    Did the steps introduced. Worked. Very good tutorial. Now Sonoma is up in my late 2015 iMac. Thanks for the help! One thing I like to mention is when the Sonoma is downloaded, system will restart, you need to watch out otherwise the system will skip the selection to boot from targeted disk. This caused black screen and stuck. Restart with key option pressed can solve the issue.

    Thank you for your explanation! You make it very easy! Just a question, how can I change the read and write authorizations on the first level on the disk?

    • @macintoshteam6657
      @macintoshteam6657  10 месяцев назад

      To change the read and write permissions at the root level of a disk on macOS, you can use the Terminal and the "chmod" command. Here's how:
      Open Terminal (you can find it in the Utilities folder within the Applications folder).
      Use the "sudo" command to execute the following command with administrative privileges. Replace "/Volumes/YourDiskName" with the path to the disk you want to change permissions for:
      sudo chmod -R 777 /Volumes/YourDiskName
      This command will give read, write, and execute permissions to all users on the specified disk. Be cautious with this command, as it grants full access to all users. Adjust the permissions (777) as needed based on your specific requirements.

    I fell in love with the way you explain these geek things! Don't get me wrong. I am straight man. But you did it so easily yet so clearly! Thank you! What if I have problems with a stuck update? And how can see the logs of this failed installation? By the way, I'm a newbie in Mac World, but always eager to learn

    • @macintoshteam6657
      @macintoshteam6657  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm glad you found the explanation helpful. Don't worry; everyone starts somewhere, and being eager to learn is fantastic!
      If you encounter a stuck update on your Mac, here are some general steps you can take:
      Restart Your Mac:
      A simple restart can sometimes resolve update-related issues.
      Check Internet Connection:
      Ensure that your Mac is connected to the internet, as updates often require a stable connection.
      Software Update Settings:
      Go to "System Preferences" > "Software Update" and check if there are any available updates. Sometimes manually triggering the update can help.
      Check Storage Space:
      Ensure you have enough free storage space on your Mac. Updates may fail if there's insufficient space.
      As for viewing logs of a failed installation, you can use the Console app to check for error messages. Here's how:
      Open the Console app (you can find it in Applications > Utilities).
      In the left sidebar, navigate to "User Reports" and "System Reports."
      Look for entries related to the failed update. The logs may provide information about the issue.

      Considering the challenges you've faced, it might be worth performing a clean install of your iMac using Recovery Mode. After your Mac is freshly restored, you can then proceed to reinstall OpenCore, and this process may likely resolve the persistent issues you've been encountering. Remember to make a thorough backup before starting the clean install to ensure your data is safe. Wish you the best of luck.

      I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. Let's try a few steps to troubleshoot the issue:
      1. **Check the USB Drive**: Ensure that the USB drive is properly formatted and the OpenCore installer is correctly set up. Sometimes, a corrupted or improperly prepared USB drive can cause issues.
      2. **Verify USB Port**: Try using a different USB port on your Mac. Sometimes, certain ports may have issues or may not be recognized during boot.
      3. **Reset NVRAM/PRAM**: Resetting the NVRAM/PRAM can sometimes resolve boot issues. To do this:
      - Shut down your Mac.
      - Turn it on and immediately press and hold Option + Command + P + R for about 20 seconds.
      - Release the keys and let your Mac restart.
      4. **Reset SMC**: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) can also help with hardware-related issues. For a MacBook with a non-removable battery:
      - Shut down your Mac.
      - Press and hold Shift + Control + Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button.
      - Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds.
      - Release all keys and the power button, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
      5. **Double-check OpenCore Configuration**: Make sure that the OpenCore configuration is correct for your specific model of MacBook Pro. If there are any mistakes in the configuration files, it could cause boot issues. Refer to the OpenCore guide to ensure all steps were followed correctly.
      6. **Recreate the USB Installer**: If the above steps don’t work, try recreating the USB installer from scratch. Follow the OpenCore installation guide carefully to ensure all steps are completed correctly.
      If you continue to have trouble, consider the following additional options:
      - **Use a Different USB Drive**: Sometimes the USB drive itself may have issues. Try using a different USB drive to create the installer.
      - **Seek Help from the Community**: The OpenCore community is very active and helpful. You might find someone who has faced a similar issue and can provide specific guidance.
      If you need step-by-step guidance on any of these suggestions or further assistance, please let me know! I'm here to help you get through this installation process.

