I game the i525s and I have to say that there is something to the micro max grooves coupled with the hydropearl finish. I get very consistent numbers out the rough and in slightly damp conditions. An excellent combination of real innovation yielding real performance benefits.
Pretty sure that the i210 was the most played Ping iron on tour and I suspect the i230 will be as well. It is just so consistent and has the help even the best players appreciate.
Probably very similar. But if you compare any similar style of iron in the last 10 years there wont be but difference, a T-100 will be the same as an AP2. Will only change if you go to a different style of iron.
@@craigvn1 i have the i200s. it kind of is getting old. getting the i230s. they feel so much better. They have made it look like a blade without sacrificing forgiveness
I love that you say any golfer could hit these. I hate the iron type buckets and putting certain handicaps in said buckets. As a high handicapper (20+) I’ve played Game improvement irons for years even though I don’t need offset and don’t care about extra distance. I tried these irons and was blown away! I’ll take predictable distance and better dispersion any day! Less offset is also helping with my miss left (i’m rh). If you struggle with game improvement irons and have jumpers and hit it left. Give these babies a try!
Played ping for last 20 years, eye2, i3, i20s, i25, i210 pretty safe to say these will be in my bag next season. As always solid review Mark and maybe even some showcasing to get connected with ping .
Sorry about the Padres. But when I lived in Sydney, I worked for the Sydney Blue Sox as their Advance Scout. We had a young 1st baseman named Rhys Hoskins. I knew he was special. He is now one of the heroes for the Phillies. And those Ping irons also look special!
Rhys was so kind to us a few years ago in spring training, love to see him succeed (and more than make up for his deficiencies in the field). Go Phillies!
Just got fit for a set today. Playing i5s currently and I can’t believe how good these feel. .5 inch short with TTPx 6.0 I actually gained 12 yards and hit them significantly tighter. Cannot wait to get them in my bag.
MN these look SO GOOD!!! Played the Ping i20s for several years and loved them !! I hit the i525 with the Project X IO 5.5 shaft and DAMN did they feel nice!!! I am in the market for a new set after the first of the year and PXG 0211 XCOR2, PXG 0311 GEN4P irons, and PING i525 & these new Ping i230 irons now are on the list to get a fitting and see which fairs out the best!! What a GREAT review Mark, I am hoping someday you will become a PING-sponsored person as I love all the things you have brought to the table with Titleist and Srixon, such great content !!! Would love to see you go to Arizona and get a FULL bag fitting and watch a video of your full fitting as I have always wished I had the money to go to Scottsdale and get a full bag fitting.
Please hear me out! I love Mizunos! However, I have not hit a more pure controlled shot until I tried my buddies i230 PW. These irons explode on impact giving you the best feeling, the best trajectory and soft landing. Amazing. And I have always played Mizunos. I use 105tour nippon shafts on my jpx hot metal and after hitting with the Alta cb aws shafts (graphite) PW it went further than my own PW. I’m really considering switching to Ping i230s. I would say try them out and compare. I really like the regular graphite shaft.
I currently use the iBlade (PX 5.5) but also have the i210 with the AWT 2.0 Regular shafts which I love. If I had the extra $ I would love to buy this i230 but... don't have it so planning to play with these 2 sets for the next few years... Thank you for all the videos~
What’s the forgiveness on these? One got some old Nike VR forged combo irons but I want something more forgiving on off centre hits, coming up short too often lately
@@George-cz9go For me they are great. My misses were good. You may want to try the 525 also, it is more forgiving but certainly hit them both with the proper shafts is huge.
Hi Mark, just saw this review. Thank you for your relentlessness attitude. How does this fair against the TM p770. Is it more forgiving accuracy wise on off centre hits?.
I’m still playing the i10 irons. I’ve been waiting for these to release so I can try them. Almost bought the i210s last year but decided to wait. I can’t wait to hit these.
I'd be delighted to test the i230's! Currently gaming i210's which I love, previously had the i200's and the iE's. Each new model looks better and there is a slight improvement in performance, they really care about producing a fantastic product. Lifelong Ping devotee.
I love this line so much. If I pay for two two rounds of golf do you think they will let me play two sets of clubs and two balls? I adore my Mizuno MP-20s, but would really love to hit these also, why can't I do both?
Looks to be a follow up to i210 and previous to that the i25? I'm looking to replace my i25's would you say a similar club to the old i25? Just with new tech? They seem to be similar in shape and top line.
FINALLY upgrading my Ping i15's to these! I love Ping irons & this is finally checking all the boxes I've wanted out of them. Especially since you're paying a premium for Ping, you better love them to death (like I have my i15's) for years to come.
I would relentlessly test these solid clubs 😉 Never used to be a Ping fan, but in fitting the numbers made it hard to not like! Been gaming i500’s for a few years and love them.

Hey Mark, I’m a 3-4 handicap currently gaming T100 Irons. Looking for something a little more forgiving. Would you go JPX 923 Forged or Ping i230 irons if you had to choose between those two?
I made the switch myself last summer from t100 to i230, I’m also a 3 handicap and the i230 made my iron play even more precise, they are very true to their numbers and this club does not produce jumpers and you will see an immediate difference in your ball control into greens. My recommendation is see which loft specs fit you best!
I would test these clubs if I were in the market. I live in San Diego County. Thanks for wearing your Padres jersey. 😀 Too bad games three, four and five didn't go our way, either. 😥

Would love to be able to go out and actually play with different sets and see how different clubs feel and perform, just so I can understand what these videos are going on about when reviewing clubs! These do look amazing clubs though.
Would enjoy testing these!! I’m playing Ping Anser irons and have a set of Callaway MB’s. I’m a scratch golfer. Good rounds 2 under. Bad rounds 2 over.
Would like to hear your reccs on starter club recommendations as golfer gets better like ping g30 to i20 to i230. Also, I was pulling for the friars but unfortunately too much might with the phils. Tatis would have made a difference.
Wish you'd shown the head in the longer irons and compared the size and offset to their other models. I owned the I10s briefly but in the 6 iron and longer couldn't stand the look behind the ball. Had to move it back in my stance so as not to hit it a bit fat and just couldn't get comfortable. Purchased brand new S56 irons and am still playing them.

Love Ping… so here’s a question that’s probably impossible to answer…. For a 14 handicap with club speed around 80-90mph but good ball striker would you go i525 or i230?
Try both. I would guess the i525 is probably the better option given your swing speed, but it would be an interesting test. Despite what others say, if you strike your irons reasonably well you will be fine with the i230s - I play i210s and was playing off 12 when I got them and I love them
If it weren't for the price I would be looking at these, but as there is not much difference to the i525 range there may be better value there, currently playing Mizuno JPX 921 HM, may go back to my Ping roots, see what Santa brings😁
Seriously considering these despite the price. Just because they are Ping. Just not sure as a 12-15 handicap I’m worth the extra money and was pretty much decided on the cobra forgetec but they do look quality and also Ping just make good clubs.
I’d agree that these aren’t that different from the i21’0’s they’re replacing (other than the now traditional heel and toe weight that are in all Ping irons). Was wondering if a replacement for the G710 was next up?🤔
i would test them, but not sure is i would replace my current G425's. it would have been good to see how they matched up against your set Mark, being i based my sticks of your set-up. playing strong sticks. ok then great vid again cheers. Also Ryan Fox Used a Ping anser putter at the Dunhill.
