I'm so happy that Hasbro released that Darwin figure. I make sure to watch every video now just to see Darwin's antics
my plan is working
Actually I trying to buy Darwin due to Anthony's reviews only 😅
@@AnthonysCustoms We demand more Naruti Figures reviews
They have better claws that they used for only 3 Wolverine figures now. They also can ALWAYS include the bone claws that they used only 1 time and nobody would complain about it.
Glad you mentioned the inconsistencies between the heads and bodies lately because that's been a real eyesore. The stylistic inconsistency is irritating. Makes the figure look unfinished at best, and at worst, it's the action figure equivalent of Frank Frazetta heads photoshopped onto Akira Toriyama bodies - both styles are fine by themselves but when the two are sloppily mixed, you get crap.
I would love it if you did a long video explaining action figure design and engineering for every joint and used examples of good figures and bad at each POA. Your technical knowledge of action figures is why you arey favorite reviewer by a mile, buy I would love an "Action Figure Engineering 101" video or an "Action Figure do's and don'ts" to put everything together in on. It would be great for new viewers and collectors in general.
Keep up the great work!
I did one of those videos already. I decided to hold off on anymore for the time being but they may come back in the future. If you haven't seen it, look for "articulation explanation"
I really hate how Hasbro seemingly can't decide if they want Legends to be a realistic interpretation of comic characters or a stylized version. I would much prefer stylized that matches the source material which means I'd love to dump the painted lips they do on most male characters. Male characters usually have lips that just match their flesh tone, which isn't realistic, but it's the aesthetic I'm used to being more of an early 90s X-Men guy. Also annoyed the VHS Wolverine didn't get those fist hands with the channels on them. Instead we got crappy gripping hands that are too small. Definitely appreciate the technical approach of your reviews, they never feel long to me. Great job!
thanks for the input
The way you explained the design issue from their end is quite clear! And the pics are such a joy xD
thanks a lot
Q of the Day: I wouldn’t want the blue and yellow uniforms to be my default X-Men, but I do dig them, and they’ll be a welcome addition to my collection. They’re certainly better than the bulk of the character selection we got in 2020-2022.
This figure has so many issues that just add up to me. When I saw the claws, I was shocked that they'd re-use them, because those things turn out below average *at best.* Didn't even notice the feet, but man they look weird. Just off enough to throw the look off, same with the really small shoulders (I usually don't even notice shoulder issues, but even *I* noticed this time). Boot swivel's location is a weird decision, because this seems to be a new sculpt, so... were they just lazy? Or are the straps a floating piece, in which case... put them lower? The head sculpts are good, though, and the figure looks good aside from the shoulders, claws and weak paint job. You could mostly easily fix the issues with this figure... but for the price, you shouldn't have to, especially for such an easy design to get right.
the straps arent floating but they need to be there and the swivel cant be higher on the leg due to the knee joint.
I watch your videos not only because I like them, but you give your honest opinion everytime and don’t sugar coat them figures you review just to look good.
Thank you for what you do!
Me too! People like shartimus prime sound like they’re on a pay roll, he even recommended the McFarlane the Batman toy
Honestly, we should get a set of hands with UN-removable claws, lined up perfectly with the hand-hilts. Those who actually look like claws and not tooth-picks. Also, we should get fist- and chop-hands. Darwin could be the channel's new mascot. Always getting into trouble, it seems.
It looks like Logan is wearing lipstick. 6:39
I'm a fan of the run from 273-281 so I'm happy with the b/g suits with caveats. Storm should be in the proto-gold team silver suit, or the figure they're providing needs the space gear from 277 (which that three pack does not include.) Hasbro is charging way too much though. At least Wolverine has a good headsculpt.
How is everybody getting these releases so early though?
The implementation of these claws is poor, but the look is superior to the logs coming out of the X-Force Wolvies hands.
i buy all my ml from bbts.
I don’t hate the yellow blue uniform. It has its charm, but if I have to choose one, I prefer the individual costumes .
I don’t know - with all the Wolverine figures out so far, I’m still not happy with the Logan face. I still want to see a comic accurate one - by John Byrnes or Jim Lee, preferably.
Darwin The Prince of All Mutants. Can't fool nobody with that obvious Vegeta reference. In all seriousness, great job explaining the interiors of the articulation.
In fact, I had a little custom of my own, I used a deathstroke head from mcfarlane, used a GI Joe Classified neck that uses the double ball peg, and used the armored spidey's double ball peg because I found out that the bottom part of the neck is a perfect fit for a mcfarlane toys figure, just needed a hairdryer to put it altogether, as a result I got to see the kind of range the head would do in hand and it was awesome.
Anthony's Customs Question of the Day Answer: Take it or leave it. I can take Wolverine in any variant as long as the product is of value. This one is not worth the value because of the price being asked. If I want to complete the Yellow and Blue team, I am going to wait until the team is reduced in price to even consider purchasing this. Seven characters? At current rates that is over to $250 CAN with our taxes. Value dictates if I want to complete a team that is going to cost me $250, it better be worth the value.
