I hope you guys enjoy this deep dive into Neural DSP's latest and greatest achievement! I know how hard they've worked on this incredible product and, believe me, it's been worth the wait and all the hype - this thing is amazing! Just check out the Dual Fusion capture towards the end of the video - MIND BLOWN. Let me know your thoughts below and if you'll be picking a Quad Cortex up for yourself. Stay safe and well guys and thanks as ever for watching. Tom
Really good and very high quality video in all aspect, well structed and perfect explained video. IT sounded BLOODY freaking good!. Really well done Tom
Hey! Great demo - I'm a fan of trying to recreate the feeling of "amp in the room" with most of my presets on the HX stomp and other modelers. I know you've mentioned this "practice" in other videos, perhaps of the stomp? Usually involving a room-reverb in the end or maybe by using room-mic IRs and such. I was wondering if you've tried getting the "amp in the room"-sound with the Quad Cortex with good results?
@@Blahaba mate... in a recording studio we put the amp in a room & then mic it & sit in another room... we then process it, mix it , master it & then release it... amp in the room tone doesn’t sit well in a mix which is why we do it this way so to try & recreate it seems nonsensical to me when we’re trying to recreate a recorded amp for a mix... so can I politely ask, what will you do with your amp in a room sound?
@@stuartangel8212 it sounds a little bit cold and sterile to me. I've seen all the best players demos they sound great this thing is amazing. It's just not warm enough for me I wish someone would warm it up a little in the demo
How many presets does it come with? I'm looking for my next tool for my studio and I make tracks all day, so I need lots of cool presets. Sounds great!
Killer tones man. When you dialed in the first tone without playing a note, then strummed the chord and it sounded like a normal amp really shows the accuracy of this unit. An amp with three dials is typically easy to get good sound on and this unit seems to accurately replicate that. I’m here for it.
I received mine two weeks ago. I played live 2 days later going straight into the P.A .It’s fantastic. The audio guy said I never sounded better. I played the whole show on one setting. I set up a clean sound and would tap on a couple different drives, reverb and delays as needed. I also ran this into back of my Suhr badger effects return using only the power stage to drive it. Really amazing.
I ordered one months ago and now will have the Fractal, Kemper and The Cortex. It sure seems great. I've saved your advert to watch again. Thanks for your advice and awesome playing.
There is in "Preset Mode" because it has to completely delete and reconstruct a signal chain, but in "Scene" and "Stomp" modes it shouldn't, because all of the components have already been loaded and you'd just be changing settings and bypassing/turning on models already in the chain.
I sold my Helix today after having it for so long, moved over to the Neural DSP family. What a unit, two years down the line and it feels this company / product is going from strength to strength.
@@Leo-jt3tc Reth Shull said that some preset are janky... but the real power of this unit is the ability to share captures / tones... you have access to all the tones possible, with a little bit of time this will be the favorite guitarist companion!
Wow! This was so cool and interesting and well thought / executed introduction and a demo of the product! I would love to see you make more videos of this unit. You should be the official guy for Neural DSP tutorials
Great video, thanks for creating this. This unit sounds awesome, almost as awesome as your outstanding playing. I pre-ordered this a couple months ago, waiting...
Thanks Tom for your great review & damn fine demo of the Quad Cortex Neural Dsp. Its head & shoulders above the rest on RUclips. You review is super to follow & digest making it a joy to watch without causing confusion or doubts about choices & methods in using the device. I now own one & refer to your demo as a reference when needed if I'm in any need. Or in case I've missed out on anything. The unit itself is fortunately very intuitive to use but in the hands of an expert like yourself, its lends added help and support when using its many geat features. And ultimately, you'll save me time and help me prevent or overcome any problems along the way. Cheers mate !!
Not that I needed any reassurance of my preorder of the QC, but i am now even more excited about getting my hands on it! Incredible video Tom and thank you for taking the time and effort to create this.
Bro! Please dont apologize! This video just sold me on QC. I currently play a helix. Now i just need to some how get my hands on the limited edition one
Thanks for the video and especially thanks for showing the dynamics of the unit! (the reason why I never really went away from the Axe Fx....but now I'm getting interested in the quad cortex :)
Love this thing. Almost passed on it due to not being happy with the 2 other tweaker’s. This is easy to set up and sounds and feels great. Especially, with your own external pedal. Amps always win but this thing is even fun not a pita. Great job Tom.
Wow, great video, best demo yet - though we still need some more patches demoed... but you did cover everything else... Awesome playing as usual... Did you go direct into a DAW for this video?
Great demo and always amazing playing! At the end, when you change the gain on the Jubilee capture settings, is it "guessing" what the Jubilee's increased gain would sound like, or just adding Neural's gain? Does that makes sense?
I've had a Quad Cortex on pre-order since January 2020. After multiple shipping delays, it's nice to see that influencers are finally getting their hands on the unit... Makes me believe that my unit might not be too far away. Great playing and tones, Tom! Then again, you could probably make a Squier Bullet Strat and a Line 6 Spider Amp sound phenomenal! 😂😂😂👍🏽👍🏽
Like dogs to a bone, guitar players are so drawn to the latest bone! The salivating is palpable... Of course it looks great, I'm a guitar player!! That 7 inch touch screen, amount of power and other things are crazy appealing. But Kemper is a trusted, faithful friend, that keeps giving free updates, and more than meets my needs. I've got a lot of awesome profiles, including killer Hiwatts, my present favorite.
According to the web search results I found, the Quad Cortex pedal can run up to three parallel paths, each with its own effects blocks. However, it seems that you cannot run four separate parallel paths, routes with four different effects. You can only run two or three parallel paths, routes with different combinations of effects. You can also use the master delay and reverb blocks to apply global effects to the entire signal chain. Can u confirm that? Thnxx brother ❤
Amazing demo!! Do you happen to know if the Pitch Shift effect is polyphonic? Like could you use it to emulate a guitar tuned half a step lower? Thanks!
So the QC won’t capture chorus pedals. If capturing the clean channel of an amp and you put a chorus pedal in either the front of the amp or in the effects loop and then did an amp capture. Would this work? Will the QC capture the amps clean channel with the chorus?
Hello Tom, I've just purchased a quad cortex (very excited for its arrival) however I'm unsure of how to go about the speaker setup, frfr, power amp and cab or just active monitors, which would you recommend?
Great video. I would love to see you capture a pedal and then A/B it with the original pedal in front of a real amp, rather than into the QC. It would be great if I could capture and replace my pedal board with the QC when I'm playing the real tube amp, (no amp or cab sims switched on in the QC), as well as having all the other QC features. I would then use the QC amp and cab sims (and effects) for headphone use and recording
I have a quad cortex. It’s the future of guitar. Line 6 helix and kemper was good but the interface and sounds are so close to real thing on QC I can’t tell the difference at this point. It’s perfect form factor too.
Just came to hear Tom. Cheaper than an Axe FX hmmm. As an audio interface, what's the latency like? Please don't apologise for the length of the video :)
These sound sweet! I have a kemper and ofcourse it's nice as well. Im curious as to whether this is powered or reliant on powered up speakers to project. This is definitely something to keep an eye on to see how it evolves!
Looks and sounds awesome. Seems as though the designers have really thought hard about making it intuitive and reliable. Very tempted. The lockdown beard is a great feature too, though I already have one of those on my board.
Yeah, Tom Quayle makes everything sound good, BUT, the closeness of the captures to the actual gear is what's impressing me the most. I wonder how adjustable the parameters are for a capture?
Going off my experience with Kemper there isn't too much you can do once it's captured. That's why when you buy profile packs they will comes with a load of captures with varying settings.

