Hi, you inspired me to began sewing and to sell...I began sewing, but not selling, but I'm so glad I did..sewing is one of my faves things to do to keep stirring my creative juices!!!❤❤❤ Keep going strong!!!
Tip for the lettuce look you get. It always happens when you sew anything knit. Take your project to the iron and iron it back with steam. Steam it a little with the iron and press on it. DONT RUB. It will relax the knit fibers back into its original place. And use a stretch stitch. It’s very different than a regular zig zag stitch and makes a world of difference! Tip for a serger. Always Thread it right to left. If you thread it randomly it won’t sew right. Start at the farthest right side and work your way down to the needle threads. And there’s also a way to tie in new threads so you don’t full have to thread it each time. If you tie in again always start on the right and tie in one by one. Maybe use test scraps and sew until the thread changes. And ALWAYS make sure it’s dusted out because it makes a HUGE difference
Some tips for the headbands and the overlocked: 1. You definitely need jersey/stretch/super stretch needles for jersey/knit fabrics. Universal needles are too sharp and damage the knit structure and can leave your fabric with holes over time. 2. When you cut the threads you should leave a longer tail and knot it or weave it into the seam from the overlocker. Because you're not able to backstitch it's likely to unravel quicker if you cut it too short. So exiting to see you testing different products! Greetings from Germany ☺️
Get a second hand industrial overlock. If you get a 5-thread industrial overlock, you can have it converted to a 6-thread which will allow you to use it as a 3-thread, 4-thread, and 5-thread. The 3-thread is used to overlock edges and if you adjust the differential and width of the stitches you can have a merrow stitch. 4-threads let you sew knits and 5-threads is great for wovens because you have a chain stitch and overlock which is great for bottoms. You can also not thread the loopers and just use 2 threads that create the chain stitch and sew a chain stitch which allows you to create a strong straight stitch on any fabric. It will also give you a strong stitch for knits. Btw try not to pull the knit fabric when sewing it. That will help reduce wavy davy. And I would ditch that domestic overlock machine. They just don’t compare. Excellent vintage brands Willcox & Gibbs, Alder, Rimoldi, Union Special, etc.
I watch your videos all the time. I actually look forward to them! You're down to earth view on your business and helpful hints help me troubleshoot similar setbacks to my business. You are an inspiration to many of your viewers. WE LOVE YOU!! 33:44
Hi Taylah, I’m glad you’re having a great time in Japan. Loved the video. I just turned 50 and am too scared to go off the pill because of probable break outs! Peppermint essential oil dabbed on (undiluted) works very well on blind pimples, just don’t accidentally scratch your eye with the same finger after doing it lol 😂 The home loan application sounds pretty stressful, I bet you’re glad to have that all approved and behind you so you can really just relax and have fun while on holiday. Btw I watched the video with my new purple headband you made. I have no heating at home (joys of renting) and your headband has helped keep my head warm. Take care x
When watching a sewing show on TV, the lady was stitching on stretchy fabric. She mentioned that she liked to use a zig zag stitch that did three little stitches one way and then three the other. She called it the “elastic stitch”. Just fyi in case that might help you.
Don’t worry about your style for your house. Every time I purchase a different home, I only purchase what I absolutely need. I tend to live in the home for a couple months and then decide what I have that will work in the new home and donate what doesn’t. I then slowly buy pieces that fit my latest home.
You have to start with colors when it comes to your house. OR specific, special "Pieces" So.. a couch or chair or wall painting that makes you super inspired/excited or that you just love. From there you take the colors and run. Keep your wall colors lighter(You don't strike me as a dark, moodie Victorian era type lol) I usually go with a light neutral wall color and from there you pepper in your color using furniture, accent pieces and decor. The main take away is start with 1 piece or a color palette. Get your wall color in place. From there, go with curtains and then move in to furniture. However, since you will be working with second hand items; start with your pieces. So find a good solid couch or any other large furniture staple for a room and then go with colors. If you can get the cornerstone of the room down, the rest will fall in to place
Your overlock machine is much quieter than mine! I once accidentally pulled a thread and left my machine almost a year as I hated rethreading the thing😂. I enjoyed watching the trials and tribulations of your new overlock and perfecting the headband. Your persistence is amazing❤.
