Probably a little late now but the reason to tighten the screw when the car is at normal height is because the metal bushing insert is going to rotate when it is torqued before the car is lowered. This will drastically reduce the lifetime of the bushing.

@@chrisgermann6658 Before you even begin to loosen anything, take the wheel off and use a tape measure to read the distance between the centre of the wheel hub and top of the wheel arch, so when you're tightening things back up after replacing the arms, you can return everything back to factory specification.
Great vid, thanks for making. Do you know if the 85nm for the bolt and 100nm for the screw is the same for the F10 M5? I've changed the equivalent arm but don't think my garage followed this process and im getting some bad sounds
Its a torque to yield bolt, sometimes referred to as a stretch bolt. Not many people are aware, but the bolt that goes through the control arm that connects with the subframe is meant to be one time use bolt only. The 180 degree turn literally stretches the bolt in place. If you reuse the bolt, they will be weaker than designed to be.
Imchenged the parts and even most others and all the brakes in the front but there are still vibrations. I never had this problem in the last 33 year, 1000000mls and 30 cars.
hey there. I replaced the same parts at the dealer and the vibrations tend to happen again at higher speeds on the highway but they are minor. Any clue what that could be?
Have the wheel balance checked really good, these cars are very very sensitive to wheel balance and vibration issues above 45mph. I have had the same issue from time to time and every time I had them rebalanced (if correctly done) the vibration went away with no other change. It is a little frustrating but we do have a lot of poor roads and pot holes that I avoid the best I can but it takes a toll on them for sure. Just something to look at since some installers claim it was balanced and when I had another shop check them right after they were balanced they found they were still off and even a little will make a difference. Not all balancing machines are equal but if done right you will notice the difference immediately in the smoother ride.

It's my understanding that you need to tighten bushes only when the car is sitting on its wheels?
He jacked the arm up with the second jack when tightening the bushes.
@@lux-3001 does the arm need to be jacked all the way prior to final torque settings?
@@chrisgermann6658 somewhere in that area would be advisable
@@chrisgermann6658 Before you even begin to loosen anything, take the wheel off and use a tape measure to read the distance between the centre of the wheel hub and top of the wheel arch, so when you're tightening things back up after replacing the arms, you can return everything back to factory specification.

Great vid, thanks for making. Do you know if the 85nm for the bolt and 100nm for the screw is the same for the F10 M5?
I've changed the equivalent arm but don't think my garage followed this process and im getting some bad sounds
Why didn't you replace only bushings? They are available as a spare part.
I preferred to change the whole arm to also have the new external bush....
Why you turn 180 degree after tightening it? Thanks.
Warped rotors
Will this solve heavy steering wheel vibration when braking at high speeds?
If it's only while heavy breaking it's more than likely your brake rotors I would check for heat spot as it's a indicator or rotor warping
What do you think about 530/535d or petrol?
Not all balancing machines are equal but if done right you will notice the difference immediately in the smoother ride.
even if brakes and vibrate ?
Did it vibrate while driving or when breaking? Or both?
in both cases
Can I order the parts with your number in the description from bmw?
Thanks. Easy to follow and all steps included. Will be fun in 2 weeks when i will do mine
Thank You For Watching! :)
