@@StingerDiecast great - thank you for your reply. Do you have any videos similar to this one comparing the likes of Mini GT to and if the super premium brands you mentioned above?
@@shal9047 I consider them premium, at least for the older blind box cars. The newer releases are priced at super premium levels though and I haven't picked up any of them so can't say if they're in that category now or not.
I'm not sure, Mijo certainly wants to imply that's the case and some of their releases do have limited numbers on them but it's unclear how many of the international releases are made for comparison. Mijo does do the "chase" thing so those are more rare but in my opinion they're not really chases for anyone other than the hobby dealers that mark them up. I've never heard of anyone getting a Mijo chase instead of a regular release without paying extra for it.
Lack of brake discs are fine for me, as MiniGT occupies a comfortable pricing level where most other brands just doesn't fit well. It's a good trade-off, especially for the kind and amount of models they churn out every month. Puts it in a place where it's an affordable awesome model brand where others just don't quite get it.
I've been considering buying some Mini GTs but for $15 to $20CAD each for me is hard to justify whereas I can buy 2 or 3 HW premiums. But I might just bite the bullet because they look so good.
The advantage these have over hot wheels is that 1 they look just as good if not better in most cases, 2 you cant get alot of the decos in hot wheels and some of the Mini GTs look like pieces of art....and 3 is availability and price....these are actually more affordable than alot of premium hot wheels that scalpers hoard and then resell on ebay for 2 ,3 and even 4 times the value.. ❤
In my case, the retail price between Mini GT and Hot Wheels Premium aren't that far off. Mini GT cost about 10 USD, while HW Premium cost around 8 USD. It certainly a no-brainer for some to spend slightly more in exchange of better details
I stopped collecting Hot Wheels once I discovered MINI GT, they're more expensive in comparison, but in my country there's never Hot Wheels on the shelves due to scalpers, and resale prices go as high as $5 USD, so if I'm going to be spending money, it better be worth it. After MINI GT I also started collection Tarmac Works (both Hobby64 and Global64), INNO64, TimeMicro and some other brands. They are pricey, but the quality is there (most of the times).
I get it, hot wheels in my country go from 3USD to 4USD so it isn't as cheap to get them and i prefer to get 1 really good model rather than 6 'normal' ones.
TSM makes fantastic models...I am quite a fan of their 1/43 scale models...no wonder the 1/64 versions are quite cool models compared with most of the competitors.. My honest issue with Mini GT is that they don't make all models at 1/43 scale as well :( and I say that because there are a lot of Mini GT models that I want to see as TSM 1/43 models as well...
Have they still been actively releasing 1/43 scale models? I haven't really paid any attention but it seems like Inno and Tarmac at least have really slowed down their larger scale releases but I clearly don't follow it closely enough to really know.
@@StingerDiecast the amount of models released by TSM surely decreased in the last period, but they stil make some cool models..and the models they announced to make are really really cool ..
I always seem to want models that no one makes or a good version anyway for awhile it was an s14 until Tarmac came out with theirs. Then a Honda ridgeline. Then a 70 caprice or impala that's 4 door. Then a 69 caprice or impala also 4 door. Nope. I don't think they've made a 56 Ford Crown vic either. And a small handful of others.I don't really like liveries unless it's drift, and even then, I'm picky. Although in my defense, I do like basic colors over any livery design. And these companies like to throw everything in crazy colors, metallics, etc. I don't like greens or yellows at all. And certain vehicles only look good in certain colors. Metallics, red, and silvers are very vehicle specific. Whites and blacks look good in pretty much everything. Edit: I forgot s14 zenki, which is a pre 96 with the round lights. Plus, usually all the silvias they make are all RHD, and they don't really make 240sx, which would be the U.S. versions in LHD
Im wondering about collecting some Mini GT models. I have 50 premium hot wheels and about 30 avaible slots on my shell to fill it by car models. What would you recommend? Does Mini GT is worth their price? Important thing to me is rolling wheels. I heard that Inno 64 and Tarmac Works have sometimes problems with rolling tires.
Worth the price is something only you can answer, they definitely are for me but everybody's sense of value is going to be different. Mini GT does roll pretty well as does Tarmac Works Global64 line. Inno64 and Tarmac Works Hobby64 roll sometimes but most of the time do not.
