    Technically, it's a full-body movement, but it's simply too light to train strength past the beginner stage. I do it mostly for cardio.

      Do it more slowly.
      Add weight to yourself.
      Do it at a more challenging angle.
      So many ways to make it a strength excersize

    Bro no you went too far with this.
    1. This is not explosive bc its neither stable nor fast. You cant explode bc you would fall.
    2. This is not a squat. Gravity points down.
    3. The load from this is neither progressive nor standardised enough to actually track any kind of progress.
    4. This does NOT burn an appreciable amount of calories for the effort put in compared to any actual cardio exercise like running or rowing.

      It could be a bad Warmup issue.
      Maybe work on shoulder mobility.
      Or try back to wall handstand to strengthen the area.

      You might have some shoulder mobility issues there buddy, you should try doing some mobility exercises and if you're still feeling pain or discomfort, speak to a specialist.

    This is a yoga push up. Called a dand. Its an exercise usually combined with sit ups its called dand baithak and somewhat resembles a burpee that ends with this kind of push up.

    The original Mike Tyson push-ups are in a similar position except for the toes of your feet are not touching the ground this is this is 10 times harder to do

    How to do this without shoulder pain?

      I’d try adding dead hangs. It’s worked over any stretching for me and keeps them feeling great.

    Tyson was definitely not known for cardio and endurance... power, this helps connective tissue and force output... very functional

    accidentally been doing these....
    My elbow is very clicky when I push up, but not always.. plus I can feel my shoulderblades almost connecting when I do tight arm push ups and it feels weird... any advice anyone?
    I've been accidently doing calisthenics stuff without realising it lol... I can't do proper push ups consistently yet so I spend a lot of time just moving my body weight around and holding poses and planks
    But push ups are Crunchy on my elbow 😔

      Yeah it is for me. One of my favourite HIIT is 5mins of skipping and 10-15reps of MT push ups. I normally do 3 sets of this and end with a 5mins of stretching. It only took 30mins.

    This is in Surya namaskar in yoga and the Hindu pushups invented by ancient warriors. Not gonna lie, the Mike Tyson pushup is just a variation of that, to be honest.
    I started doing them a month ago, and I've already noticed some changes, like increased strength and endurance.

    One of the best things this does is it hits most of the small ends of the muscles and the connective tissues in the shoulder. Strengthening them at multiple angles which is great for injury prevention and gives you strength at those varying angles. I would suggest everyone be able to do 3 sets of 10 and do them PRIOR to any other upper body workout.

      @ it is buddy, its called "ardha surya namaskar" when you do it like a pushup.
      It is still a staple exercise in the gym , where you will have specific foot rest to jam your feet so you could do it right from the bottom of the range.
      I know this because me and my friend Afzal use to love these and hand a deep discussion on how this exercise evolved.
      Both of us did a research on the thoroughly to master the technique so that full body can be trained as warmup or if it's a holiday we could do it at home or in a hotel on a vacation.

      @@shree397 it’s not Ardha Surya Namaskar brother. It’s a variation of pushup a sort of progressive push-up variation. Ardha Surya Namaskar is different from this pushup. I get that it reminded you of Ardha Surya Namaskar because of its posture, but it does have a lot of difference than similarities with Ardha Surya Namaskar.
