  • My guess is hillside would have remained stable had "the experts" not allowed the quarry to dig deep into its South slope. Forget all the speculation floating about...use common sense and make observations from this video.

The consistency of the rock reminds me of crumb cake. Close the highway please.!

One period of soaking rain and that is collapsing fully

Incredible movement on that piece of land. I am surprised it hasn't fully slid down to the quarry

Yikes...just watched the 2017 video. In 49 months it has gone from a big crack to a gaping maw.
When this goes those in charge will say...'no one could have seen it coming'....just like our economy!

Yeah, its slow mo for sure. I get another "Crack" exam this coming Spring attempting to fly the say path as close as possible for comparison. Thanks for viewing.

It's beautiful but scary at the same time. I've never seen the tops of our foothills here in the Yakima area. Thank you for this footage

It's just matter of...... time..... before it all comes crumbling down.

The ragged ground looks so messy. Maybe a good, soaking rain will even the ground out and provide a start to some grass or other ground-cover.

Wouldn't want to be travelling on that highway when it gives way. Sort of surprised they haven't done any blasting for a controlled slide. Maybe it would work, or maybe not. It's a disaster waiting to happen for sure.

If that thing lets loose it'll bury the highways and Yakima River, which will start to flood to the north. I say dynamite/fix it now to prevent future calamity. OSO came without warning. Yakima, you have plenty of warning. Take a lesson. Fix it NOW.

My common sense says that the quarry is to the south and the land is moving west. The quarry may be irrelevant. (The Northwest has lots of landslides.)

Use hydraulic mining to urge it down.

I thought maybe with the Military Firing Range 10 miles away, a strategically place munition from an Aircraft would do it! It would be cool to watch & get it over with instead of waiting to see how many cars or homes could get buried!
