I remember couple of years ago, I came close to falling for this scam. Someone sent me a 3k paycheck from so-called publishers clearing house on the mail then told me to call the when I receive the check. Well, I called them but the person who answered the phone sound very suspicious to me. He sounded like Jamaican or African to me me and gave me some shady instructions on what to do with this check. After I hung up, I had literally a gut feeling that something just didn't sound right to me and rubbed me the very wrong way about this. And after coming to a conclusion, I ended up using this phoney check to use it for my bird's cages to do their business on and just called it a day. Thank God I didn't fall for this.😄😄😄

This scam is worse than you think! My dad got caught up in it last year. The scammers will change the phone number so no one can get through. There were 8 different phone numbers in a matter of 15 days. I was there to help change the number to a local company, and make sure there were checks in place so it couldn't be changed by any other party. We actually called the Walmart and Walgreens in town to tell them to not sell gift cards to my dad and stepmom. It worked. To this day, there have been several attempts to change their address for receiving their SSI. That's the scammers still trying! Trying to tell my dad he didn't win, or it was a scam, didn't bother him. He was promised the same car. They always wanted more money. The phone rang non stop all day. He'd pick the phone up to make a call, and someone would be there, listening. It's bad!
She's 91, so her immediate Family is most likely all dead. Her Parents would have been around 111 so they're most likely dead, and, she might not have children

If only you could pinpoint the exact Vile Asshat that preys upon our senior citizens. ... and then give the victim's Grandson about 5 minutes alone with the POS, maybe these scams would slow down? Problem is, it's almost impossible to trace these scams to a single person. And if you were lucky enough to break thru all the channels of protection they hide behind, you'd likely learn that culprit isn't even in the same Continent, nevermind Country. It's so scary how they can manipulate the innocent so easily.

I am with PCH for over 7 years. I never missed one day. And I received scammer phone call and their message. They asked to pay 1% so they can release the check and asked where is my bank. I have a "Screamer" next to my phone. We are constantly getting these PCH winners, but when I pull the pin on this genius device and hold it up to the phone, 9 times out of 10, they hang up and do not call back. It is made to protect you when someone comes up to harm you when you are out, but works GREAT on these calls 😃
I have been dealing with the same person and I called the PCH COMPANY AND THE MESSAGE GAVE ME ALL THE INFO I NEEDED THAT helped me know that they are scammers. It's a shame that someone could steal from a elderly person.

My husband's Grandma was in this same position; she wanted SO badly to win PCH that when the scam began, she kept it all a secret until she'd already wired around $1.5k for the 'taxes' on the millions. She kept going for the scams and hiding it all - because she KNEW it was all fake, but wanted it to be true. Her recently deceased husband had kept her from these scams her whole life, but after that....well, she WON'T be stopped.
Publishing clearinghouse isn’t a scam but they do state that if you’re a winner multiple people try and call you to scam you out of money so be careful.
I got one of these Publisher's Clearing House calls recently and I knew PCH didn't operate that way so I turned on that scammer with a foreign accent with a flurry of curse words calling the scammer what he really is, A SCAMMER and then hung up.
I just received a call from Todd Sloan PCH saying I won $250,000 and a Mercedes. I tried to reverse lookup the number and I was surprised that it came out of New York where the Publishing Clearing House resides. It sounds too good to be true. Could this be a scam any thoughts?

I got some e-mails telling me I won and at least four times. I know better when I look it up on the internet and saw they didn't let you know that way. Someone even got in my e-mail and wanting to cancel out of search for the big prize. I didn't lose any money those.

It's a nightmare. Person thinks they won millions of dollars and car but they have to send money to an address to pay for the taxes. That address belongs to a previous victim of this same scam who is acting as a mule to recover the money they had lost knowing they are helping the scammer steal more from other victims. I have called the police, the FBI and anyone else I can and the USA will do NOTHTING to stop this. I call up scammers to waste their time (scambaiting) and I'll tell you this: if I play around with such a scammer and send magazine clipping instead of cash to the address the Scammer has Jamaican people living in the country who who go to the mule and bash their brains out for lying. It's very sad: but the authorities cannot do a thing about it. Turning victims into partner / mules.
