You were right on both occasions Rick. At the Cafe I would have spoken to the Manager and put a complaint in. I’m 57 and think as you get older you are a lot wiser and don’t suffer fools like you do when you were younger. I have always been brought up to respect older people and women. I also think when you get over 50 it’s like an egg timer with the sand more full in the other half which makes you a bit more grumpier

We could be twins Rick🤣. We always went to the Corner Bar until the day when it was packed and the only free table was right outside the toilet, so we moved it about 3 foot. One of the girls ran over and waved her arms around and moved the table back and stormed off. We’ve never been back in. Take care.

No Rick you're not a grumpy old man. You're just less tolerate of rude time wasting people. I think that some of the new generation are just thoughtless and self centered. Its not just you👍 plenty of places seem to take forever to serve you which for me ruins the moment. As for grifters, to many wheelies and the forks would bend. Think the selling point of them was the 3 gear grip shifter 🤣 Raleigh Burner was the bike to have, 1 with mag wheels 😍

I had a similar issue at the same coffee shop, sat for ages waiting for the bill and then sat waiting for change. Eventually went to the counter to ask for change. But I am a grumpy old man!!

Morning Rick had similar experience myself last night. At the moment I’m in your old home town staying at the large white hotel with little blue turrets. Had a nice meal last night in the Atlántico next to lava. thought we would have few night caps back at the hotel . So there I am standing in line when a couple of old boys bowl up (English) moan there not doing table service, at which point the barman stops the queue serving and deals with the old boys. I was fuming walked out of there across road to the Irish bar. They won’t be seeing me in their the rest of the holiday. Wife says need to calm down your on holiday. I’m same age as you.

We used to love the corner bar in los Cris but it does seem to have lost the vibe it once had … when we first started going there about 15 years ago the guy that owned/managed it was great and very welcoming but not seen him for years … you were right on both counts Rick !! 😎

Rick I am a retired Scotsman living in Gdynia Poland for the past 8 years I now have 3 dogs 5yrs 2.5yrs and 5 months every day I walk them 2/3 times a day and have to say that on numerous occasions I have had similar experiences with other dog owners who believe they know everything better than me about how my dogs react which really stresses me out more so because I’m not fluent in Polish so I tend to walk away without any exchanges !!
On your second situation with the waiter I find now I have more patience towards service staff than I did before I retired and rarely find myself in position of having Time schedule to meet : hopefully your days get better with no more Mr Grumpy 🥰

I think you’re absolutely right on both accounts.. the thing is, I’m 43 this year and am 1.92 , 92kg and no hair.. looking like I would always speak up, but I’m the guy who never speaks up on anything..my missus on the other hand does that all the time and even though I get embarrassed when she does, a part of me is always like “yeah get em!!” 😂
So I’m happy to see that changes the older one gets.. there’s still hope for me I guess 😅

Hi Rick I think it's brilliant your getting back into fitness again but don't over do it as to much running on hard surfaces can affect your back. A run every other day is enough otherwise you will sicken yourself of running. Take care both great channel by the way !

I remember the day I felt old. I was cycling past a line of traffic. I was to the left and cars were queued in the right lane. Fiat 500 cabrio with the roof down. Three young girls. The one in the back said. Check the legs on that guy. I was bursting with pride. Lights changed and the cars on the right were allowed to go. As they passed the passenger in the front said. “ it’s an old man”. I was crushed. I went from hero to zero in one minute 😂

You’re absolutely correct Rick. No excuse for the attitude after poor service in the corner bar at all. He will lose them customers and no doubt eventually he will lose his job. Life and money are too short to accept poor service and attitude. Plenty of nice spots to sit with a brew to people watch so it’s entirely their loss. And on the bright side, you can always moan about that bar when you pass. 😂

Not your fault at all. I'm 53 but I don't suffer fools, especially when it comes to spending my hard earned in an establishment and I get attitude or from a council worker on a power trip. But I'm Australian we are all pretty much like that. It's not being arrogant its about not getting pushed around. Although it did get me into trouble in America once. From a much older Fart … it’s Not you.. we know how hard we have worked getting to a certain age.. and first of all how beautiful to see a person with “Gumption” ( great word) working smart and aware of all thats around them, shinning over their work colleagues. That’s so easy to do in most jobs… but unfortunately this makes you see others that are not so Blessed in work ethics … Everybody should get a job either behind or waiting on in a Bar to see how people behave to others.. this will set them out for working life…
From the places we visit in Tenerife there are a few that we get the same experience that you received at. the corner bar.. getting old is a privilege… compared to the alternative… xxx sorry for the lengthy response.. x clearly this person is not interested in bar work at the corner bar …

(MS Steve). It's a coming of age thing, and no I don't really like it. We went for a few beers in our city centre (Hull) about a month ago. Walked into a bar, stood at the bar waiting about a minute (it wasn't busy), the young (20ish) barman comes over to me and says "What", I says "Sorry" he says ( looking at me as if I'm daft) "What...........what dyou want". I just bought the drinks, paid him and sat down. Customer caretacy, what happened to the welcoming greeting you used to get. Nothing. I'm thinking with age I'm loosing my street cred, dunno. I do think that since we went through the lockdowns that quality and service in pubs and restaurants has got worse ( l'm sure it has in England ). Lack of care and attention to detail that you used to get seems to have slipped. Parking cars in supermarket carparks is getting worse. The parking bays are clearly marked out but people just chuck their cars anywhere, on the lines, over the lines, it doesn't appear to mean anything to them. Non blue badge holders parking in the disabled bays (because there only going to be a minute)....... don't get me going on that one. But no Rick it's not you, it's everywhere you go. Let's all try and ride above it. Let's all have a nice day.

UK leading the world on being environmentally friendly and the banning of Polystyrene etc. it’s the Bain of my life having a business that now has to start looking at alternatives for customers who have already experienced 40% rises and now further rises due to so called earth friendly products. What they don’t tell you is how many companies in the UK alone are closing down

My other theory is cols place is strategically placing obstacles /moles in your path so you can have your first fight. Cols place is no Michael parkinson but his line of questioning made for an interesting unique vlog. You vloggers keep pushing that boat out to further afield. I thought @ one stage Col was going to ask you where the bodies were buried LMAO. PS rick keep out of trouble & don't whare a hood ie especially if your jogging in Los christ where the grannies congregate.

1st one sounds like the council worker was getting your measure, if rolo was a cute tiny fluffy dog, the conversation would not have happened.
2nd sounds like a personality clash, the waiter sounds like he could improve however, if you had said i would like my change as quick as possible please, then the delay would seem uncomfortable, he was probably thinking that a lot of customers like to take their time and people watch.

In your 50,s you accept poor attitudes and downright rudeness less, you seem to speak out and not tolerate bad manners were as before you’d maybe stay quiet, l think it’s a good thing as lm always polite and courteous and to be honest I accept the same back, it’s not a lot to ask is it lol, lm over 50 and still young in my ways but l have noticed l definitely don’t tolerate rudeness like l did when l was younger, hope lm not getting a miserable old sod to Rick lol

Here’s one for you Rick, From just 3 weeks ago on our hols in Alanya,Turkey,me and my wife Carole was getting into the hotel lift and an older chinese couple folllowed us in, l put my finger out to press our floor number and the woman knocked it away and then pressed her floor number first 🤷♂️ ironically it was floor 2 the same as l was going to press lol, l said “how rude are you that’s really rude”and she just turned to her husband and said “Americans” I said “ No, we are English and manners cost nothing” lol, we’re still laughing about it now even though l was angry at the time lol,what can you do there’s some odd people about lol
