    Pacific Ocean Park. We called it simply POP. Kids could go have fun be dropped off and picked up in one piece. Gone are the days.

    haha, i love the dancing. Its really a cool thing to be able to watch videos from the 60s and 70s and stuff. It really kinda humbles me to see how the progression of time has changed. When i grow up, i want to make a cover of this song in her version. Its really an amazing video and song

    Thanks for this, orndue. Loved this song in "Oliver!" but this upbeat version was terrific, and the orchestra arrangement, superb. Lionel Bart wrote some great tunes, didn't he? Nancy's voice got a terrible review in a biography of John Barry I read (she sang _You Only Live Twice_ for him) but, to my ear, she sounds pretty good here.

    The male lead dancer with the blonde hair and red pants is David Winters who was a very prominent choreographer for movies and TV and also played one of the Jets in the movie "West Side Story."

      the other dancer on the left looks like Andy Beu who was also in WSS and A chorus line. i could be wrong though. it does look like him. Do we know who choreoographed this at all?

      Yeah, he's good, but I prefer Juul Haalmeyer. Enter that into RUclips search and prepare to be amazed.

    @auclan POPs last harrah was the TV show The Fugitive final episodes filmed there in 1967. Too bad they never got a buyer, I would have liked to go there especially with Nancy!

    It must be a small world. I only tuned in to see Dawn Michaels, formerly a Gazzarri Dancer from the 'Hollywood A Go-Go tv show.' She is the 2nd from the right at 2:58 with dark shoulder length hair. I don't know the story of 'a stab at Tommy Sands', but I find it funny that you mentioned him here. Dawn can be seen with Tommy in his 'The Statue Dance' video from Hollywood A Go-Go. She's the 1st girl he is singing to if you want to look it up.

    Oooops, My mistake. If you find the Tommy Sands video 'The Statue', Dawn is the SECOND girl (with straight bangs) that he sings to. By the way, love your video's of the SoCal, Sunset Strip area in the mid 60's. I wish I was a young man living there in that time! Looked like a great time to be alive.

    POP closed in the Fall of 1967. In 68, auctioning of rides and attractions took place. Hard to believe POP only lasted 9 years from the summer (July-58) to the fall of 1967. This great film shows POP looking rather ratty. Especially the Sea Circus attraction and Neptune's Garden entrance. POOR POP!

  • @IDLERACER
    @IDLERACER 17 лет назад +1

    This was filmed at Pacific Ocean Park, just after the place had closed down in 1968. Within a year, none of these rides would be functional, and the place laid in rusty ruin until 1972, when a fire destroyed it. By 1975, the wrecking ball had finished off what was left of the pier, which was located where Ocean Park Blvd. meets the beach.

      I watched this after the real movie scene in "Oliver!" sung by an innocent child with real joy from the other singers...this was jarring to me, with her hands on her hips with tennis skirt...what a travesty really...

  • @muspobear

    I can't help but wonder looking at this film numerous times if Nancy was in actuality gloating at the demise of POP? CBS was part owner in the early days of POP and Frank did have a falling out with Columbia records! It was kind of like good ole Nancy was dancing on POP's grave for her Dad in way?!
