ABC - Disney company, should of made another channel call it - ABC Teen ( have all the drama and shows they have on FreeForm ) / kept the ABC family how it was in early 2000’s or so. “ also have other classic shows on ABC family like Happy days , Brady Bunch and some other classics / Also family comedy, family movies “
+miles Yeah, something you don't see on family sitcoms today. i think the reason those cast members intros were made, was to show the viewer how open and friendly or family friendly they were to the viewer. or to make them feel welcomed.
A great show. It wasnt just a "Black Show" as ppl r commenting. Lots of white ppl from working class families like myself really related to the Winslow family. Good stuff
@@adammakarzyk3274 Yeah in the later seasons the show went far out of reality with the shrinking machine and the steve to stefan etc, I still loved it, but the earlier seasons r what im referring too
I come from a mixed race family and the Filipinos and the Whites both found this show hilarious. This is one of those gem sitcoms that was able to transcend and reach all kinds of audiences while also staying pretty true to the Black community
I’m super blessed I was born in 1990 so I got just the right amount of taste of the simpler times. Something about this intro song gives me such comforting vibes from that time. When the most controversial thing on TV was The Simpsons.
That's the perfect word to describe it. Just watching the opening brought back sweet memories of Friday nights that I spent watching the TGIF lineup with my grandma. Wooden acting and contrived storylines notwithstanding, TGIF was a good and comforting thing.
There was nothing like coming home after a long school week and getting ready for TGIF. Always enjoyed the shows and then waking up early on Saturdays for cartoons
Here's how your weekend will be: Thursday on NBC: Cheers, The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Night Court, The Golden Girls Friday on ABC: Family Matters, Full House, Step by Step, Boy Meets World Saturday morning cartoons Sunday night football
well, I'm a 33 years old man from Spain, and I was about to cry. Maybe I'm too emotional, but this sitcom made a huge part of my childhood. Funny fact: in Spain we call it ''COSAS DE CASA'' (literally ''things/stuff/events happening from a house/home). Now I'm a professional musician and I've never realized how good was this intro song (wonderfuly played, singed and orchestrated)
I'm 43 and grew up in Philly. I remember watching those over my grandmoms on Friday evenings. I never looked at this as a black show or anything. To this day, I adore the show and everything about it. Helped shape me to who I grew up to be, accepting of people
I really wish I was a teen in the early 90s. Being a teenager in this era is almost unbearable. Things in the 90s were so simple and the TV shows never disappointed. Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Full House... All great stuff.
I always like the relationship that the Winslows' had with eurkel, yea he was somewhat of an annoying neighbor, and the Winslows' would always give him a hard time, but at the same time there was always a deeply rooted caring for one another amongst them.
Yeah, I think their relationship is the very definition of love and hate. They know he's very annoying, but they still care about him nonetheless and he pretty much became a part of their lives
This show means so much to so many people and for good reason ❤️. A show that loved, upheld, and supported the image and bonds of *family*. One of the last TV shows to ever do that unfortunately.
Brings back so many memories, every Friday at 8pm I use to get my chips n and soda ready to watch TGIF ... with full house first then Family matters.. man I miss the 90s, I give anything to relive those memories again
It was so nice to have an honest to goodness good show that wasn't all about "how oppressed we are." It actually told a good and wholesome (and funny) family story.
I had no idea that this intro was this long. I've only seen the amended intro on broadcast all of the years I have watched this show. Thanks for posting!
+Hamzah Elsulayman My parents said the same comments when we used to watch this show together as a family on TGIF.they both couldn't understand why steve was still interested in laura when his girlfriend was clearly so better looking than laura.
+Logan Himes I miss her so much, she was taken away too soon. so young and beautiful , i didn't find out about her passing long after she prematurely departed from this earth.
Probably one of the best shows I've ever watched. I wish it woulda got that 10th season it was originally confirmed to get. (Look up archives, they were going to give it a final 10th season but it didn't happen!)
TGIF was one of the best things of my childhood, Friday nights when me my mom and dad and my big brother would watch TGIF together was heaven. Those were the sweetest days.
I have always loved the theme song of this show. And how I love it how this clip ends with Steve and Laura kissing. Steve may be one crazy, funny nerd, but he and Laura were meant to be. I was so happy on the final episode when she agreed to marry him instead of Stephan (even though I love Stephan)
It's not long till they took it off Hulu last year ....a month or so before Thanksgiving...i grew up watching the show to but I was really hurt when they took it off Hulu because I didn't have a family...this WAS MY FAMILY...when I was most low ...id watch the Winslow family and Steve who was SO RELATABLE ....and I'd feel something I've never had IN THE 24 YEARS OF LIFE IVE LIVED ....I felt home...❤❤😭😭 thank you Winslows family DOES MATTER!!
Agree, old TV shows are better. Why won't they put Family Matters? I use to like watching that show when I was a kid, still do. It's a shame that there's not anymore good TV shows. :P
im soo glad they are playing the reruns on nick at nite now. this show was awesome. If they were to make new episodes with different actors, it wouldnt be the same.
The amount of seasons definitely tells you how good a show is. The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Real Housewives of (Insert city), One Tree Hill, Hannah Montana, etc, were on more than 1 or 2 seasons. All of them.
This show is just amazing! I remeber watching every night as a kid! Nothing today can truly beat the pleasure you get in watching great shows like this! Todays shows are about sex, greed, and filth!
In case anyone cares, Season 2 IS released, just not on DVD for some reason. I bought the entire season on Amazon. It's also on itunes but those episodes are syndicated so DO NOT buy off itunes if you want to see them fully uncut. I hope more people know about this because I want the other 7 seasons!
That opening piano note brings so many memories, and such a nostalgic feeling to my heart, it's unbelievable. God, I miss my childhood...
This version of the theme song was only played throughout the first season
Family Matters was on Nick at Nite 😭😭😭
ABC - Disney company, should of made another channel call it - ABC Teen ( have all the drama and shows they have on FreeForm ) / kept the ABC family how it was in early 2000’s or so. “ also have other classic shows on ABC family like Happy days , Brady Bunch and some other classics / Also family comedy, family movies “
i love how all these old sitcoms use the same format of doing some random activity and then just smiling at the camera
Hahaha it's weird right
yup classics
+miles Yeah, something you don't see on family sitcoms today. i think the reason those cast members intros were made, was to show the viewer how open and friendly or family friendly they were to the viewer. or to make them feel welcomed.
Have you seen Too Many Cooks?
Modern Family kinda does that.
Every time I watch this I feel like I'm coming home. This was such a great show. We need more shows like this.
same
Brings me back to childhood also makes me sad
In Spain this show was very popular indeed. I loved it as a kid and listening to the intro again so many years later makes me happy!
A great show. It wasnt just a "Black Show" as ppl r commenting. Lots of white ppl from working class families like myself really related to the Winslow family. Good stuff
I never had my neighbor make a robot, but yeah, I get ya it's what the title says. Family matters
I'm from Spain, got this aired on TV since I was... 6? Awesome show. I will always remember it.