      @@MyGeogy If your Mac shows a blank screen with no lights or chimes after holding the Option key to access the boot menu, it suggests a more fundamental issue, possibly with the hardware, the USB installer, or the OpenCore configuration. Here are some steps to diagnose and resolve this issue:
      ### Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
      1. **Check the USB Installer**:
      - Make sure the USB installer is correctly created and that it contains all necessary files, including OpenCore, macOS installer, and essential kexts.
      2. **Verify USB Ports and Drive**:
      - Try using different USB ports on your Mac.
      - If possible, use a different USB drive to rule out any issues with the current one.
      3. **Reset SMC and NVRAM/PRAM**:
      - **Reset SMC** (System Management Controller):
      - Shut down your Mac.
      - For a MacBook with a non-removable battery: Press and hold Shift + Control + Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button. Hold these keys for 10 seconds. Release all keys and the power button, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
      - **Reset NVRAM/PRAM**:
      - Shut down your Mac.
      - Turn it on and immediately press and hold Option + Command + P + R for about 20 seconds. Release the keys and let the Mac restart.
      4. **Check the OpenCore Configuration**:
      - Ensure the `config.plist` is properly configured for your Mac model. Incorrect settings can cause boot issues.
      - Use the [OpenCore Configurator](mackie100projects.altervista.org/download-opencore-configurator/) or [ProperTree](github.com/corpnewt/ProperTree) to verify and edit your `config.plist`.
      5. **Verbose Mode and Basic Graphics**:
      - Add `-v` to the boot arguments for verbose mode to see detailed boot messages.
      - Add `-igfxvesa` to force basic VESA graphics mode, which can help if more advanced settings are causing issues.
      ### Creating a Proper OpenCore Configuration
      1. **Download and Prepare OpenCore**:
      - Ensure you have the latest version of OpenCore and the necessary kexts (e.g., `Lilu.kext`, `WhateverGreen.kext`).
      2. **Set Device Properties**:
      - Add the appropriate properties for your integrated graphics in the `DeviceProperties` section of your `config.plist`.
      ```xml
      DeviceProperties
      PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0)
      AAPL,ig-platform-id
      AAABAQ==
      device-id
      FDUAAA==
      ```
      3. **Set SMBIOS Information**:
      - Ensure the SMBIOS settings match your MacBook Pro model (e.g., `MacBookPro11,3` for a 15-inch 2014 model).
      ```xml
      PlatformInfo
      Generic
      SystemProductName
      MacBookPro11,3
      ```
      4. **Add Necessary Kexts**:
      - Ensure `Lilu.kext` and `WhateverGreen.kext` are included in the `EFI/OC/Kexts` directory and referenced in your `config.plist` under `Kernel -> Add`.
      5. **Boot Arguments**:
      - In the `NVRAM -> Add -> boot-args` section, add:
      ```
      -v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 alcid=1 -igfxvesa
      ```
      ### Testing and Diagnosis
      1. **Boot from USB Installer**:
      - Insert the USB installer, power on the Mac, and immediately hold down the Option key.
      - If the Startup Manager does not appear, try resetting the NVRAM/PRAM again.
      2. **Check External Monitor**:
      - Connect an external monitor to see if it displays anything.
      3. **Verbose Mode Boot**:
      - If you manage to get any output, verbose mode (`-v`) will help you see where the process is halting.
      ### If the Issue Persists
      1. **Recreate the USB Installer**:
      - Use another Mac to recreate the USB installer, ensuring each step is followed correctly.
      2. **Community Help**:
      - Post your `config.plist` and any verbose boot logs to forums such as [r/hackintosh](www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/) or [InsanelyMac](www.insanelymac.com/forum/).
      3. **Hardware Diagnostics**:
      - If nothing works, there might be a hardware issue. Run Apple Diagnostics by holding `D` during startup to check for hardware problems.
      By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue with your Mac not booting from the USB installer. If you need further assistance with specific configurations or steps, feel free to ask!

