Absolutely love the game. It feels like an indie game, because the package it puts together seems so niche that I can't believe a Triple A dev gave it a green light. Feels like a passion project for sure. Capcom even made a prequel puppet stage show for it. Do look it up!
Planning on buying this after trying the demo. I love that there are teams in Capcom that venture into different artistic game dev ideas. I also really enjoy TD games and the music of this game and its art is just magnificent Edit: I bought it and I'm 35 hours in. The game is superb! I haven't finished it yet but I am already hoping for a sequel in the future!
This game feels like what capcom was gonna do with rampage mode in mh rise and they made a whole beautiful game around it Like so many things cross over and this game feels like it came out no where and they dropped rampage in sunbreak but just coincidence
I was sold on the demo immediately and I really liked the twist on what essentially is a strategy RPG! I can't help but want this for something like a Fire Emblem entry in the future but I will be picking this up ASAP. Too bad there won't be a physical PS5 release.

I'm glad to hear about the quality of life issues actually. Back in the ps2 days they were so busy doing cool games that some times there was no time for QoL. Remember old MH or even the lack of shortcuts for itens in Okami? I guess the reason why we have so much quality of life stuff these days is because devs keep using the same old blueprint for their games. Like, the dash ability was an upgrade in megaman X LOL
Sorry but the UI is not difficult in this game at all. Half of the things you’re complaining about not being are actually in the game… You don’t need to go to every villager to assign a role. You can scroll between them all by going to one of them. You can leave villages by a menu, you don’t need to manually exit each time. You don’t need to go to every village after every stage to get crystals - that’s not something you need to do at all.
I'm sure it's a solid game, but I don't agree with the "appropriate pricing for a AA game" when quite a few AA games released in the 30 to 40 price range, and they are much better in my opinion. They should have lowered the price, and they most likely will soon after launch, as I don't see much discourse about this game.
Tbh. AA is everything under AAA Where is AAA? 70-80 baseline. So by that logic is 50-60 is AA wich would be that game. Or Remnant 2 for example. If its worth? I dunno. Havent played it obv. But it seems better than most AAA titles so I would guess yes. But yeah... thats my 2 Cents 😅
@@BadButterfly65 I agree. Now that the AAA price point is 70 dollars and sometimes more. 50 dollars would be closer to AA. Whether it has enough content for you is still up to subjective ideals, its FAIRLY priced. If AAA was still 60 bucks id say 40 would be good. But thats not where we are at.
@@strailz4302 yep. And I dunno on what plattform you are on and where you are, but here in germany most AAA games on ps are 80 now. 70 when you are lucky. Absolutely hate it. Esp when games get objectivly worse in the AAA field for the most part...🙄
@@BadButterfly65 I still buy a lot of AAA games for 60 or less (not from black markets) on PC, so to me that price seems incredibly high for what Kunitsu-Gami has to offer. Some of the fairly priced recently released AA games in my opinion are Riven, Still Wakes the Deep, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, Indika, Hades 2, and more. All of these games are high quality stuff, some with insane replay value as well, and they are much cheaper. Obviously this is just my opinion and preferences, but I don't see this get much attention.
Feels a bit like the game is intentionally designed to make you waste time on micromanagement and menial tasks to establish the time limit as more of a threat in the early stages while the overall challenge is still low. Same with "hunting" animals for medkits - they easily outrun you early on, and you have to waste precious seconds on catching up with just one deer, let alone multiple. Eventually you unlock the bow and can just shoot them from across the road, or maybe even send a unit to do the job later on. Not necessarily good game design, but in a way it's not too different from how survival crafting games force you to do chores early on while allowing you to circumvent or automate them later.

I'm glad Capcom released a demo (on ps5). I thought this game looked weird when I first saw it, but I really enjoyed the demo.
