And this is why we all wanted Nate Navarro to demo this beast! Not only was his playing outstanding, as usual, but he covered exactly what most of us wanted to see. Thanks for the fantastic demo(you could've made it twice as long and it would've just been twice as awesome, ;-) )!
Well so far only distortions and overdrives and occasional fuzz but I do hope it can capture some of the other kinds of pedals so I can leave them in studio.
Unreal tool- so “want” is an understatement. This is what bassists needed and the technology is here. And your playing is quite awesome (serious ear candy- your tone and techniques killlllllllllllll!).
Thanks for this great video, Nate! I've been considering a Quad Cortex for a while. The recent updates and your demo, while you made it a couple of years ago, are what has sold me.
That's it! I am pulling the trigger on it and that's because of you and your fantastic demo man! I kept saying to myself that's completely overkill and I already have a full pedalboard with a hx stomp but it weighs more than 17 kg/~ 40lbs bulky and not that practical at all but Now!! I can have my amp+cab mod and all my pedals in one single enclosure ! I'm impressed and Sold 😃 thanks Nate! And thanks Neural DSP for providing us with such great products!
Orrrrrr.......hear me out. We buy this....go to a guitar store and ask to demo pedals but as we "demo," we take the Quad Cortex out and then capture the pedals and then put them back being like "nahh not interested."
Great video. I am a newer Bass VI player(about a year, guitar for like 20 years) and this thing especially with new update is so freakin nice. I love air pushed from an amp but I also love traveling light. Haha. It’s uncanny how amazing this is.
I swear to god you must be a species from another planet. Fantastic player, articulate and almost robotic when describing this pedal. Ive seen your other videos. Amazing! I have subscribed.
That "Hysteria" preset was jaw-dropping. This is what happens when companies like Line 6 try to ride a product for 6 years or more... someone else comes along, and drinks their milkshake.
I mean, if you compare the price of this singular floor unit to the prices of the real world counterparts that it contains, I'd say it's worth it. Plus this is the same price as the Kemper Stage, The Line6 Helix, though significantly more expensive than the Headrush.
DOOD!!! I so want one of these.. Kinda outta budget for me right now tho.. So maybe someday.. But something i can afford is subscribed to your channel Nate.. You my Bass Playn brother are a total Bad Ass on a Bass.. Its almost Ridiculous , lol ... I could watch and listen to you shred a Bass for hours.. You have truly earned my Respect as a Bass Player Nate.. I thank you for sharing you undeniable gift with the world.. Keep doing what you do, it makes people smile.. well i sure did at least.. LOL so you could literally go into a store and capture pedals haha. I had a HX Effects wasnt really getting the full use out of it. Right now Im using a Darkglass compressor Darkglass Vintage Microtube and Sans Amp. what is some good option to do rock or rockabilly also some funk like Family Affair Mary J blige? I know the sound im looking for but to get it is tricky
Very nice sounds. Did you have the same software revision as Paul Davids demo unit? His video shows big drop outs between patch changes (I know that is common on high end modellers). I'd like to hear if there are any dropouts when changing within a Scene. The Helix is very fast for Snapshot changes and so is the Axe3. For me that is the key as to whether it is usable live or not.
Doug made a statement on this , apparently that’s already been sorted out I.e drop outs in between patches . Apparently PD’s video was shot some time ago.
There’s also more stuff in that facebook group and on the discord server . Doug seems quite respondent in the discord and TGP. The thing I think is pretty relevant is that these bits of feedback the Paul David’s and Rhett Schull suggest are great for spotting over sights or suggestions a lot of us can agree with . I’m pretty confident the Feedback given is listened to and addressed in fixes and communication on or around issues. I know everyone wants a pristine unit that works without flaws but you need beta testers and reviews to find the issues or suggestions, support back ideas , and discover stuff that needs fixing . I wouldn’t be bothered if they shipped the unit now and they were expecting us to find issues . And I wouldn’t mind waiting either so a select few can beta test and bug find , I would support a delay for this very reason.
@@douglascastro320 cheers Doug.. thanks for clarifying . . To be honest I’m so used to using patches/presets to change settings I got used to to it. I have to say though on my mooer ge300 changing from one preset to next was pretty good , unless the preset was in a different bank . However I think the scenes mode will be exactly what I need to do in order to do what I’m doing presently ! Again thanks for the reply. Just proves my point that your very active in the community, it does make me ( and others) very confident through the support you give and will continue to give once the cortex is released .👍
Nathan! Do you have any tips for how to make the double thumb technique less sound more even? Whenever I do it there's always such a heavy emphasis on the downstrokes, especially at higher tempos. Sick video and tones!
Thanks, man! Yeah, try these out: Experiment with different double thumb positions along the neck. I usually double thumb at the last couple frets so that the downstrokes and upstrokes both smack/snap the string against the frets with around the same intensity. Double thumbing over the neck pickup, and less often the bridge pickup, can give good results too, but usually less aggressive. Compression and/or distortion will help things sound bigger and more even.
@@NateNavarro Thanks so much! And for avoiding hitting the thicker strings on the upstroke, is it just a matter of good left hand muting, or should I adjust the angle of my stroke?
Hi! Do you know if it's possible, when recording, to record clean from one output, and with effects from another output? Trying to explain a little better: from the same input, I would split the signal: one clean going from output 1, for example, to a preamp; the other one I would apply effects, and going from output 2 to another preamp. Is that possible? Thank you!
Hi Nate 1 question it may seen obvious to others but not me, im just an old school player who plays just through my amp&cab not through a computer (though I wish I was up to understanding technology more, I don't have a computer to set it up at home like most people nowdays) so am I right in hearing what you said I've no need for a computer & could just set this up with my standard amp & cab or even a big combo unit? As always loved the video & the way you come across & explain things always with a smile, cheers Nate 👍
Hey, TheOldmandaddio! Yeah, you can plug and play without needing a computer or smartphone. The Quad Cortex can be placed between your bass and amp in the signal chain, or you can enable a cab simulator and go straight to house. The Quad Cortex interface is pretty intuitive and very thorough. It'll allow you to create simple and complex patches quickly without the apps. All my best, Nate