      @macintoshteam6657  9 месяцев назад

      If you're experiencing issues with the mouse, keyboard, and Bluetooth functionality after configuring OpenCore, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
      Check USB Connections: Ensure that your mouse and keyboard are properly connected to USB ports on your Mac. Try connecting them to different USB ports to see if they work.
      Verify Bluetooth Settings: If your mouse and keyboard are Bluetooth-enabled, check your Mac's Bluetooth settings to ensure that Bluetooth is turned on and that the devices are properly paired.
      Reset Bluetooth: Try resetting the Bluetooth module on your Mac by turning Bluetooth off and then back on again. You can do this from the Bluetooth menu in System Preferences or by clicking the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar.
      Check OpenCore Configuration: Review your OpenCore configuration settings to ensure that they're not causing conflicts with USB or Bluetooth devices. Make sure that any relevant ACPI patches or USB-related settings are configured correctly.
      Check for Driver Issues: Ensure that you have the necessary drivers installed in your OpenCore configuration to support USB and Bluetooth devices. You may need to add additional drivers or kexts to properly support your hardware.
      Try Booting Without OpenCore: If the issues persist, try booting your Mac without OpenCore to see if the problem is related to the bootloader configuration. If the mouse, keyboard, and Bluetooth work without OpenCore, then there may be an issue with your OpenCore configuration.
      Seek Community Support: If you're still experiencing issues after trying the above steps, consider seeking assistance from the OpenCore community forums or support channels. Other users may have encountered similar issues and could provide additional troubleshooting steps or solutions.
      By following these steps and troubleshooting the mouse, keyboard, and Bluetooth issues, you should be able to identify and resolve the underlying problem.

      @macintoshteam6657 I've just been giving my Macbook Pro Early 2013 the acid test after installing Sonoma with the fantastic help from your tutorial and all I can say is I'm astounded!
      I'm a video editor so FCPX is what I use constantly, so I hammered it with all of the hardest plugins, effects, 3D titles on a 4K HEVC h.265 project rendering to an external hard drive. This is also whilst I had 4 heavy websites open including RUclips and I was playing videos in 4K whilst FCPX was rendering. FCPX did crash once early on, but that was after I bombarded the project with so many heavy effects that I wasn't surprised! (not my usual workflow!) But the system remained solid.
      I can now also play native 4K raw HEVC h.265 video footage directly in Finder without jittering or dropped frames (something that I could not do in Catalina)
      So, I just wanted to say, thank you so much for your tutorial, it works a treat! Robin

      Regarding Boot Camp, installing OpenCore on an unsupported Mac typically doesn't interfere with the ability to use Boot Camp. OpenCore primarily affects the macOS boot process and doesn't directly impact Windows compatibility. However, it's always a good idea to proceed with caution and ensure you have backups of your important data before making significant changes to your system. If you encounter any issues or have further questions, feel free to ask. Good luck with your installation

      @macintoshteam6657  8 месяцев назад

      It sounds like you've encountered an issue with pairing your wireless keyboard after successfully installing macOS Monterey. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
      Check Battery: Ensure that your wireless keyboard has sufficient battery power. Sometimes, low battery levels can prevent proper pairing.
      Reset Keyboard: Try resetting your wireless keyboard. Most wireless keyboards have a reset button or a specific key combination for this purpose. Refer to the keyboard's manual for instructions on how to reset it.
      Restart iMac: Sometimes, simply restarting your iMac can resolve connectivity issues.
      Pairing Sequence: Make sure you're following the correct pairing sequence for your keyboard. Typically, this involves putting the keyboard into pairing mode and then using your iMac to search for and connect to it via Bluetooth settings.
      Bluetooth Interference: Check for any sources of Bluetooth interference near your iMac, such as other wireless devices or electronic equipment. Moving these away can sometimes improve connectivity.
      Forget Device: If your keyboard was previously paired with another device, try forgetting the device on both the keyboard and your iMac, and then attempt to pair them again from scratch.
      Update macOS: Ensure that your iMac is running the latest version of macOS Monterey. Sometimes, software updates include fixes for Bluetooth connectivity issues.
      I hope one of these suggestions helps you resolve the issue with your wireless keyboard pairing. Good luck!

      Apple does not officially support OpenCore because it's a third-party bootloader that allows for macOS installations on non-Apple hardware, which goes against Apple's terms of service. Apple designs its software to run exclusively on its own hardware for a controlled and optimized user experience. OpenCore, being a community-driven project, enables users to install macOS on unsupported hardware, but it's not officially endorsed or supported by Apple.

