      I discovered this channel about three weeks ago. I wake up at night to go to my computer and listen. These songs run through my head 24/7 these days. They'll also MAKE my Summer. What a collection. Superb stuff.

      FYI - Walter was the co-founder of Steely Dan. He and Donald Fagen ARE Steely Dan. He played guitar and bass on all of their records.

      I would say he was a little more than that: co-wrote almost every Steely Dan song with Fagan ever released, played lead guitar on numerous top Steely Dan songs including F.M., Josie, Pretzel Logic, Home at Last and many others. yeah, slightly more than just the base player, which he was excellent on also.

      Yes, check out his two solo records, “Eleven Tracks of Whack” and “Circus Money.” I think he is at least as good a singer as Fagen, but a low voice like his wasn’t appropriate for the 1970s, when high voices were de rigueur in popular music. And of course when you read/listen to his lyrics, you will realize what has been missing from the lyrics in Fagen’s solo work.

      There was nothing like him. He was so creative, and mixed and matched lyrics, and instruments better than anybody. Like around the 4 minute mark as an example.

      @@davebartholome2924 I remember Donald paying tribute to Walter's writing, saying that he had a great understanding of people's psychology. And, if I remember correctly, Donald also said that if Walter had had the patience, he could have written novels.
