Just got the FoldApe delievered today only took 9 days. I put on a 1500 mah battery, unfortunately it's a bit heavy and hits 270g but cant beat the 15 minute flight time. GPS is trash lol. I did low power on disarm to try to help and still took a very long time to grab sats and didnt have the patience for it. I ordered a newer generation GPS module that has M10 on it with the same pinouts and dimensions, hoping that will help. Not like I really need the GPS except for some type of accidental failsafe but my video range is no better than the draknight is so I cant fly it very far anyway lol, pretty sure it's the Emax analog goggle I have even though I have 2 omnis installed. But does fly very nice and stable. Glad you reviewed it cause I really enjoy it.
@@ImJayZ MA. I replaced the GPS module a few days ago and flashed beta flight 4.5 and setup GPS rescue using Bardwells video. It locks on to sats in 30 seconds and returns home amazingly well
I mainly fly INAV now, but pretty sure, you can set betaflight vtx to use lower power on disarm. #1 reduces VTX power (i.e. keeps the vtx cooler and draws less power, and #2 causes less interference with the GPS until you 1st get a lock. Seems like once you get a GPS lock and get up in the air, GPS's seem to be able to generally deal with the higher vtx power. Of course everyone's mileage may very. I wire most of my GPS to run when the system gets 5vs from a USB connection, for that reason. I carry the speedy bee adapter with me, any of my quads that have those BN 180s gps struggle with GPS signal on start up. I just plug the speedy be adapter into the usb connection, gps & RX get power, but not the VTX. Then I just monitor telelemetry on the radio until I have a GPS lock then plug in the flight battery and we are off. Pain? Yes, but not as much a pain as watching the grass grow under your quad waiting for a GPS lock LOL
I got my newer fold ape it has elrs v3. Binds automatically no bind phrase or button pressing or firmware upgrades . Only catch was it wont bind with packet rate of 100 full or 33 something . I bought jumper elrs square nano tx with the 5 way menu button and screen . Any version of elrs v3 will bind with any other version 3 elrs. My fold ape gps got 29 satelights inside in a minute using usb for power . Cold start satelight lock inside 29 satelights real fast . Rssi was aux 12 . Arm was tx aux one but i had to use "auto" aux channel select in betaflight modes tab for arm to work . Everything else was same as other quads .
At 3:25 the carbon fiber prop holder is installed wrongly. Flip it so that the counter sunk is on top and the screw should be flush after installation of the props. Props will come off after awhile if this is not dealt with. Prop holder was installed incorrectly from factory. Best 4" quad out there. Extremely quiet, does not bother anyone and flies extremely well. Best of all it is so inexpensive compare to all the other brands. Cheers!
After buying the Draknight from your review and owning it a whole 3 weeks as my first drone I fail-safed into some woods and never found it (FPV noob problem and getting too arrogant at distance) . :( I ordered this one as a replacement despite the GPS flaws using your affiliate link yesterday.
If you ask any seasoned FPV pilot how many drones they have destroyed or lost (especially on buildings) the number would seem high to a new pilot. That is the joy of the FPV Hobby… you fly by the seat of your pants most days.

Hi I got 1 question: i buy a cetus x fpv kit and learn how to fly in acro mode, but now i want to buy 2nd fpv drone i think i buy cinelog 35 v2, dji integra and tbs tango 2. Do you think is it good set or no? If yes thank you, if no please tipe what do you recomend
If you can teach yourself how to add a model to the tango and also teach yourself how to BIND to receivers and also teach yourself how to configure a drone in BETAFLIGHT CONFIGURATOR, then it is a good set.
I have 2 sets . A set of 5 inch drones , a set of 6 inch drones , a set of 3 and 4 inch drones an whoops , and a set of walksnail not finished yet , and a bugs3 fpv and other toy grade fpv .
It appears to have the same gps module as one of my Eachine drones. That thing always takes 10-15 minutes to secure a gps fix the first time I run it after resetting everything
I was looking into building a custom 4" long range, but for the price this one is hard to beat! I would have loved to see a proper range test to see what you can really get out of this. Also being in Ottawa myself, it's fun to see you flying on the days I didn't dare step outside.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 as a noob, I crashed my drone due to losing video feed, I wasn't that far from the drone either. Have you or anyone else done a video on maximising analog video transmission? Is digital a lot better? As I have become more confident, I feel the range isn't great on the video feed.
Wouln't it take longer sitting there with the VTX and ELRS transmitting right above the GPS module ? Can you power up the Quad (using a USB power bank plugged into the Flight Controller) without the VTX transmitting ? Would this enable you to lock onto multiple sats quicker ? Just curious ? Thanks for a great review :)
Thank you for the review Captain. May sound like a stupid question 😅, but what did you used to lock the insta360 on the drone ? I see something black, Is it a zip tie ? Thanks !

Use a SpeedyBee Adapter 3, for those quads that power the GPS when a USB is connected to it. That should eliminate the VTX preventing catching sats. Then once you have a lock, then give the quad power via the main flight battery. Darwin puts those small GPS like the BN 180 the M8 in their quads. I have the Darwin 129, which is basically the same thing as the Tyro129, and better in every way except the GPS.
Is anyone else having issues with walksnail VTX overheating on this unit? It's scary to fly now because I never know when the video will suddenly shut down. I tried to minimize the time that the battery is on before taking off, I have enabled low power mode when disarmed and I have tried multiple batteries from 750 to 1250 with multiple discharge rates. I also reduced the VTX power to 200 without success. A few extra details: - I have a cinelog35 v2 also running walksnail that is not suffering from overheating - The bottom of the battery strap touches the VTX, not sure if this is contributing, but it's the default strap sent by them - Florida warm weather - Initially it would only shut down if I took too long to take off, or was hovering slow on the heavy battery, today it turned off even after doing a bunch of acro maneuvers - Usually after a few seconds on the ground it recovers the video signal - For the first few flights, I'd see a VTX warning and VTX temperature, I think the gauge might have died, or it disappeared after I updated betaflight/the vtx, I haven't been able to add it back on the OSD
If you get the analog version then it should work with the VR03 FPV Goggles. The radio you get depends on the RECEIVER you get in the drone. If you get an ELRS RECEIVER in the drone then you need an ELRS radio.