I am definitely a fan of the yellow suits, although I do prefer everyone having unique suits in general I still think it’s a very cool look and I think the figures will look nice together
Hopefully the last Wolverine I'm ever gonna buy lol claws suck tho
Its your mascot :D call Darwin your mascot :D This Wolverine has a nice body ...but dont get it why they still use these claws... just hate them.
Hasbro loves to digress in their progress of figure making
I think these are the best unmasked Wolverine headsculpts Hasbro has released, all things considered. This looks the closest to 90's Logan.
This Wolvie’s eyes could be a bit bigger so it doesn’t look like he’s looking directly at the sun
hope you update us on "your line" of figures soon i want mah cyberpunky figs allready
I prefer brown and orange Wolverine but the yellow unmasked one is cool too.
I can't unsee the feet/shoes problem now lol that's a terrible design for the head/neck, feet/shoes and the WORST part are those stupid, stupid claws. I cannot believe that they still use those in 2023 when they know that they have better claws and hands. Then to add the random fist as a second set is pure lazy. :/ damn it Hasbro
I was looking foward to this team release.I picked up Wolverine for £21 which is okay, however £80 for a three pack i just can't bring myself do it. i will keep my eye on these and picked them up on sale. Granted i say this when the three packs are still sitting available on every site in the UK. will i change my mind if they start selling out...we will see.
good luck
I honestly think they keep with this big ball peg for the head just so you can't switch heads with other Hasbro lines like GI Joe or Power Rangers. I mean, how hard is it to get best practices from their sister brands? 😆
I love how you notice and explain things that no one else does! You’re right about their design concept mixing overly simplified with realistic…Personally I hate it and think it should be one or the other. I love the pose with Wolverine’s head flying off! Thanks for your excellent content Anthony 💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
With every video Darwin is becoming more and more powerful
They need to scrap those claws
The Darwin bits are making me want to buy Darwin😂😂😂
Hasbro’s been really good about Wolverine’s height, with him being 5’3 and all
This reminds me of the old toy biz wolverine from the 90s.
Yes, Love the uniform look
Fond memories of this costume, but probably shouldn't be buying another Wolverine at the price. I might've bought it anyway for the heads, which would be SO close to being perfect Jim Lee representations if the eyebrows were slightly lower. Agree 100% on the duck feet and yes, the fists are too stupid.
Even with the flaws I like the look of this figure. As for the actual suit, I never understood why the fully fledged X-Men wouldn't wear their usual costumes. The new Mutants wore similar costumes to these (like the first Xmen) as they were trainees.
The lollipop situation is definitely bad, but honestly I've had it to about here with Hasbro doing these ridiculous traps. Just stop. JFC. Every muscular buck they use other than Vulcan has these ridiculous, bulgy traps that look out of proportions compared to the rest of the body.
they look that bad because of the tiny low shoulders.
@@AnthonysCustoms Oh, wait. Yeah there it is.
Just fix the shoulders HASBRO. Actually they already have a couple of figures using pretty nice shoulders. Do more of those.
I really wonder if this lines up with the 2 upcoming 3-packs...
I agree with you on the realism thing Anthony. The realistic heads mixed with the cartoony bodies doesn’t make any sense. Also, I still don’t understand why Hasbro refuses to give these figures the proper comic book character proportions. The Venompool figure they made is so far IMO the best proportioned figure that they have made to date, with Caliban being a close second and Monster Venom being a close third. It’s like they think only the big characters are the ones that have the comic book hero proportions, and that’s why a lot of BAFs look so good (which is funny because even those have been lackluster lately). It really does feel like it’s either a) Hasbro doesn’t care about the accuracy and; or source material b) they’re spending budget on the wrong things c) they don’t think the general consumer will care/notice these issues with the accuracy to the source material. The way I see it, it’s actually a mixture of all three of those things.
Really want this figure. Hey!💡 You should make new claws/claw hands for all these Wolverine figures.
Who will Darwin take on next? Find out next time!
Having the figure in hand, I had to watch this again, the feet are huge and the shape... yeah. As far as source material it fails at the neck, where it should have a buckle strap thing and not have fabric going up into his head, where is the flesh tone on the neck? This torso is problematic with it's odd shaped neck. Just wait till you see Forged right leg, anxiously awaiting that review. The yellow paint on all of this team is bad and needed a second coat to cover the blue.
I have this figure for my first wolverine and he's a cool figure but I do want a modern tiger stripe wolverine with more hands and normal claws.
I'm not a huge fan of the blue and yellow suits; however, because the old toybiz wolverine that this figure pays homage to was my first x-men toy, I get the nostalgia hit from this particular figure.