I have made headbands for myself for years. I prefer to use my sewing machine with a stretch stitch (my serger wasn't set out unless being used before). I have my serger out always now (took 20 years to get around to that!) and will try it next time I make some. I sew a tube, turn and then stitch the ends together. I cut my fabric 5" x 19" (I have a 23" head!). I use old tshirts, so there isn't as much stretch. What you were using is called ribbing and used mainly for cuffs, waistbands, etc in athletic wear. It will make fantastic headbands! Plenty of stretch.
You can apply Sudocrem to the red ones and then just sleep with it on skin. Wash your face in the morning, keep putting it on till they heal. Sudocrem has Zinc and that dries out the pimple. It's also good for other skin issues too. But only use a thin layer and don't get it near animals.
Hi I been actually watching your youtube, and you inspired me a lot. I actually know how to sew, but just don't how to start small business, or what to make if that make for small business, if it make sense. I am in my 50's but I enjoy making scrunchies, because I enjoy watching you. Thank you for sharing. God bless and more power
The headbands look great. I've had a serger for years never got it working perfect. I'm watching all the ads hope it helps you out. And I always watch the entire video.
Next time you change the thread on the over locker just tie the new thread to the old thread and pull it through. I had been tempted to throw mine out the window many times before I figured out that over locker hack.
Glad you braved the Serger !!! 😅. And expect it seemed strange going back to your slow original sewing machines. As always a pleasure to see the video land ❤
Taylah, the headbands you’ve made are wonderful. Please don’t doubt or second guess yourself, you are a wonderful young woman and your products are all amazing. I love catching up on your vlog and watching your youtube channel. You, young lady are an inspiration, and I have no doubt you will get to grips with your overlocker, Don’t give up! Thank you for sharing 😊🇬🇧
Once you start threading your serger/overlocker you’ll become a pro! I used to DREAD changing the thread on mine but now I do it easy Peasy. I just got a coverstitch and surprisingly it’s easier to thread than a serger/overlocker! Also the threads go under the feet! Try watching a video as you thread. Oh also you might need to change your needles to stretch needles to help with skipped stitches. P.S for the waviness on the fabric try putting your differential on the highest setting.
Hi dear Taylah🌺 when you sew the headband’s use thread 🧵 for stretching fabric on the bobbin❤ Beautiful girl you are amazing🙌 GOD bless you today and always🙌🙏
Glad to see you back home safe. Make sure to take lots of vitamin C, to help combat any flu bug, from coming back from over there. And just wear your products around town. Dont be shy. Just another way to promte your business. And hope things go well, when getting a home loan. Keep up the great work.
Hi, i really like your headbands! And thanks for sharing the process, very interesting to be a part of it. One note: idk if you do some pre-wash or ironing of the fabric before cutting. Its a crucial step for all kind of knits as they can shrink a lot after 1st wash..
110% castor oil. Put on cotton Bud our little dabs on the problem ones repeat until gone 🥰 you can also use the castor oil on your belly button to help alleviate pcos symptoms
A tip to increase viewership, possibly try focused “tips” videos for the viewers on a time crunch… topics: sewing, various machines, various scrunchie products, setting up for market, selecting markets, real and honest small business tips, a few “in my sewing room” videos.😄😎 Keep the longer videos in, as well for those of us who enjoy it!