Looks like an awesome advancement on digital tech. I have a gigrig g2 powered rig and this could easily duplicate it with a 10th the weight.

Never apologize for long videos with thorough content. It’s what is honestly greatly lacking in RUclips-World.
100% I could watch Tom playing with this for hours! Can't wait to see more.
Sounds bloody awesome dude!
Yeah dude - it's such a fantastic device! Thoroughly enjoyed your video.
You sound bloody awesome, Bea!
It’s a Leeds thing - all the best UK guitarists have a Leeds connection ;-)
crazy to think Rabea now has his own Neural plugin!

Finally, a demo highlighting clean tones with something other than power chords! Thank you. Sounds great Tom!!
.my Helix Floor just got up and walked out of my house with this really sad look
absolutely incredible demo Tom, answered all my questions and addressed any overhype anxiety.

Great demo, what really sells this is the little grin when you switch to the capture of the Dual Fusion, says it all.
that smile of satisfaction when you realize that it's finally here what you always wanted 37:40. min 😁
Just seeing this now (early 2023) but the best description of the QC I've seen anywhere - thanks Tom.
Sensational. Just watched about 15 different Quad Cortex videos on RUclips and this video is by far the best sounding one. Not even close.
I was already planning on getting one, but your video along with Rabea's completely sold me on the Quad Cortex. Incredible playing and tones, Tom!
Great content. Do the patches morph into one another when switching from one patch to another or is there a short silence in the sounds and fx?
There is in "Preset Mode" because it has to completely delete and reconstruct a signal chain, but in "Scene" and "Stomp" modes it shouldn't, because all of the components have already been loaded and you'd just be changing settings and bypassing/turning on models already in the chain.

Amazing tones and amazing playing as always.
One of the best review I have seen of the QC! Bravissimo!!! 🙏🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
THIS is the demo this unit needed. If you’re making presets, then this might be the first unit in history with usable presets out of the box! 🤗

Wow, it really sounds incredible. Thanks for the video.
I’m glad you showcased the plexi. All of the other reviewers didn’t show it. It sounds so good! Quad Cortex will be happening for me!
Fantastic Tom - thanks for the vid and your great work. The "Clean Lead" sounded especially awesome to these ears!

i love the extra thump in the QC version
Great video Tom. Thank you. I just received my preorder unit yesterday, been playing with it today. The UI is really nice and easy.
The best thing I learned was the old sheet music stand to hold the modeler trick. perfect.

Sounds good here Tom. I have the Dual Fusion too. 👍
Hi Tom , you had a much more touch sensitive tone and inspired playing when you done the demo of the Boss GT 1000 core , lol !
Excellent presentation of the features and possibilities! Terrific playing too. Maybe most important, thanks for getting "Neutrik" right! :D
Very good review. Thanks so much!
Thanks for this, really great in depth demo, much appreciated.
Sick playing man, great tones!

Tom sounds great even on Line 6 pocket Pod
Thanks for this, Tom! Sounding super cool!

Thanks for the video
On the scene with overdrive reverb and chorus you turned the volume down on the guitar and the unit reacted like a tube amp sounded really good !

Congratulations, you have a lot of taste playing

Ohh yeah! Finally a video! I'll do as you said, grab a coffee and then go for the dive!

great video, the problem for me, is I only need two sounds. Clean and Dirty, and a compressor pedal. :)
Thanks, man! This is a really useful and enjoyable video.

Is this recorded through a AMP or directly from the Quad Cortex?? ?????????????????????????
good question, assuming direct to DAW
Why would it be through an amp? It's guitar --> QC --> computer/daw
