- Learn the rules of silent letters in English! YES, THERE ARE RULES!
In this video I give you the A to Z rules of silent letters. I also give some of the most common words that don't seem to follow any rules, but that you need to know!
NB: Silent letters exist in English because of historical and linguistic reasons. English has also been less "regulated" than other languages. But you don't need to know the history to have correct pronunciation. 😉

Amazing!
Your teaching method is really beautiful.

Miss Max, a true mentor
Instead of the concept of silent letters, one can use the concept of spellings that correspond to each sound. One can list all the possible spellings that correspond to each sound. The Random House unabridged dictionary has such complete lists.
very a useful one....thanks charming teacher
It was one of the best way of teaching and also a good pronounciation .

Could you make clear the case of "finally", I usually hear Americans say with "a" but also sometimes "without a"? Thank you!
A good observation!
You can say it either way. Often when speak quickly they don't pronounce the A.
Thank you very much. You learn me a lot of silent words

@@EnglishwithMax May I know where are you from?
Can you make a video on pronunciation of general words in different accents ?(UK,US, Australian and Canadian )
@@successpointpk4525 I'm Australian :).
Regarding a pronunciation video, I can't promise anything because I have a lot of topics on my list, but in most of my pronunciation videos you'll find that I look at both British and American English. (Except if I specify that it's just British English.)
@@EnglishwithMax OK. Thank you so much for paying attention to my comment. I shared your video with my students also. They liked it a lot.

amazing videos 🤩👌
Thanks teacher❤️
Remembering all the rules in English is a task in itself. Phonnics often do not work.
Good
I like the way you teach us . Happily subscribe your channel
Thanks :) and welcome!
Nice
you are teaching very well how to pronounce the worlds. however, you are not explaining why the letter should be silent . is there any rules for that . Please explain that
What's the difference between understand & realize?
It's probably best to read some example sentences. This dictionary usually has good examples:
dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/understand
dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/realize?q=realise
Thanks a bunch for ur nice giving. I m from Bangladesh.
Love you mam

This is indeed epic, Max. I can’t believe how many times I mispronounced raspberry. Luckily I don’t use the words climber and heir often because I didn’t know about these two either. Thank you! ☺️
Hey Rusty! Thanks for watching! Yeah, raspberry's a weird one - it's completely different to the German and French words. :)
@@EnglishwithMax i have a doubt.
Isn't it different 'from' the German and French words..?
I've often seen you use the preposition 'to' instead of 'from' after 'different'
Pls clarify 😊😊
@@abduraoofp7084 You can say either. ;-)
@@EnglishwithMax okay, Thank you😊😊
I have always pronounced Raspberry like Raz-Bair-Ee. Like in the Prince song, Raspberry Beret.
Thank you very much
Max, could you tell me what is voiced or voiceless sound ?
Basically, voiced means that there is vibration in your throat. Unvoiced/voiceless = no vibration
Thanks Max
Dear Max, since I started to review my forgotten English grammar, I feel how easy and enjoyable it is . It's just being with and along with you. Meanwhile I like to be corrected wherever I have mistaken in writing or grammar. ✌
Thank you, you explained wonderfully, one of the difficulties, in the English language
Thanks for watching!

Learning became my love and one thing I learned and it cannot ever be forgotten by anyone who wishes to learn it better and able to be fluent in it, even the natural English speaking countries we must learn and be aware of these things mentioned in your topic of pronunciation, which I loved. There are the areas typical pronunciation and old English ”slangs’ . Many of the mentioned pronunciations mentioned here have a different pronunciation due to low learning level or because of the old use still in habit. My many old and classic books reading really helped me see how the words where spelled and pronounced in a totally different way. And I really learned that the dictionaries are some of the wonderful teachers in my private reviewing and as a translator in finding the best words to be used in the translation meaning. Amazing how languages have their history and how it has changed, how languages are affected in other languages ...so many things that affect the languages. I loved your video, my first English started with British language and I loved it, loved your voice as well, very clear and good sound🥰🤗
Thank you so much, Ilona! I like your passion. :)
Hi Max! How good you're back! And you look great! You've got younger, 5 years younger than in the last video! If I didn't know, I'd say you were 18 or 19!

Thank you so much for the lesson. I find it tremendous useful. I'll re-watch a few times more to remember the rules. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
You are a wonderful teacher. Luckily, I stumbled upon your classes! My grandchildren were born overseas (Indonesia) and their mom is a non-native speaker. The Pandemic brought them home. At their K-6 “International” English school the teachers (bless their sweet hearts) did not have full command of the idiosyncrasies of our complicated language. The girls are preteens and have a million questions.. is it scent or cent? Why? They are little sponges..and are fine. Mom is brilliant.. you will take her to the next level. Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words :). I'm glad you find my channel helpful.
I wish your grandchildren all the best!
