We started SwitchUp as we just didn’t find what we were looking for in what was already out there. There are some brilliant creators - but we enjoyed a more retro format like the old gaming magazines. Scoring 5 sections out of 20 to give a percentage score like the good old days! When you pointed out how similar it is to tropical freeze, and even played some of the music, made me want to play the game, I might pick it up when my backlog of video games goes down

I had a huge back list myself until I traded a lot of those games in because I knew there were games I was never going to play in Finish now and make a strict rule that I only play games that I know I will absolutely finish Platformers are one of those kind of games

i will be seeing mine in a couple of days, I make an effort due to her being 92 and sure my visits will be numbered. She also enjoys seeing her great-grandson.

When I first heard there was going to be a Yooka sequel I was concerned as the first was messy, but the trailers for this one had my hopes raised. Looks like we'll have to nab this one! So sorry for your loss, Glen. Lost my grandmother three months ago. I wasn't able to get there in time when she was on her deathbed. I left a voice-message though, my mom played it for her. Grandmothers are special. I know you feel sad now. But just know that it is a part of life and that one (your nan) is never really gone. :) They live in our thoughts, memories, in our hearts. And maybe there's even an afterlife. Who knows? But if there is, I'm sure your nan is there right now, smiling at you. :)

I’ve really been looking forward to this one tho since I loved the origami Yooka Laylee, wasn’t perfect but that’s why I loved it so much. It truly reminded me of those classic collectathons. Great video tho. As always it’s great. Can’t wait to get this one just don’t know how the fuck I’ll afford this after this month and past.
I've recently decided to get back into this game. Tried it and left it untouched for a long while... now that I'm back to it I couldn't ignore the beyond amazing music in this game. The gameplay is awesome but that music makes this worth experiencing alone.

I really enjoyed the first Yooka-Laylee. My biggest complaint about it was that each level can be expanded by spending enough pagies. It sounds good on paper, but when all the collectables are earned through their own independent, self contained challenges, I found myself preferring Mario 64's approach of just having two levels with the same theme.
I saw this game on sale for 7.5 USD today and after watching your review, looks like a steal to me. Played the demo and boy am I having fun. Definitely buying this one.

I imported the original game from America and enjoyed what I’ve played of it.
As this game has gone 2d, it’s seems to be more tight the gameplay.

The game looks great! I haven't played the first 3D platformer yet (it's in my backlog) so no hurry in playing but very interested.
My wish is to put both games on a single cartridge. Happy to double dip if the platformer is to my liking, I have heard mixed reviews on it but feeling optimistic hence I bought it

Great review! I wonder if they haven’t taken advantage of boost mode to use the extra CPU clock for those load times. Hopefully that’s true and they can patch it in.

I will only buy it if it comes out as a physical release. I enjoyed the first Yooka-Layee and bought the physical edition from limited run games.
This looks amazing having nearly finished donkey kong tropical freeze this looks like it will be a worthy replacement, loading is long but when it looks and sounds this good I think that is a small price to pay. Thanks Glen

Mate if its impossible, how can you beat it?
It’s almost impossible (or at least extremely bloody hard) without collecting the Beetallion squad from each stage and gaining the extra hit points. Glen
I LOVE this. It looks like good fun! I still wanna play the first game though! Like it screams banjo (for obvious reasons) and I really really loved playing the banjo games.

Picking up on Xbox One. Looks great though on Switch. Hopefully the roll mechanic is satisfying to use (I love doing that in DKC on SNES). I could not grasp it very well in DKC Returns on 3DS.

Maybe its just me but I find "Yooka" and "Laylee" to be sooo meh looking characters. One thing that Rare used to get right in their characters before was the swag factor! I mean Banjo plays a cool Banjo, DK wears a tie and has a hippie surfer uncle and Conquer, well, dont even get me started on how cool Conquer was :'D

My right thumb is in pain after finishing the not so impossible lair, it took me 3 hours to beat with 6 bees left out of the 48. And no, I will not play the impossible lair…. You have to commit to the game to beat the impossible lair with 2 lives. 😮
