4 comp.
Just got all the Kaon gear for my Prado120 after watching this, best mods ever! My pillows, towels will never fall out into the mud again!!!
I have my awning and shower tent on the quick release system.
Makes asking off gear so easy
Perfect timing! Picking up my LCP (controversial acronym) GXL tomorrow and wanting to do some lightweight mods (after getting to know the stock vehicle of course). Watching with great interest 👁👁
I've had a new prado for 9 months now. Tows our 19.6 ft caravan easy😉👍 I'm looking forward to watching more of this. taking out the back row seats is a great idea. 2 people don't need them. the security is why we chose the Prado over a ute..
Yooo legit awsome episode! Glad to meet a part of the behind the camera team!!! Lots channels don't give enough credit to the, dare I say, backbone of the media team. No discrediting anyone, but damn. A happy camera car and team equals a+++ Content. Yeeew!🤙
Sweet!! Pumped to watch this build. I am towards the end of a Lexus GX470 here in the states!
On the "odd occasion that you rock up late to camp" . LOL. It is expected from your team Ronny ! Picked up my VX Prado in July 2021, but lock down in NSW has kept it in the shed for the past few months. Looking forward to following this build
Exciting, cant wait to see this build
As a photographer and videographer who is looking to upgrade my 4x4 situation... I'm taking a very keen interest in this build!
Sick! I have the GX460 here in the US and love it
Good stuff, I'm especially interested to see how you go with keeping weight down. I'm already going through ideas in my own head for my wagon.
Looking forward to see the build
When’s Part 2 coming? Really keen to hear about suspension, tyre selection…
Nice! Of course, it was a little bit strange seeing the finished build behind you while you are still talking about the preliminary design features @5:00 ! :)
Best editing so far Ronny, lookin great. The haircut on the other hand...
Casting couch hey? Nice Ronny!
Perfect timing! Picking up my LCP (controversial acronym) GXL tomorrow and wanting to do some lightweight mods (after getting to know the stock vehicle of course). Watching with great interest 👁👁
Ah at last I have waited far too long for this one. Thanks RD
Casting couch Ronny 😂 love it and your videos mate 🤘
Following this build love the 120 platform. Gx470 owner so I'm a little biased. Good job Ronny
"I don't want to say it'll be game changer, but it'll change the game "🤣🤣🤣
😂
This is brilliant! In the process fo selling my trusty Pajero for a 150 Series, going to watch this build series to get pointers.
Already have the wagon door table in mind (Pajero came with one standard but not robust at all).
So good to get a background on your camera man .. true pro
hell yeah more prado vids. this is what im after. cheers
Prado great car, love the big fuel tanks. Most scary problem is fixing them on the run, A good working knowledge on the electronics is important, saying that they are reliable if you do regular maintenance. My ride is the old trusty landy Isuzu "County"
I can’t wait for this series!
It took me 4 months of solid thinking & daily comparisons, before I purchased my budget gear...it suits my needs, but you’ll always come across something you’d do differently the second time.
Great to a see a lightweight build, not just the usual how much heavy crap can I bolt on, do a gvm upgrade
Interesting project. 😃
I'm an aspiring cinematographer and I hope to get a similar rig someday. Cool content man.
Can’t wait for next episode, I’m one of the idiots that Owens a wagon and doesn’t have a drop down table yet 😂 great video
Owens lol
Ronny, you have to get one of these Prados :)
+1 for lithium batteries, saving 40lbs/18kg on my rig just by changing the stock battery to lithium! Got the biggest Antigravity Battery available
Stop promoting how good prados are. They were a well kept secret for so long.
congrats on getting over 400K subs, looking forward to the next "Ronny tries X 4wd" video
Nice work, Prado's are an understated platform for making a capable, affordable touring wagon
Affordable? Those things cost over double the average salary in the UK
Nice Content as usual.. Looking forward to EP 2. Whilst on the same, make it a point to review the LC300 once it arrives, taking it through its paces off-road.. Have you ever done a review of the LC200 ?
Won’t be in Aus for years !!
Very nice 😎👍
Great stuff, having a Kakadu I am keen to see the suspension upgrade as I'm wanting to do the same.
getting kakadu next week, let me know how u went with your upgrade, Ta
About time Prado build...😁😁👍
I'm at a similar mod stage on my 2015, I pulled the 3rd row rear seats out, weighed in at 51.5 kg, and also pulled out the second row left side seat weighed in at 26kg, will be interested watching to see how the mod upgrades take form!