Hi Taylah, I would suggest going to see a naturopath for your pcos. Please don't let your GP put you on the pill to treat it - this will just mask the issue and then when you come off it will still be there and will likely be worse. If you've been through a stressful period, this as well will help explain why things have blown up a bit skin wise. I hope you can get it all settled down. xo
Hi Taylah! A friend of mine, her son had acne really bad. We noticed he’s acne was gone. The reason the salt from the ocean. He went swimming and noticed acne was clearing out really fast. ❤ Try sea salt, use any natural soap, that your skin will accept and make soapy sea salt water. BTW thank you so much for your videos. Love them all 😊
I’m inspired by your ability to work a problem out. I love the stretch head bands I have to keep my ears warm in the winter or I get migraines. I’m hoping you continue to make them. Keep up the great job. I also have a Singer Overlock machine seems like the tension will drive you crazy. Have fun with it. ❤
I think the wider head bands are brilliant because they are also warming for the ears 🐰 Queensland and NT viewers wouldn't think of that haha But for the rest of us, it's nice having warm ears in winter 😍🥰 And, yes, you are Eclectic :)
also, chicky, PCOS will put you in a slump badly if you let it 😉 both our daughters have PCOS and Endo and both have just had babies this year 🥰 It's just a constant work in progress and the joys of being a young woman 😂🤣
FYI coming from ski country here in USA, I think the bands could take off. My head does not lend itself to bands or hats unfortunately......but so many have beautifully shaped noggins that I could see them wearing them in the winter......
Tails go under the presser foot. I just bought a serger as well and there for sure is a learning curve. Unfortunately, part of my learning curve was that mine was defective right out of the box. Received a refund and back to the drawing board of looking for a new one. Lots of good utube videos regarding problem solving and tension issues
ive followed you since you started on youtube and have watched all tyour videos. I look forward to my evening where i can put your video on and sew at the same time. I'm so pleased you'll be doing more videos, i love your honesty and that you keep it real! alss, love the new headbands, i think they'll be a huge success.
Also I have the same serger, I rarelyyyy lift the foot because I always forget to put it down! I only push up the front of it with my finger if I need to.
I haven’t watched to the end yet, so maybe this has already been commented on. If you did the burrito message with the headband, then you would only have to hand stitch a small section on the inside of the band, and it would probably appear neater on the outer seam. I hope that makes sense.
I experienced the same thing. I studied in rural Victoria for a year. I wore my everyday clothes and people tend to stare and I had my prof ask me if I had something special going on. I was so embarrassed I started wearing dull colours and really wiped out my style. After I finished my studies I noped outta there so fast haha I don't know how y'all do it.
I gave up on making headbands using knits as a matter of fact i gave up on stretchy fabrics. I hate them with a passion. I started sewing in March, i moved from scrunchies to making bags. I love them. My only complaint is the country where i live and he fabrics stores where i live dont have a great selection of fabric. I soon want to be able to sell my products online. I hope so.
You probably know this by now but it’s such a crazy coincidence 😮😊 that your doing these headbands when XL scrunchies is coming out with a line too 😊 and they’re pretty major? You’re so trendsetting 😊
Hey Taylor..hope Japan is going good.. now just my 2cents on the head bands..I don't like the way the tag sticks out..Sorry 😔 can it be sewn down flat on the band ? love the colours..I like the thicker for winter
I was on a pill for acne called lymecycline. I was on it for 2 years when I was told I needed tests as it causes kidney failure so I came off of it. 2 years later I went back into it for about 5 years when a paramedic said to me it’s a antibiotic so should only be short term (this is why I kept getting infections and no antibiotics would work, as I have become immune to them!) I also had to have test as it caused infertility when on it for a long period, and yes I can no longer have kids, but I don’t mind as I don’t want them anyways. But there’s lots of side effects still being found as I was on it as a new drug and they just didn’t knit the side effects so I’m always being test even tho i haven’t taken it for 2 years, but the side effects still show even now. So I would avoid this medication at all costs!!! A medication that worked wonders on my skin was the pill it’s a great medication to stop/ reduce acne and helps with periods and other lady problems 😊
Hello! I have started making scrunchies. If I may ask can you do a video on how you fold your fabric before you start cutting the fabric for your scrunchies. It takes me forever and it seems the way you fold it you can cut out a lot more than I do so much faster. If you could do a tutorial on that it would be so helpful. Thank you!
