This is the exact unit that I have been looking at, (sold by TruckFridge). Hands down, this is the best review that I have seen anywhere!! Good job, and Thanks!!

I have a ARB 50qt fridge with Dan Foss compressor, I got it in 2011 and runs like a champ,
What I found out, the low battery monitor didn't work with a 10 amp fuse in the 12 volt plug, I replaced it with a 30 amp fuse and it works like it's supposed too.
I say this because as soon as you turn off truck, the fridge would turn off saying low voltage. Hope this helps.

(1:00) "You're not gonna be able to take this out of your vehicle..."
Sure you can. Just get a flexible solar panel (like PowerFilm). If running directly off the panel, you'd need a large one -- about 90 watts -- to be sure you have enough power in low light. That panel would cost two or three times as much as the fridge.
But add a stand-alone battery and things get better. The fridge only draws power intermittently so a smaller panel could keep it charged between cycles. This would remove any concern about depleting your car battery. And with a separate power system you would have a power source for other things like phone or computer.
Personally, I wouldn't want my car battery _ever_ getting so low that the fridge cut off. Keeping the car running is much more important than keeping the fridge running.

I bought an igloo electric cooler at Costco. Runs on a cigarette plug or a 110 household plug. Was under $200 cad and works great. Have used it in 35+ celcius and kept my stuff ice cold. The cooler works well even when not plugged in, as it has a gasketed seal.

Ronny Dahl shells his eggs and dumps them into a bottle. Lasts a few days in the fridge and is instant scrambled eggs, no mess, super easy.

I can do you one better! I tried this on my last trip; I brought a blender bottle that people use for protein shakes. It holds one dozen eggs (I was making a big mountain man breakfast in a dutch oven) and it fluffed the eggs up PERFECTLY. The wire beater ball in the protein shaker does a great job of whipping the eggs.

Hey, I finally bought this fridge after seeing your video. It works great, I got the tb41a.
The question is... do you know where can i find the bolts needed to fix it somewhere? if you look below it it has 3 holes prepared for it.
i was just wondering if you found this out.
I've seen bases and stuff but I am looking for the bolts

Anyone know where to find the error codes and what they mean?
    I've got er1 on 12v or 240v, not e1, the low power warning, er1.
    Cheers!!

I received my Truckfridge TB51A Danfoss compression refrigerator yesterday. I really like it. Not sure what the A means. Do you know? It's going into my 2017 GMC Savana cargo van 2500. It would be nice to see how you set it up electrically. It has handles? I was looking for handles!, $600 currently plus shipping.

I think the A in TB51A means AC/DC. The DC only version is called TB51DC.

After watching your review I purchased the TB51 through TruckFridge.com as a refurbished through eBay. I went to look for a protective cover and I can't find anyone that has them in stock. On your video you used the Waeco CF40 cover for your TB41... how did you figure out that it would fit? I'm trying to find a cover that fits, don't care whose name is on it. By that same logic I would think a Waeco CF50 cover would fit my TB51. The site doesn't give actual dimensions, just the "folded" dimensions. The Indel TB 51 is 13 3/4" W x 20 1/2" H x 23" Thank You for the review BTW

Those are the exact seat covers I want. What brand did you go with and how do you like them?

    • @overlandlab3801

      Hey!
I went with these guys: www.autoanything.com/seat-covers/coverking-kryptek-camo-tactical-ballistic-seat-covers
I think I'll do a video on them later, but in short, I do like them for the most part. The fabric is high quality, but some of the stitching is a little wonky (if I'm being picky). One or two of the plastic clips has broken on my set, and the molle webbing is a little uneven. Molle on the back of the seats SOUNDS good in principle, but it does get "floppy," as it really "hangs" over the back of the seat, so I would use it for small gear (headlamps, cables, pens, and similar). If you wanted ot get creative, you could find a way to secure it better, but I haven't gone through the trouble.
They are tricky to install because the fabric is tight, but it does settle in after some use and get a more "perfect" fit.
That said, despite all the abuse I've put them through (including two ornery dogs that tend to hang out in the back seat) they have held up well. The kryptek typhoon matches the grey interior really well and the military pattern annoys my wife (BONUS!). I do like them, but if you're expecting excellent attention to detail, you might be disappointed. If you're looking to put heavy gear on the back of the seat, it might be worthwhile to find a dedicated organizer.

I mostly want them for the look and for my 120lb chocolate lab that hangs out in the back and runs from side to side depending on the scenery. I wonder if the cover king brand is any tougher?

    • @overlandlab3801
      @overlandlab3801  7 лет назад +1

I THINK they're all made by the same people (Skanda\Coverking) but don't quote me on that. I feel like I did my research at one point and that held true.
On the dog fur front, the cover do see to realllly strong bind dog fur. I really want to get a dog hammock like this: www.duluthtrading.com/search/searchresults/32006.aspx?kw=dog%20seat%20cover&processor=content
for when the boys come with. That way, when the trip is over the dog hair is (reasonably) contained. It seems like a good idea, and it'll help cut down on dog-related wear-and-tear.

The only thing that annoys me about this unit is the display, and controls are on the wrong end. They don't face out like all of the rest on the market.