I have a 2018 model and I’m starting to mod mine I have an Ironman bullbar and I have lifted the front to hold the weight of the bar and that’s It I am currently getting all my lights and coms together for my first upgrade
I’m going to be very interested in how you keep within the GVM with Margin for people, fuel and cargo. I loved my Prado but the weight built up very quick without going overboard on mods.
I just love my Prado, he's never let me down!
Ronny, I know you secretly love the Prado ;)
Noice shopping trolley!
I am currently doing a 2021 Prado build for my photography channel. Keeps all of my gear safe and is comfy doing it. Perhaps we should have a photography prado face off. Who will build the better prado? Me with absolutely no sponsors or you with experience and brand affiliations hahaha
Well done KAON
Very good topic, I applaud you for doing this as it opens ones eyes to other possibilities.
I need a vehicle to carry a disability scooter, would it work to use a Prado...including a loader?
Who knows but this offers a possibility!
Awesome
If you don’t need a rack you can go with quick release load bars. Will be a lot lighter and even easier to manage vs the front runner option.
Surely load bars cant carry 60KG offroad... see them all the time looks like disaster waiting to happen
@@Snook_ roof tents can be installed on roof bars. But please do your own checking.
@@krump743 it’s just a comment. If looking for quick release and lightweight there’s more than one option. But yeah if it’s already on the vehicle then doesn’t make much sense. 👍
RTT sounds like the GFC Superlite for extra light and quick release bracket.
Didn't know they sell/ship outside North America? Would be interesting of the delivered cost.
I brought a prado because of this video best chioce i have ever made
You bought a prado. Brought is bring in past tense.
I want Ronny to do a Fortuner build so badly 😢 Oh well, this is pretty close, maybe I'll get some tips. Looking forward to the series 👍
Mate what’s going on, waiting for episodes here. Very keen on this as I just got one.
Worked with Malcolm Douglas? Wow 😱 what a legend.
GoFast Superlite? I really hope they start selling them here, agree they look pretty revolutionary for lightweight setups!
Great makeover of the Prado - I have done a few of the mods, but cant afford all of the ones you both did!! One question, what is the brand of the back light that you place on the inside of the rear door in Part 3?
are you able to do a video prado vs everest sport and compare the two because i don't know witch one to buy my family i am using it for touring Cheers
That prado is giing to look so cool
I have a feeling I will love this project.
Arctic Trucks have repeatedly stated that by their 35 conversion, the Prado turned into one of the most capable off-road vehicles.
When’s Part 2 coming? Really keen to hear about suspension, tyre selection…
If you’re not towing or trying to supplement a small penis for a v8, Prado’s make all the sense in the world, especially when talking soft sand and economical touring, the Prado will win every time. Looking forward to the build Ronda 👍🏼
My backdoor opens up to the top, curious to see how to put a table there LOL
Evening Ronny, wondering if you're aware of any tracks heading east from Newman towards the NT, possibly Kaltukajara? And if you're planning on doing something like that anytime soon?
Interesting to see how the roof top tent perform on the 150 series as I thought the total weight of the roof rack & the RTT will exceed the maximum of load one can apply on the roof of the 4WD......... Bring it ON the game changer RTT 😮😮😮
Toyota, Toyota, Toyota, there is....another!
These are awesome platforms for building on, but why start with a VX if you want to go light weight? The GX comes with pretty much everything you need and nothing you don't... like the rear seats...
any chance you are willing to share where you were able to purchase the cargo barrier, ceiling storage and the table for the rear door? i have a gx460 and would like to add those to my setup. love the content! i just need someone to throw cash at me so i can get more mods o.O
great cars the prados
Expo west is this month, I which y’all could make the event
Hi, would you have any video covering air compressor for a prado? Which air compressor would you recommend for a prado ZR SWB 2013? Tks!!
Ronny, what shoes are you sporting? They look comfortable and maybe more practical camping than my steel-capped workboots.
Hey Ronny did you have the flat platform in the back custom made? Where from?
Chris worked with Malcom Douglas?!?!? Whoa.
Hi Ronny, I have a GXL Prado on order, our retirement travel wagon. I'd be interested what you think about GVM upgrades. I will be kitting out the Prado with Bull bar, dual batteries, tow bar and single drawer and fridge storage system. Will be towing a boat regularly and in future a 2000-2500kg caravan. I was thinking GVM upgrade but I have been put off as too much wear and tear to other parts of vehicle. will a suspension lift and spring upgrade 100kg front and 300kg rear be better purposed and just be careful to not overload?
Will be interested to know if the rear door leaks dust. I’ve had a 120 and 150 and inevitably dust seeps in on the first dirt road. So annoying - otherwise awesome vehicles 🚗
I have a 120 series, did the Simpson etc and dust was ok considering
The FTF prado can be a good inspiration