      Hey there! It seems like you're encountering some unexpected issues with Chrome after installing OpenCore Sonoma on your Mac Pro. While OpenCore can offer enhanced functionality and performance, it's possible that there might be compatibility issues or conflicts with other software components.
      Since reinstalling Chrome didn't resolve the problem, it's worth investigating if there are any specific settings or configurations in OpenCore that could be causing this issue. Additionally, checking for any recent updates or patches for OpenCore and Chrome might help alleviate the problem.
      In the meantime, using Safari as a workaround is a sensible choice. If you're still experiencing difficulties, reaching out to the OpenCore community or seeking assistance from tech forums could provide further insights and potential solutions.
      I hope you're able to resolve the issue soon and get back to smooth browsing on your Mac Pro!

Do you know how I could fix it without resetting? After installing OpenCore, some users may experience issues with Wi-Fi connectivity. Here are a few steps you can try to fix this:
      Restart Your System: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues after installing new software like OpenCore.
      Check Wi-Fi Settings: Ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled on your device and that you're trying to connect to the correct network. Sometimes, settings might change during installation, so double-checking is important.
      Update Drivers: Make sure that your Wi-Fi drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues with new software installations.
      Verify Configurations: Review your OpenCore configuration settings to ensure that they are not conflicting with your Wi-Fi hardware. Check for any specific settings related to network configurations.
      Reset Network Settings: Resetting your network settings can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. This can often be done through the settings menu on your device.
      Contact Support: If you've tried the above steps and are still experiencing issues, consider reaching out to the OpenCore community or your device manufacturer's support for further assistance.

    @MacintohTeam, My 2017 MBP is running Ventura by using OpenCoreLegacy Patcher. If I clone that internal SSD onto and external SSD and use it to boot my 2017 Imac then Ventura is still a newer OS then what is natively accepted by Apple. OCLP would still need to be installed to operate on the imac but would I need to rebuild the EFI with Imac 18,2 selected before being able to boot to it? I know it sounds a bit confusing but my OpenCore knowledge is not the best.

      It sounds like you've got a solid setup using OpenCoreLegacy Patcher on your 2017 MacBook Pro to run Ventura. If you clone that internal SSD onto an external SSD and attempt to boot your 2017 iMac from it, Ventura would indeed still be a newer OS than what is natively accepted by Apple.
      To get Ventura running on your iMac using OpenCoreLegacy Patcher, you would likely need to rebuild the EFI with the appropriate settings for your iMac model (in this case, 18,2). This ensures that the necessary configurations are in place for your iMac's hardware.
      While it might seem a bit confusing, don't worry-OpenCore can be complex, especially when dealing with different hardware configurations. Take your time, follow our tutorials specific to your setup, and don't hesitate to ask for help if needed.

      @macintoshteam6657  11 месяцев назад

      Hey there! If you're stuck because your mouse or keyboard isn't working in Recovery Mode, here are a few suggestions:
      Try Wired Devices:
      If you're using wireless peripherals, switch to wired ones. Recovery Mode might have limited support for certain wireless devices.
      Test Different USB Ports:
      Plug your mouse and keyboard into different USB ports on your Mac. Sometimes, specific ports can cause issues.
      Original Apple Accessories:
      Whenever possible, use original Apple keyboards and mice, as they are more likely to have full compatibility.
      Reset SMC and PRAM:
      Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and Parameter RAM (PRAM) could help. Start your Mac while holding Option + Command + P + R until you hear the startup chime twice.
      Check for Physical Damage:
      Inspect your peripherals for any physical damage, and ensure the cables are in good condition.
      Boot in Safe Mode:
      Try booting into Safe Mode (hold down the Shift key during startup) to see if that helps with peripheral recognition.
      Use Direct USB Connection:
      If you're using USB hubs, connect your peripherals directly to your Mac to rule out any issues with the hub.
      Check Accessibility Settings:
      In Recovery Mode, navigate to the Apple menu, go to "System Preferences," and check the Accessibility settings to ensure your mouse and keyboard are recognized.
      Internet Recovery:
      If all else fails, consider using Internet Recovery by holding Option + Command + R during startup. This downloads recovery tools from Apple's servers.
      If the problem persists, you might want to reach out to the OpenCore community or check Apple Support forums for more specific assistance. Hope this helps!

