- How to build a crypto mining rig for beginners in 2021. In this step by step tutorial, I show you how to build a 6 x GPU mining rig, how to install windows 10 and how to mine cryptocurrency with QuickMiner from NiceHash. You can also use this rig to mine coins directly e.g. Etheruem which is currently the best coin to mine.
This is a genuine beginner's guide to building a crypto mining rig as it is the first mining rig I have ever built.
I chose to mine with the NiceHash QuickMiner as it automatically mines the most profitable cryptocurrency coin and then pays out in BTC (Bitcoin) which is one of the most stable and reliable cryptocoins.
This GPU mining rig was built using the following parts:
Motherboard
• amzn.to/3zfASug - ASUS Prime Z390-A Socket LGA 1151
CPU, Heatsink & Fan
• amzn.to/36LHh41 - Intel Core i5 8600 3.1GHz 6 Core CPU (with onboard graphics)
Graphics Cards (GPUs)
• tinyurl.com/rtx2060hm - 6 x Nvidia RTX 2060
Wi-Fi Adapter
• amzn.to/3insMcg - TP-Link USB Wi-fi Dongle

• amzn.to/2VYkekt - Ubit PCIE Risers
Power Switch
• amzn.to/3riV0Jf - Unbranded
Power Supply Units (PSUs)
• amzn.to/2VPHzVg - Corsair RM750 Module 80+ GOLD PSU's
Dual PSU Adapter
• amzn.to/3zdLw4x - ADD2PSU adapter to connect both PSU's together
Memory / Ram
• amzn.to/3zgn4jg - 8gb Crucial DDR4 RAM
SSD NVME
• amzn.to/2UoICLu - Crucial P2 500gb M2 NVME SSD

I'm pumped for this mining content! 👍
Agreed
WAtched many videos but this one is the besttttttt, gives information only that is needed and goes straight to the point....
Loved the video man. I've been debating on building one for awhile but not a clue how to start. Now I'm bookmarking this video and ordering parts tomorrow!
Thanks mate, I've just uploaded a video showing how my first 6 weeks went. It is worth a watch before ordering anything ruclips.net/video/61S_RwdU1xk/видео.html
Love how good you explain every detail to newbies
Very nicely done with excellent commentary I'm not a techy but you made it seem plausable even for me!
Thanks you, very helpful detail and so clear, glad to watch your video
Best guide I've seen so far!
thanks so much for a very detail video...helping a newbie like me alot.
best video ever watched. now i know how to built mining rig thanks
Best explanation. Thank you!
Great video, keep up with the awesome work.
Very informative and easy to follow. Thanks 👍
love following along as im starting my mining journey too
Great video well done and Thx!
Great video man. Thank you.
I’d be interested to know the startup costs, ongoing/ running costs, and anticipated/forecast earnings.... maybe a video idea....
Could then be followed up after a month with actual profit for comparison?
I know you left the comment 2 years ago but surely you watched the previous video first? Why else would you be here 😂
Thank you - this was very interesting
Thank you for the content and build. I am about to either buy a pre-made rig but don't really trust the suppliers. So have decided to build one. I want a more powerful rig (RTX 3070's x 8). However what do you think of the rule changes around Ethereum. Thank you
This was very informative thank you 😊...
Great video!
My plan is to build it slowly adding more GPUs as I go so it’s not too much of a big one time purchase 😎
But if you use one gpu and the power consuption is the same as for 6 you have one big problem
Wow you make amazing content keep rocking in about to purchase my first rig and still can’t figure out what I want to go with !!
Hi Thanks for this step by step guide. Amazing job. my question is, do we need to buy the DDR and SSD for the motherboard separately or it comes along with the. Please advise.
Thank you for this fantastic walk through. Just setting mine up now! Do you happen to have a link to the Pcie extension cable? Thank you.
Fantastic content...
I know these videos are from a few months back, but what extension leads did you order? Great content and very informative.
hi...have you overclocked the graphic cards to improve h/W ratio?
Fantastic video pal. Starting my own build. How does the equipment compare with newer stuff?
Hi, great video and thanks for the content! Just wondering where you got your rig from, as I don't see it in the parts list? Thnx in advance :)
Really great video, looking forward to seeing the results. Very tempted to explore building a rig myself, but have never even built a PC, I'd probably end up with £4Ks worth of bent pins and broken components 😜
bloody great build
I've started watching more about and now I've ordered a few GPUs and I'm starting the chase for crypto!! super excited :) Thx
nice! what GPUs did you get and how much were they??
can you help me build mine ?
Hi just wondering what PCIE EXTENSIONS you use please as buying the same set up.. ? Cheers
I may have missed it, but where did you get the chasis for this build?
He covered it in another video. He got it off eBay. But they have comparable options on Amazon. Look for a 12 GPU mining rig that has space for two PSUs. You can space out the GPUs like he did in this video.