@@StingerDiecast Thank you for the answer! I looked now at ur videos on ur chanell. Ur making great job here! Can you also tell me which brand have the best details? Price is not important for me. Greetings from 🇵🇱

Awesome review! I’m a big fan of Mini GT I don’t thing people should sleep on this brand they are looking better all the time! If they can continue to balance price with quality I predict long term success. Thanks for the awesome review on the brand! New Subscriber ❤😎👍👍
hello matte. Thx for the video and the review. I would like to coment about one thing, that is the model cars u picked to compare. I mean, relative to HW mainline, we get what we pay and they do alot indeed (no complain), but yet you have picked 2 castings where they have mirronrs and even the headlights are acrylic. those two are not very representative of mainlines in general, where 99% of mainlines are no mirrors and with no prints on the front and back lights. Another thing is that HW mainlines in europe cost 2 to 2.5€ so they are double or more then double that cost in USA. I think the true comparioson to mini gt should be against premium from HW. Its there i think sometimes HW does not do such a good job. Again u have picked one of the most complete castings they do, with mirrors and acrylic headlights and lot of printings. In Europe a premiun HW cost about 10€ each and a mini GT 13/15 so for the diference we get alot more with mini GT. more acurate body, more detailed rubber mirrors, seperate piece to spoiler and lights. more realistic and diverse wheels. Wheels with same size, etc etc etc. So its a bit of a shame HW is letting go the market, at least on this side of the map. I had alot of HW but a big chunk is going away. whell just wanted to share my opinion. GJ on tehe videos. cheers
have in mind that the HW premiums in the rest of the world are more than 10 $ car... so they comparison is fair.. to my eyes. cause 10$ hot wheels... vs 15 $ premium and the meaning is that has it all.
Mini GT is a great brand when you compare mainline Hot Wheels they don't stand up too bad when you think they only cost $1 or in my case £1.50 good for the price point what irritate me and it's not a knock to Hot Wheels is there premium cost over here in the UK cost 7 to 8 pounds all they are is slightly better detailed mainlines so it makes sense to spend a few extra pounds and get a mini GT or a Tarmac works and get the extra exact detail 👍👍👍
Yeah the prices for Hot Wheels Premium in the UK, EU and Aus all seem really off putting. Doubly worse even for things like the Matchbox Collectors Series. I just watched a Diecast Dude video where he was looking at the Collector Series and they were 10 euros which isn't even close to worth it. How much does Mini GT typically run you in the UK?
It depends there's not a lot of dealers here that sell it online the 1 main UK dealer about 12 pounds is an average price the more popular pieces or newer pieces £15 to £20 tarmac works is more expensive again 👍👍
For the money The detail you get with the casting is fantastic, I have several Mini GTs and I like the casting They do a lot of the JDM and exotic cars with some of them I do like Not as much as the JDM style to see do American style Muscle cars Mini GT are for display not to be put on the track in my opinion. Just found your channel's greatr video
From what I experience, my local Hot Wheels community is not that good. Either they spend much of the time discussing how to get the highest profit possible or create drama over the smallest thing possible. In contrast, other brand communities is more enjoyable. They talked about photography, custom, gathering event, fun fact, in-depth review and historical dive (Aka actual passionate people). That's one of the reason why I switching from Hot Wheels
I have a number of their race cars only, including all four corvette c8s, ford gt (4 car package) and the Accura NSX Gte evo. great cars. Sparky better and more expensive and tarmac works more expensive and best of the bunch..
Not gonna lie, I buy HW cars as toys. I drive them all over my desk like the Fast and Furious movies. For $1 - $2, you can't complain and you have fun. I agree HW premium ain't worth the higher price, all my absolute favorite cars I buy MiniGT, Inno or Tarmac and I still buy the HW if I wanna play with the car.
I don’t mind if it doesn’t say the name of the car on the bottom, but the number would be interesting although that won’t be possible. Mini GT has made announcements on cars before but lost the license so they actually ended up using a previously taken number for a new model.
Once the model is issued though it shouldn’t be reused so seems like something they could do. I’d just be happy if they would consistently put the info there. It’s not a major issue right now but through time it will be hard to know variations if you separate the car from the box like I do. I have this issue with Johnny Lighting too where I have some cars that I simply don’t know what they are.
I wish I had more side fund I would buy everything they make. But for now I just get my ultra faves .. what brand has more realism and derails than this brand? Let me know, I buy them all and I spent a ton of money of some small kyoshos and I would of rather bought minigts
There are definitely brands that have more detail but only at a higher price point. Inno64 in particular has been putting out a ton of fantastic releases but they are $20 and up and I consider them a different category. For the $10-$20 range nobody beats Mini GT.
