Im running an me80 had it for about 6 years...coincidentally i just bought an amped 1 too. (Fed up of lifting marshalls everywhere) its great ..What Arcutec simulations/Settings do you use for DI out front. I havent done this yet. Cheerz
Thanks for making this video! So I played a gig this past weekend with my ME-80. I had what I thought was a perfect tone dialed in at home, but at the gig it sounded thin and brittle. I use the 1/8” plug in the headphone out, and run the “drive” amp with a little tube screamer or super OD, and just a little hall reverb. Into a DI box and XLR straight to FOH. That’s it. But something isn’t right. We do classic rock and I’m not going for an overly saturated tone, but it sounded like trash at the show - at least through my IEM mix. I’m wondering if I need some better quality ear buds. Anyway, thanks again for the video. At least I know it’s possible to get a good live tone with this rig. I guess I just have to keep digging through the weeds to find it. 😂
Thanks I appreciate it. It was a learning curve for me at first but I knew I needed to spend extra time at home to play around with everything and configure my sound in a setting that I knew it was gonna be the same once I got to the gig.
Cool video, enjoyed your perspective so, thanks for this. Something I realized when I recently attended a show that bands had no amps onstage was... it looked weird, like something was missing that added to the element of a live band playing. it took me a few minutes to realize the amps weren't there though... just drums. I didn't like it, and strangely... felt shorted. which surprised me, about myself, and have since decided to not go to shows where bands don't play through actual old school gear, as it is part of the band element (to me) I speak here as a fan of live shows, and not as a roadie that hauls the gear. yes, good sound is important but, I'm a fan of seeing what amps the band is using, and feel it adds/shows a part of their personality and choice of sound creation. this seems to be a trend of bands now (Sadley) not meaning to complain or slag, although it translates that way, just feedback..
Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate that. I love playing out of amps myself. If I had the stamina and the energy I'd probably still bring traditional amps or I could hire someone to do it and set it up for me. The other part of the reality for me and the band I'm playing in is sometimes we'll do venues that are small bars and the space is tight. No stage. Just a corner to set up in. We bring our own PA but if we had amps there, there would be no room for us to stand in. Also it's easier and faster to do a line check vs. a full blown sound check with amps.
@@John-vk4gs Thanks man. It’s just a standard linear chain. Guitar to tuner to drop pedal to gain pedals to time based and modulation to amp and then amp to PA.
Yup. I just found you. I know this is an older video. I'm even older. I started in the late 70s playing and playing out in the 80s. I just play for fun now, but do go to jams and places where you can get up and play with the band, etc. I'm trying to find a solution and did a search on ampless pedal boards and you came up. I totally agree man, the audience wants to hear music and they don't care if you play thru a straw if it sounds correct. 😂 Be well brother. Regards from South Central Indiana. USA.. ❤ Tim..
Got the ME-80 five years ago. Did many gigs, many jams. Still to this day amazed at it's capabilities. However, I believe only higher competence guitarists are better able to use it as it's not a beginner "plug and play" processor. It's for professionals who know what they are doing and have good guitars and amps ect to support this system.
@@tommywattmusic Boss has the ME-70 or ME-50 but not as many features. If you want to go really small with a Boss platform there’s the G1 which has good tones but not as versatile in terms of features.
I used to have the ME-80. I really loved it! Such a great device.

Great vid! Thanks for that, looking for an ampless setup. Could I have your signal chain please ? Where does the ME80 fit in ?

@@RickordProductions thanks, so by amp you mean the ME80. That’s last in the chain ? I’ll pick one up. Sounds great !
@@John-vk4gs no I was running the ME-80 to the Blackstar Amped 1 which is the actual amp.

Does Boss make something smaller than the me-80? I want a smaller footprint.