Good job!!!!
What is the noise like with a GPU miner? Is it something that can be kept in a sitting room or does it need to be in like a garage or spare room?
Thanks for the great walk through by the way!
Just built a rig all thanks to you sir. Thank you so, so much..:)
Did it work out well?
@@rishehnanwani4870 Yes!
Where did you buy the chassi. Thanks in advance.
Hi Darren, I've managed to source all of the same components to build a similar rig to yours but could you tell me where you got the PCIe extension cables from please? I am very almost at the stage to start mining, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Great content by the way. Very helpful. Cheers
THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR ME WHEN IT WAS HARD. ALL I NEEDED AT THE TIME WAS AN EXCELLENT EXPERT CRYPTO MINER, AND YOU CAME ALONG AND SHOWED ME THAT SOMEONE CAN STILL MAKE MORE THAN EXPECTED ☺️.
YOU ARE AWESOME IN THIS MINING FIELD.
Have you got the link to the rig chasis? Ta
Hi can you use a 12 gb and 6 gb graphics cards together on mining rig. And also do you need to have interent security.
Thanks for the video.Very helpful. Am copying this exact same build. What are your thoughts on using Linux OS on this build.
While looking at the 490 and 450 (slightly newer i think? ) i was researching the product I'm seeing that they are AMD processor ready... will those still support a core i3 or 15?
How can I get hold of the graphics cards? Do I have to use NVidia or could I use different makes as long as there 2060? Nicehash do they accept only Nvidia and AMD? Thanks for the help
❓Can you link the extension cables you are using to power the risers❓🙂
Where did you get the chasis from mate?
Thanks for the video. It really helps alot. Please come to South Africa 🇿🇦 and build rigs 😂. I can't find anyone that builds rigs. So im doing it myself.
Thanks for the content. Could you post a link to the frame and extension cables you had to get too? Essentially a full end to end shopping list? :)
Thanks for th video. Do you have a link to the mining frame?
What's the difference between setting up a rig to mine or using one box. Do you use less electric /heat using a rigg, or is it more quieter, Sorry I don't know all the lingo. I hope you understand what I'm talking about. Rig seems more complicated to put together. Rather than just get one or two boxes and mine from them also when I set up my rig or box, after its developing the currency. What do I need and how would I transfer it to my wallets or does it transfer itself. Of course do I need to transfer it or setup something to transfer it. I do hope that makes sense
Great video please more
How do you do with the gpu’s that require both an 8pin and a 6pin Connection to be Powered? Do i just have to accept that i gotta buy more psu’s?
What other graphic cards are good for the set up ?
thank you sirrrrr
hello mate, fantastic video. Once everything is up and running, would you mind letting us know the rough cost of electricity per month please! thanks a lot
Hey where did you buy that frame from?
Hi, Great video and really good for the newbies to mining. Would it be possible for you to put link as to where you got the rig frame / chassis from? Thanks again
does it matter what motherboard you have for this specific setup? or is it just preference?
do you think the motherboard u used is compatible with rtx3060ti?
Thank you for a great video. Can I ask, are the 2060 GPU's the LHR Low Hash Rate versions?
I don't think they exist or will exist, it switches but after latest all-time high in € and USD even 1660S went away for insane prices at nvidias official german partner store...this is comparable or even a bit worse than my 1070 according to userbenchmark oO I would get right now 220€ for that inno3d 1070 x2 crap, but saw 250€ card used which was made in the previous year compared with mine, the rest was the same crap inno3d and it had this buy for 250€ price, so now with new highs maybe I should try 275€? :X Damn these are cards for gamers, people like me made it possible that the companies and cards still exist....
LHR is for new cards and the 30-series, its an emergency plan to produce 2060, the 2060S is the card benefiting most from the super. ~33.3% RAM and upgrade from 192 to 256-bit, it is really close to the 2070 with same 175W TDP, but it beats the 3060 by 1-2% according to userbenchmark and 1-2 other sources and they cant reproduce a 2060S which is better than their overpriced 3060......damn 1 or 2%... I get really piss.d when I see that miners I hope they lose much money one day, china just finished its policy by making it now illegal to do anything with bitcoins there, in germany it will be taxed soon the income and I hope soon a LHR with 99% reduction comes out (I mean why 50%?! Except there is a technical explanation :X
did you not have to put thermal past directly onto the CPU?
Do you need a monitor? I'm trying to get into this but how do you even collect the money I'm confused
Thank god ur not a sellout like all the other mining channels, w 600 different ads and sponsers and shit
It would be really interesting to see how this rig set up would compare to investing the same amount of money in a Proof of Stake system like Cardarno (ADA)
Nice Job
nice vid
the gpus are different types?
hey man, i have a couple questions about this build if i can by some how?