Watching From HongKong.. been watching & reading your story Your amazing & inspiring young Aussie.. may i know what are name of the cutter you used. You cut and prepared very fast
Some overlockers like to be thread in a specific order it’s a nightmare. Also if you pull the thread back in front and sew over the thread the cutter will cut the thread for you. Practice, practice practice. My overlocker just stares at me now, mocking me so I just refuse to dust it.. ha so we are equal now. Overlocker-0 me-0 🤣
The more earnings points the safer you are, so it is smart to diversify your income. Maybe since you have a website now you could collect emails and make a list that you could use to email regarding yt videos, helpful information, a little about yourself, sell your products, or 3rd party products
When stitching on a regular machine, use a three-step zig-zag called a”stretch” stitch to help reduce the rumpled seams. On an overlocker, test drive your differential feed to accommodate the ribbed stretch material. 😊. For PCOS, check out MariaEmmerich’s keto videos. She overcame it with food changes. Best wishes! 🙏💕
Hi, I'm sewing and listening to your video as I go. I'm looking to store my fabric in the billy book shelves. I only tend to save a max of 3m at a time. Which depth have you got? The 28cm or the 40cm? Thank you 😊
i was just looking at your website and was wondering, because i'm new to your channel and haven't heard you say...where do you source your printed labels? i make upcycled clothing and wearable art and want to attach my own tags. i like that yours are a pretty natural colored cotton. it looks like twill tape?
I heard a trick (that I’ve tried and tested, it definitely worked for me) that if you don’t post anything at all to your stories for 24h and then the first story is an engagement story (polls, questions etc) then you get more views. I’ve tried this 3 times. I usually get 40 viewers but each time I done this trick, I get over 200. So it could work well for you!
Very hard to get a mortgage hete if you're self employed cos it's not reliable income. I think everyone is having trouble selling. Customers are really struggling with rent and food costs.
I to had acne as a kid an in my 20 /30. Then my daughter had it also. Antibiotics cleared her up for good. Acne is an infection. Give it a try if you can talk to your dermatologist
PCOS is caused by years of excessive sugar and carbohydrates in your diet. I went keto 3 years ago after chemo (I had cancer) Huge game changer, life changing for me! I reversed mental health issues, pre diabetes, high blood pressure, countless health problems…eczema started to improve so I turned the carb knob down even further to carnivore and eczema completely disappeared!! Your acne will disappear because your hormones will balance. I wish I would have found this way of eating when I was in my 30’s! Please try it for 90 days as a trial. You will not hear about this from a traditional doctor, they treat disease with medication not cure problems with diet. Food is my medicine. Believe me, I do not feel deprived in any way. Search RUclips, there is an entire community for support and lifestyle! I’ll never go back to eating sugar and carbs again because I feel that good and I feel I can conquer anything!! Take care! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi, you inspired me to began sewing and to sell...I began sewing, but not selling, but I'm so glad I did..sewing is one of my faves things to do to keep stirring my creative juices!!!❤❤❤ Keep going strong!!!
Same. I now sew many things and sell in different shops 😊

Take care x

Keep it going Taylah. You’re right that people do not disclose everything. Your honesty is important
So glad to see you back! Be safe in japan, have fun but most of all DONT GET SICK!!
Thanks so much! I’m trying so hard not to but I pick up everythingggg 🙃 only a matter of time 😅😭💓
Hello. Love your videos! Little suggestion, you can use the ladder stitch to sew the gap at the end, it is an invisible stitch.

Prayers for your health...I love watching you create.
I follow Loanfox. He also recently bought a house and decorated it. Very impressive. Anyway, you’re doing well. Very inspirational. Keep it going 🙏🏼
That machine looks so cool! Pretty confusing though 😂
I was wondering what fabric glue you use that bonds so fast. Thank you in advance. By the way, you are my favorite RUclipsr.