I personally consider that a good thing. While I definitely appreciate opening parts at times there's no avoiding the fact that in 1/64 scale an opening part will almost always compromise the model due to the panel gaps. I think Mini GT made the right choice in avoiding them for now since it would also likely require a higher price point in order to maintain the same quality. That said, both Tarmac Works and Inno64 are starting to bring out opening parts models and it actually wouldn't surprise me to see Mini GT eventually do the same but at a higher price point. I do have to admit I am really looking forward to the Tarmac Works Hobby64+ Lancia with opening features.

Seconded; best brand under $15, smart packaging, but blank bottoms is just lazy. They know what car they made; why not tell customers what they are holding in their hands?

@@shal9047 I consider them premium, at least for the older blind box cars. The newer releases are priced at super premium levels though and I haven't picked up any of them so can't say if they're in that category now or not.
I have half of hotwheels collection and half of minigt, tomica collection
Fine video Karl. Very knowledgeable.
Thanks Chris.
Great video! Im new to the hobby of collecting this scale. Are mini GT’S more “rare” when they are in the mijo plastic packaging?
I'm not sure, Mijo certainly wants to imply that's the case and some of their releases do have limited numbers on them but it's unclear how many of the international releases are made for comparison. Mijo does do the "chase" thing so those are more rare but in my opinion they're not really chases for anyone other than the hobby dealers that mark them up. I've never heard of anyone getting a Mijo chase instead of a regular release without paying extra for it.
I collect mini gt and inno and tarmac now but I still look at the hot wheels every once in a while
Lack of brake discs are fine for me, as MiniGT occupies a comfortable pricing level where most other brands just doesn't fit well. It's a good trade-off, especially for the kind and amount of models they churn out every month. Puts it in a place where it's an affordable awesome model brand where others just don't quite get it.
They have so much amazing stuff coming too so they're just getting started which is awesome.
My 1/64 scales have slotted disc brakes red calipers real alloys and rubber tires! 😮
@@StingerDiecast You should check out my collection it’s pretty epic
I've been considering buying some Mini GTs but for $15 to $20CAD each for me is hard to justify whereas I can buy 2 or 3 HW premiums. But I might just bite the bullet because they look so good.
They’re a big step up from Hot Wheels premium but getting into buying them can definitely be dangerous for your wallet so watchout. 😎✌️
So you are saying forget about Hot Wheels and just buy Mini GT? I'm new to the community so forgive my stupid question@@StingerDiecast
The Mini Gt JTCC and IMSA releases are incredible.
Yeah Mini GT is really knocking it out of the park with the IMSA stuff. Really looking forward to the Mazda DPi that's coming.
Greetings from 🇵🇱
@@blckhwkie7968 tarmac works, the best and most expensive.
Thank you for this wonderful video.
GTs are NEXT for sure
Pretty good value for that brand!
Yeah, to me they have really hit the sweet spot for detail and quality vs cost.
Great video! I'm looking to get my 1st Mini GT. I'm just earning about some of these brands. Incredible
what did you end up getting?
@@vdubskiee5356 got the Shelby Dragonsnake concept, Corvette Stingray, & the Bugotti Vision Gran Turismo, awesome models

Wow just read this answer two years later. LOL
i assume you mean my love for The Fast and The furious collecting?
Anyways hope you come back to youtube man i miss your videos
Well for four years, they already improved a lot especially on their Bugatti model
Yeah a lot of the new stuff is fantastically good but realistically they've been surprisingly good from the outset. I guess there was a period where they had some QC issues but that seems to be resolved now.
@@StingerDiecastupdate
Their Red Bull RB18 and new Mclaren cars are so good
Awesome review! I’m a big fan of Mini GT I don’t thing people should sleep on this brand they are looking better all the time! If they can continue to balance price with quality I predict long term success. Thanks for the awesome review on the brand! New Subscriber ❤😎👍👍
Love Mini GT. Although i have only one model Shelby GT500 but i absolutely love it. I have no complaints about this model It's fantastic
hello matte.
Yeah over $10 for a HW premium is steep and hard to accept. We definitely have it good as far as Hot Wheels pricing goes in the US.
