    • @nickopedia5669
      @nickopedia5669 4 года назад +1

      but they do?
      Well maybe you could get away with it if you are just changing out the valves and not repairing anything, but the service manual says to always re-cut the seats so the valves can wear in properly. At the same time, don't even bother with replacing the valves if you're not going to cut the seats, just clean them of deposits and remember which one goes where.
      AND NEVER LAP THEM. they are usually coated on these high performance engines.

    Unless this engine is going to be used for low speed commuting, then the decision to use Loctite to keep the sleeve in place is fatally flawed. The sleeve should have been shrunk into the head, with the head heated to about 450 degrees in an oven , and after cooling the inner face which would have been machined smaller than the diameter of the valve cup, would be machined to clearance size. In that way, the machined sleeve will stay in place even at racing speeds. j

      @Anthony Williams
      this is literally what loctite retaining compound is meant for, and actually much more severe cases as well. it will work without a problem.

      loctite 638 isn't a regular threadlocker.
      It's a permanent retaining compound, and I would trust it far more than a shrink fit on such a thin-wall aluminum piece. A shrink fit is only as strong as the weakest component in it.