Nice mining rig, but why a custom Windows install over standard install? Also, will this earn £48 every 3-4 days or would the time vary?
Did u leave it wifi and continue to remote desktop to it?
Do you have to take any additional steps to ground the rig since it's sitting on the carpet? Concern for static buildup?
My sentiments exactly.
Awesome video, I built exactly what you laid out yet I can only get 4 of my 6 GPUs to work. I have read other forums, made adjustments to the BIOS, confirmed that all cards and risers are good and I am stumped. Any advice on how you got all 6 working?
Did you ever figure this out? What was issue?
Cheers Darren
Is this graphic card good for the rig?
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 GAMING OC 12GB V2 LHR Graphics Card
Thanks
23:30 what's wrong with classic OFFLINE account? why not to show them to use it?
Okay, so I've got my list together and ordering parts ... Going with your list for the most part because you did a great job in my opinion.
Things I'm doing differently ...
Wire rack instead of the rack you used.
Dual fan heatsink for the CPU
I may start out with Windoze but I'm a diehard Linux guy!!! LOL
MineOS looks good but HiveOS is where I'm leaning just need some more research.
Will start out with one GPU Miner to start and add to the rig.
Concerned about the ETH 2.0 mess so hoping either MinerOS or HiveOSs pool will flip coin based on worth.
If the rig proves itself I'll scale up. If not, well ... I'll have one hell of a game system. LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
Any update?
Might be worth mentioning that capital gains tax may also be payable on selling the bitcoin (after personal allowence reached) which also dilutes profit
My motherboard and windows are recognizing my GPUs but Nicehash isn't, can you make a video for troubleshooting please
Excellent 🙏🙏🙏
Think you have me mistaken, my comment was regarding your vlog , still standby it Excellent thank you ,
wouldent mining on linux be much better?
Can you provide link to the rig frame please?
It Sounds like windows sucks because of updates and having to manually over clock. Thoughts??
Lovely video about building a PC basically. It lacks detailed figures on cost and ROI which makes it little use if you want to build a mining rig.
Hello mate just want know if you have a link for i3 cpu as i5 are quite high in price
buy i5 from ebay cheap
10 quid a day, would take over a year to pay off the rig, plus maintenance and electricity. Is it really profitable?
Great content! Maybe get a helium miner and could compare the profitability.
If I could get one I definitely would 👍
I’ve completely copied your build, it all powers on fine even the switches work. However I’m not getting any signal to my monitor, the only thing I didn’t copy is the motherboard brass pin risers I just slotted it straight into the case. Have you got any advice on how I can get this working.
have you fixed this yet? if not, try only using one gpu at first and then plugging in your monitor to it. Once you have that working, plug in the rest of your gpus :)
I have same issue with no signal to monitor, but with a different Asus Board. Kalam, have you figured out why? Mine got the green 'boot' LED light on , on the motherboard. Been playing around with the SSD card as suggested by asus trouble shooting, but no difference
you're supposed to boot with 2 gpus connected and enable above 4g in bios then install windows and stuff then install the drivers for the gpus, even for the ones that are disconnected, then turn off your rig and then connect your gpus. if this doesnt work try looking up more fixes. issue might be because u didnt boot with 2 gpus and more than 4 gpus aren't supported unless u enable above 4g in your bios.
Make more videos teaching us how and explain profits
Very detailed videos man, great work. Gained a sub from me 👍. Can you recommend any decent resources to learn about crypto currency mining? RUclipsrs, blogs etc? Very new to it and would love to get into it myself.
It's August. Is this still worth starting right now?
Might be a good idea to invest in a static wristband to avoid electrical damage to any components. (Grounding wristband)
Thanks very much for this video, it really helped demonstrate how someone with minimal knowledge of hardware like me could create a rig and start mining. I do have one question I am keen to know the answer to though. In the video you had one graphics card connected because you were waiting on cables, when you said after 4-5 days you had earned £48 was that from the one graphics card or had you hooked the other cards up by then? If the latter £48 does not seem that good because at approx £10/day (£300/month) it would take over a year to recoup your £4k setup costs and that does not take into consideration the electricity costs. So I am hoping £48 is from the one card! :D Or have I misunderstood or miscalculated something
I'm building a rig with an RTX3090. Will an i3 processor be enough? (Thanks for this channel)
even a Pentium gold would be enough
20:26 you are assuming they are already on M$...
It look so technical. I mean what could possibly go wrong
How'd you get those video cards lol
Hi
How much do you expect/ hope to earn each day with this rig?
Cheers
Check out 30:29 using nicehash it generates approx Euro9.43 or BTC 0.00036 every 24 hours. ofc profitability will depend on price of BTC and cost of electricity in your area.
@@neildoerdan2298 thanks
Based on current GPU prices and the stats of those Vid cards, looks like it will take almost 1-2 years to break even on cost? Maybe I'm missing something, but that seems insane.