-_- she is not dead....smh
Rjkooljay2 yes she is, are you high or just delusional?
high...apparently

I’m super blessed I was born in 1990 so I got just the right amount of taste of the simpler times. Something about this intro song gives me such comforting vibes from that time. When the most controversial thing on TV was The Simpsons.
Carl Winslow looks like the father on Fresh Prince.
This was always the coziest sitcom.

The late 80s-90s had some of the best black sitcoms.
Forget BLACK sitcoms. Family Matters was one of the best sitcoms ever!!

One of the greatest shows in the history of TV, thank god Nick still shows even if its late at night
Family Matters is the Michael Jackson of sitcoms.

***** They're both dead, obviously.
***** He's dead, Jim.
*groan* ~_~
e~e Well-made, entertaining, memorable, and full of not-suck.
Man, this reminded me how WEIRD Family Matters got at the end.
Yeah... they jumped the shark... a few times.

Weird thing to remember that this was actually a spin-off of Perfect Strangers. Who even remembers that show now, aside from the intro song?

Rip Michelle Thomas 😍😩
Cherish G wow I never knew she died so young
Cherish G c'est déjà mort

Joshua Bailey désolé je. Ne. Parle anglais mais desole
Joshua Bailey I liked her character because out of everybody, she liked Steve for Steve. I was shocked when I heard the news. May she Rest In Peace,
thank you so much for posting this. i can't explain how many childhood memories you just brought back to me.
I remember when the show came on Nick and Nite. I used to watch it all the time as a kid!
On a nostalgic binge since we lost #BobSaget!!! Revisting my childhood tv show themes
God I miss the 90s, coming home from school and watching the Xmen cartoons and waiting for T.G.I.F!
0:27 I gotta admit, that made me laugh 😂 it came out of nowhere & they should’ve edited it out but here we are

Life will never be the same
Steve Urkel's car is a post WW2 german BMW Isetta, they were made for ultra low fuel consumtion cos Germany was very short on ressorces after the WW2

I say Big Bang is better, mainly because it's doesn't stereotype as horrible as Urkel.

+LifeIsNotorious most black sitcoms tend to deal with problem that African american's have
And family matters deal with problems that an average person would have
issac flores Family matters dealt with racism too, if that's what you're talking about. Other than that, I wouldn't know what you're talking about.
LifeIsNotorious well i really don't watch family matters alot anymore