      Using a USB drive is recommended for Open Core installation as it provides a safer way to test the setup without potentially risking data loss on your main system. However, if you have ample space on your system and are willing to take the risk of potential data loss, you can proceed without using a USB drive. Just ensure you've backed up any important data before proceeding with the installation. Keep in mind that while it's technically possible to install directly on your system, using a USB drive adds an extra layer of safety and flexibility during the installation process.

      Thank you for reaching out, and I'm glad you found the video helpful! It sounds like you're encountering an issue during the Sonoma installation process on your iMac 14.1 with an external SSD.
      The error message you're seeing, "An error occurred preparing the software update," can be a bit tricky to diagnose without more information. However, here are a few suggestions you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
      1. Check Installation Files: Ensure that the Sonoma installation files on your external SSD are not corrupted. You may want to try re-downloading the Sonoma installer and creating a fresh bootable drive.
      2. Verify External SSD: Make sure that the external SSD you're using for the installation is in good condition and properly formatted. You can use Disk Utility to check for any errors on the SSD.
      3. Disconnect External Devices: Sometimes, connected external devices can interfere with the installation process. Try disconnecting any unnecessary peripherals or devices from your iMac before restarting the installation.
      4. Check System Compatibility: Ensure that your iMac 14.1 meets the system requirements for Sonoma. Incompatibility with certain hardware components could potentially cause installation errors.
      5. Seek Community Support: Consider reaching out to online forums or communities dedicated to Sonoma or macOS installations. Others who have faced similar issues may be able to provide more specific advice or solutions.
      I hope one of these suggestions helps resolve the issue for you and allows you to successfully complete the Sonoma installation. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck!

      @macintoshteam6657  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your macOS Sonoma installation, particularly with freezing on the startup window. This can be frustrating, but there are a few things we can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
      Firstly, have you tried resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your MacBook? Sometimes, resetting the SMC can help resolve various startup and performance issues. Here's how you can do it:
      Shut down your MacBook.
      Press and hold the Shift, Control, Option, and Power buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds.
      Release all the keys and then press the Power button again to turn on your MacBook.
      If the issue persists after resetting the SMC, you may want to try booting into Safe Mode to see if the problem still occurs. Safe Mode loads macOS with minimal system extensions and drivers, which can help identify if the issue is related to third-party software or drivers. Here's how to boot into Safe Mode:
      Shut down your MacBook.
      Press the Power button to turn it on, and immediately press and hold the Shift key.
      Keep holding the Shift key until you see the Apple logo and progress bar.
      Once you're in Safe Mode, check if the startup window still freezes. If not, it could indicate a third-party software or driver causing the issue.
      If the issue persists even in Safe Mode, you may want to consider reinstalling macOS Sonoma. Sometimes, a corrupted installation can lead to startup issues. Before reinstalling, ensure you have a backup of your important data

      @@patelbhaveshm07 I'm sorry to hear that Safe Mode didn't improve the situation and actually made it worse. It sounds like there may be a deeper issue with your macOS Sonoma installation or possibly with the hardware itself.
      At this point, it might be best to consider reinstalling macOS Sonoma from scratch. Before doing so, ensure that you have backed up all your important data to prevent any loss during the reinstall process.
      Additionally, double-check that you selected the correct host model during the installation procedure. Choosing the wrong model could potentially lead to compatibility issues and unexpected behavior. If you're uncertain about the host model you selected, it might be worth reviewing the installation guide or seeking assistance from the macOS Sonoma community to ensure everything is configured correctly.
      I hope reinstalling macOS Sonoma and verifying the host model selection resolves the freezing issue on startup. If you continue to experience problems after reinstalling, it may be necessary to seek further assistance from Apple Support or a certified technician to diagnose any underlying hardware issues. Let me know if you need further assistance or have any other questions!

      Hi there! Thanks for checking out the video, and I'm glad you found it helpful.
      In regards to your question, I completely understand the concern about erasing the internal hard drive. Before proceeding, I recommend creating a backup using Time Machine. It's a reliable way to safeguard your data.
      Alternatively, you can install OpenCore on an external drive, such as an SD card, hard drive, USB, SSD, or NVMe M.2 drive. This way, your internal drive remains untouched, and you can always boot from the external drive when needed.
      If you're interested in installing OpenCore on an external hard drive, we have a dedicated video that guides you through the process step by step. ruclips.net/video/XykSgsiQHxA/видео.html
      Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

      Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! So if I were to use Time Machine to backup my hard drive, would I be able to restore it back on to my hard drive while still having open core on my computer? Or would I just have to keep my backup separate? I really hope I’m making sense, I’m not familiar with all the terminology 😅

    Flawless in creating Open Core usb, but can't detect the internal hdd [fusion drive] to install it on. Any thoughts would be appreciated. My Mac is a late 2013 27inch model. ☺

    • @macintoshteam6657
      @macintoshteam6657  11 месяцев назад

      It seems like you're encountering an issue with OpenCore not detecting the internal Fusion Drive during the installation process. Here are some steps and considerations that might help you troubleshoot the problem:
      Check Config.plist:
      Ensure that your config.plist file is properly configured. Pay special attention to the sections related to drives, boot arguments, and SATA controllers.
      Verify that the necessary kexts (kernel extensions) are present and properly configured in the config.plist file. This includes kexts for SATA controllers and disk drives.
      Use Proper Kexts:
      Make sure you have the required kexts for your storage controller in the EFI/OC/Kexts folder. For Fusion Drive, you might need kexts related to AppleRAID or storage controllers specific to your Mac model.
      Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
      Confirm that your BIOS/UEFI settings are correctly configured. Ensure that your storage controller is set to AHCI mode.
      Try Different Ports:
      If your Mac has multiple SATA ports, try connecting the Fusion Drive to a different port to see if it's detected.
      Use the Latest OpenCore Version:
      Ensure that you are using the latest version of OpenCore. Check for updates and use the most recent release.
      Check for Fusion Drive Compatibility:
      Verify that OpenCore and your macOS version are compatible with Fusion Drive setups. Some versions may require specific configurations for Fusion Drives.
      USB Port Configuration:
      Verify USB port configurations in your config.plist. Sometimes incorrect USB port mappings can cause issues with drive detection.
      Logs and Debugging:
      Check OpenCore logs for any error messages or warnings during the boot process. Enabling debug logging in OpenCore might provide more insight into the issue.
      Consider a Different Bootloader:
      If the issue persists, you might want to try a different bootloader (e.g., Clover) to see if it can detect the Fusion Drive.
      Consult OpenCore Documentation:
      Refer to the official OpenCore documentation and forums for any specific guidance related to Fusion Drives and your Mac model.
      If the problem persists after trying these steps, you may want to seek assistance on forums dedicated to Hackintosh and OpenCore, where you can provide more details about your configuration for more targeted help.

    A Little confused, you erased the internal drive, is it necessary to do that, I was under the impression you could install the new OS on the internal drive as is without deletion, could you please clarify. I ask this as I need to create a USB boot drive on my 19,1 iMac so that I can install Sonoma on a friends' 16,2 iMac. To do this I would rather not erase the drive, though I understand there is a full back up.

    • @macintoshteam6657
      @macintoshteam6657  11 месяцев назад

      Great question! Erasing the internal drive is one approach to ensure a clean installation and minimize potential conflicts. However, it's not strictly necessary. For the iMac where Sonoma is being installed, you have the option to erase the internal drive if you prefer, but it's not mandatory. You can indeed install the new OS on the internal drive without deletion, especially if you have a full backup. In your case, creating a USB boot drive for your friend's 16,2 iMac should work without erasing the drive. Feel free to proceed with the installation, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions. Happy upgrading.

    • @macintoshteam6657
      @macintoshteam6657  Год назад

      Hi! The change in the USB name on the desktop post-installation might be due to the system recognizing it with a default or generic name. It's common for the system to display the device name or identifier. If you want to change it back to 'Sonoma,' you can do so manually. Right-click on the USB drive on your desktop, select 'Get Info,' and then change the name under 'Name & Extension.' Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions or need further assistance!

      Reinstalling to Ventura is an option, but my recommendation is: don't update. When it's working, it's working.
      Option 1:
      1. Boot into Recovery Mode:
      2. Access Disk Utility:
      3. Erase the Disk:
      4. Reinstall macOS:
      5. Set Up macOS:
      6. Restore Data (Optional):
      Option 2:
      Boot into Safe Mode:
      • Restart your MacBook and hold down the Shift key
      Reset NVRAM
      Command + Option + P + R
      Revert OpenCore Changes
      • If you can access OpenCore settings during boot (by pressing the appropriate key),
      try to revert any recent changes that might have caused the issue.
