  • Hey!
    This video is explaining how my band Brace Yourself runs our both guitars and bass in one unit, the Quad Cortex. I will be uploading my tones soon so keep the look out for my comment to be pinned with how to do that.
    If you're wanting to get this unit you can use Fluff's link here to order yours now: www.sweetwater...

    Hey man! Super great video! I just got my Quad, and planning to run 2 guitars and a bass, for each output just like you showed, what would be the best cabling? XLR to XLR for input 1/2, and 3 6.35 to XLR to the FOH snake? ( No need of DI boxes?)

  • @matetarr1908

    Sick video! How can you automate the changes for two guitars? For example while guitar 1 has rhythm tone guitar 2 clean and vice verse.

    • @fallenlettersband
      @fallenlettersband 5 месяцев назад +1

      You use scenes for that! So in your example, you create a new scene where the guitar 1 has rhythm and guitar 2 has clean, and you create another scene for vice versa. So in this video example let's start with 1st scene
      1) ALL RHYTHM - This means that all guitars and bass has a particular scene which is used for Rhythm, the tones are set for that
      2) JAMISON LEAD - This is a scene where everyone elses setting is same except Jamison whose tone changes to a lead tone (this can be changed by adding anything in the signal chain
      3) ALL CLEAN - This is a scene where all guitars go to clean (maybe all overdrives are off) etc.
      So you can create different scenes for different sections of songs lets say.
      And you'll have to use MIDI switches or automation to know when to switch to a specific scene so it does get a bit tricky, but I think that's how it works. I don't have the CORTEX yet, but this is what I understood!

    I'm also running our band the same way with a couple additions/differences. I have a laptop connected to the QC via USB as an interface and have our set in Reaper. From Reaper the backing track goes to Out 4 and a click track for the drummer to [USB 5 to Send 1] on the spare row (laptop can't send to the QC Sends directly but can send to USB 5), Reaper also does automatic midi switching for our scenes. Problem is that the click is bleeding into Out 3. Can you try sending an additional signal (metronome or something distinctly audible) to either Out 4 or Send 1/2 and see if it bleeds into Out 3? Oh, and you have to make sure the bass is plugged in and (i'm not making this up) the volume knob is turned up on the bass. Thanks!

    • @jamsscott
      @jamsscott  Год назад +2

      Yeah I separate all that so I don’t have to rely on the QC that heavily like I already do. Using an interface like a focusrite 8i6 will benefit you more since you can run tracks, midi, and click off that and have the QC just for tones and reading the midi sends

    • @bexserver
      @bexserver Год назад

      Thanks for the reply. I understand why you wouldn’t want to rely on the QC for backing tracks and clicks, but the manual says it’s an interface so I figure that’s how I’m going to use it. If you could be so kind, would you mind doing the test i mentioned in the original comment? Dig your tones on the QC too, sounds awesome

    Thats an awesome feature. I'm new to the QC so my question is: Is it possible to save the single channel strips for each path (git 1/2, ...) and to combine these later on for different scenes? Or do i have to create every single scene from scratch?
    Thanks a lot for your videos.

      The QC has several operating modes. “Scene mode” lets you save a scene (capture a specific set and assign it to a foot switch. Eg: A-Lead Tone, B-Rhythm Tone, etc.). There are a few other modes like “Stomp Mode” which lets you use the QC as a “traditional” pedalboard, assigning each foot switch to a pedal (overdrive, reverb, delay, etc.) to switch it on or off. You also have “Preset Mode” which assigns different presets to different foot switches, etc.
      Hope this helped!