Definitivamente los detalles del Mini GT están a otro nivel , Like 👍🏻
Thanks
MINI GT destroys hot wheels mainline and hot wheels premium when it comes to price, insane amount of detail, storage box, and blister packaging.
What color is the mini GT land over? Thanks
Hotwheels putting their logo as part of the livery is a huge turn off
For the money The detail you get with the casting is fantastic, I have several Mini GTs and I like the casting They do a lot of the JDM and exotic cars with some of them I do like Not as much as the JDM style to see do American style Muscle cars Mini GT are for display not to be put on the track in my opinion. Just found your channel's greatr video
10:32 That's a police truck from my country, Indonesia 🇮🇩
Great video!
What number mtg did you open the video with?
Is mini gt metal body and chassis and is the side mirror not rubber? cause I'm not a fan of rubber side mirrors
Where do you purchase MiniGt? Thanks !
Mini gt brand is a couple steps UP from hotwheels brand.....but WAIT. I contradict myself.....the hotwheels premium line is pretty darn good.
Yeah Hot Wheels Premium can definitely be really nice.
COOL MAN
Nice
Bro which app have you used to order this car ?
This brand is not sold where I am at in stores. Ordering online they are $15 on average. For this reason I only have one of these.
Nice collection bro
Thanks Zelda
Where do you order mini GT models ?
Various places but my preferred seller is Surplusgoodies on ebay.
I buy every single Mini GT Kaido House on the market.
From what I've seen, I still reckon the Hot Wheels community is huge and has a good vibe. Not really see much in the way of brands such as MiniGT.
Ive got the mini GT fever 😁🤪🚘😎✌🏼🏴
🤣👍😎✌️
Me too , McN ! I think it's catching . 8-)
I have a number of their race cars only, including all four corvette c8s, ford gt (4 car package) and the Accura NSX Gte evo. great cars. Sparky better and more expensive and tarmac works more expensive and best of the bunch..
Yep a bunch of brands putting out fantastic race cars. It will be really exciting to see the Tarmac Ferrari GT3 and GTE models.

@@StingerDiecast yeah being thinking to get a couple favorites myself cheers
Not gonna lie, I buy HW cars as toys. I drive them all over my desk like the Fast and Furious movies. For $1 - $2, you can't complain and you have fun. I agree HW premium ain't worth the higher price, all my absolute favorite cars I buy MiniGT, Inno or Tarmac and I still buy the HW if I wanna play with the car.
I love the new premium die-cast models available today but Hot Wheels will always win hands-down on performance - they are just fun cars!
Yes they are. 👍
We're do they sell mini gt cars?
how do i buy mini gt cars? i’ve been on their website and I cant see how to get them. Do you have to get them at release?
I know that you can get them via AliExpress, other ways, I don't know
I wish I had more side fund I would buy everything they make.
Very Nice
Thank you.
Very nice 👌 video 👍
Thank you so much
Yes the box looks like a shaving box great realism but for 15$ there are no openable features that is sad
Does anybody know where to buy these mini gt diecasts?
Where do you get these? there sweet
ebay is probably the most general place but depending on where you are you might find a hobby dealer that sells them.
Can you make a video for Mini GT mirror repair?
This isn't something I really have any experience with. I've never had any problems with the mirrors.
My ONLY complaint or criticism of mini gt is....NO OPENING OF ANYTHING. Doors,trunk,hood.....nothing opens.
@@StingerDiecast Your right. I agree with you. Opening parts could possibly cause gaps and QC problems.
Maybe next time you can also do global 64 cuz they are quite similar
Yep, this series is planned to get two videos for Tarmac Works, one on Hobby64/Road64 and one for Global64. I want to wait for a couple of the new castings though.
So what the most realistic diecast 1/64 scale?
Super premium brands like inno64

Seconded; best brand under $15, smart packaging, but blank bottoms is just lazy. They know what car they made; why not tell customers what they are holding in their hands?
So what's the best brand in your opinion? When I made this video I thought they had stopped labeling completely but then while reviewing the video I realized that when I turned over the C8r it was labeled on the bottom too. So they're just really inconsistent in doing it.
what I love about mini gts and makes me hate hot wheels is the size proportion between the trucks to cars is correct to the point in mini gt but awful in hotwheels most of time
Minigt is awesome but the comparison section really nade me respect hotwheels a lot more and i already loved hotwheels
Why?
I think Mini GT has plastic base not metal i don't think so