Geez that neck and ball peg at the top of the neck is so bad. Legends is wearing out and the releases are closer to the basic $10 releases, not for $25 or more.
I like these head sculpts and want to pick this up for my Retro Card brown suit Wolverine! 🤘🖤
Yep these new head sculpts are my default now for any of my unmasked Wolverine's. Took an extra heat claws Wolverine and gave that unmasked head to my Tigerstripe and now thinking about giving one of these heads to my brown costume
I must ask, what is Darwin’s origin video? Lol
I’m done collecting marvel legends the price removed the itch I had for them
Darwin has really made these videos so much more fun
i dont think hasbro plastic would be good enough to give him decent permanent popped claws.
they use abs all the time. even the other removable claws being put in permanently would be fine.
Lol. Where’s this same critique on mcfarlane figs? Standards for todd way lower ay. All the limbs and articulation r better than any bats he has. 9 for him is a 7 for legends im gauging. Bats v Wolvi battle next video! We’re all here for it )
Mcfarlane generally loses because he doesn't understand scaling. as a result his figures dont "play well" with others. not to mention the ankles and thighs looks stretched on mcfarlane figs cuz he is trying to maintain that odd 7 inch scale. it's just atrocious all the way around
Bone claws would have been pretty rad.
I have one of the older versions of this and yeah, the shoulders move more there. Maybe they're using the pegs from the newer molds.
I don't like the blue & yellow, more of a Jim Lee costume fan
ANTHONY WHATS UPDATE ON RIVAL CLANS
Hasbro needs to step up there game
In a perfect world, Paul Harding wouldn't just be doing new headsculpts...
The problem is that no matter how talented a sculptor is Hasbro can hamstring them into making less than great things.
I like the nostalgia factor of the whole package as I had the original Toy Biz release.
Only good thing about these claw hands is you can remove them then glue them straight. They’re still way better then the claws we used to get on Wolverine.
You mean forever ago? Sure. But there are better ones now from the last couple years
@@AnthonysCustoms Yes, exactly!
Wolverine claws on Darwin!
Shading? You mean like a black wash? Idk sounds dumb
No. I mean shading.
@@AnthonysCustoms like cel shading?
no. airbrushed color
@@AnthonysCustoms how would that look?
In my opinion i would of rated this release a little lower!, wolverine's claws are the main attraction to purchase the figure and those things look god awful.. it makes no sense they dont use the House Of X, wolverine claws! Its like Spiderman figures without the his signature Wall crawling hands! Is just a slap on the face!
I had the og fig, the claws retracted
Huge fan of this particular team that happened to have on these suits.
All about the blue and yellow ,but the classic Jim Lee suit designs are where it's at for me.
Those claws need to be scrapped.
Darwin is probably the only figure I want from marvel legends from hasbro. Other than that, yeah gonna pass on all the other marvel legends. Since the prices are just about in the neca range.
Excited for another major character to crossover into the pinless realm, totally agree about the small sized shoulders though and personally not the look that I care for so i'll wait for the next costume on this body.
“.8 Darwins” 😂 love that measuring scale.
Dam!! Great review…. Looking forward to your line bro!!!
Im not a fan of the uniforms as far as for figures, it was cool in the comics but i like a more diverse look on the shelf. Will probably still get this on sale for the heads to use on my tiger stripe wolverine. Darwin is savage..lol.
Wolverine with a big belt. Is Logan trying to compensate for something 😉
Hasbro is a weird company
Not a fan of the blue and yellow for him. Everything you make a reference to your figure line I get renewed hope that we might be closer to getting a release date.
Hey Anthony, you ever consider reviewing transformers stuff?
He usually does. He's reviewed some Optimus prime and another one not to long ago. If I remember correctly
I'm not a fan of the price to complete the team which is why it's a pass for me
I dunno, I think the bicep : shoulder size looks ok. Check out some old pics of Arnold, for a comparison.
they arent ok. and wolverine (especially this figure isn't built like arnold) but even if he was, my statement is still correct.
This figure is dope
Clearly all superheroes wear barefoot shoes.
I prefer Wolverine with knuckle tubers. But I don't like those claws. A middle ground between the wide knife knuckle movie style claws and classic skinny back of the hand claws would be nice. These are just too flimsy. I've never interpreted the claws as intentional removable, just an engineering quirk we take advantage of. First decent looking Logan heads though.
when they first came out they were marketed as being removable.
Oh really. Wild. They're the size of a choking hazard.
Just from the thumbnail, I imagine gummy plastic, poor paint job, wobbly legs, damn it, I got PTS from collecting Legends.
those claw hands are really bad
Appreciate the in-depth reviews! Seeing Darwin's antics and usefulness as a measuring tool has me seriously thinking about buying a Darwin figure that's spent months warming the pegs at my local Walmart.
strange and weird review.
How?
2nd! Love your vids Anthony!!!
