Hot Wheels does Not come close to Mini GT or Tarmac Works. The price reflects the detail, scale accuracy and quality. You get what you pay for rings true here.

I’ve just started collecting these, predominantly the kaido house one,
But what is the depreciation on them being opened ?

Well, if you wanna display them, then you don't have any choices - at least here in Europe, because they only come here in these little cardboard boxes. These Mijo-Exclusive-Packagings (blister) are mainly sold in the US. Well, from time to time you can get them here also - and in this case it is an option to "display" them in the packaging. If I get very rare ones like chases from Mini GT in the blister, I also do not open them. But from time to time I also buy loose, opened models (with the cardboard box). Because Mini GT models are made for collectors, and normally they are treated very well and also used in perfect condition. I can't tell you an exact number, but if you're just buying them as an investment, you shouldn't open them. But I love unboxing them, and to feel the quality - and then putting them on display.