Number 5 stitch is the one to try for stretch. You might figure this out by the time I get further in the video haha
Also I have the same serger, I rarelyyyy lift the foot because I always forget to put it down! I only push up the front of it with my finger if I need to.
I love that you are honest ❤
You bought fabric that is for making cuffs, that’s why it so super stretchy and the width so small ☺️
I haven’t watched to the end yet, so maybe this has already been commented on. If you did the burrito message with the headband, then you would only have to hand stitch a small section on the inside of the band, and it would probably appear neater on the outer seam. I hope that makes sense.
I wouldn’t put the label that way, it sticks out too much. Sew it on flat on the fabric. Also make neck warmers.
You can get needles for stretch fabric
Taylah you need to use stretch thread and a stretch thread needle.
I gave up on making headbands using knits as a matter of fact i gave up on stretchy fabrics. I hate them with a passion. I started sewing in March, i moved from scrunchies to making bags. Videos on sewing clothes get a lot of views. And sewing bags! You could even sell the bags you sew on the video.
Hey! Hope you're having an amazing time in Japan! ❤ My daughters father is actually stationed there

Good Morning! I was looking for something to watch and BOOM :D
Hope you enjoy it! 😊🥰
My brother had terrible acne in his teens. Brewers yeast helped him a lot.
Thank you!
I use Paula’s choice face wash. It works wonders and isn’t super expensive.
Watching From HongKong.. been watching & reading your story Your amazing & inspiring young Aussie.. may i know what are name of the cutter you used. You cut and prepared very fast
How did u learn to operate an overlock machine? I mean, the proper way of putting correctly all those threads inside the machine?😮
Yay thank you ! I was getting frantic waiting for a new video.
Overlocker-0 me-0 🤣
They look great! My overlocker/serger seems to be picky if I go too fast 😢
Great videos
Buy what you like eclectic is great it’s how I buy stuff
You will love it 😍
The more earnings points the safer you are, so it is smart to diversify your income.
Calming and so aesthetic keep going❤
I’m loving the chatty videos! ❤
Hi, I'm sewing and listening to your video as I go. I'm looking to store my fabric in the billy book shelves. I only tend to save a max of 3m at a time. Which depth have you got? The 28cm or the 40cm? Thank you 😊
Hi Taylah. What kind of market is better to offer the scrunchies? Do you have an assessor in that matter? Big hug from Wisconsin.
Taylah can you share how you budget to pay the craft show/market fees. Getting started it's hard to come up with the money for the vendor fees.
i was just looking at your website and was wondering, because i'm new to your channel and haven't heard you say...where do you source your printed labels? i make upcycled clothing and wearable art and want to attach my own tags. i like that yours are a pretty natural colored cotton. it looks like twill tape?
I heard a trick (that I’ve tried and tested, it definitely worked for me) that if you don’t post anything at all to your stories for 24h and then the first story is an engagement story (polls, questions etc) then you get more views. I’ve tried this 3 times. I usually get 40 viewers but each time I done this trick, I get over 200. So it could work well for you!
The economical situation at the moment is not to crash hot so they are not buying lots at the moment.
I would zig zag stitch the ends as that will let it go with the stretch.
Meant to say the stretch stitch is preferable.
Hey Babe you look great no matter what. I had it and they put me on prednisone and that got rid of it. 😊
I have Pcos too, when I have an acne flare up I use the niacinamide serum from the ordinary brand! Works wonders.
Hi I would love to see your hair up in two scrunch! Wont happen when your 68, well no one would let me out of the house😅
Very hard to get a mortgage hete if you're self employed cos it's not reliable income. I think everyone is having trouble selling. Customers are really struggling with rent and food costs.
Yayy new video🥰
Hope you enjoy it! 😃🥰

Take care! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! I will have to try 💓
Thanks!
We can be your Tea Roses 🌹💐
Have you watched RUclips r Katwise? Next server will be self threading
I had no idea they make self threading Sergers 🎉
Your subs could be your ‘rosettes’?
Try using a zig zag stitch
