1st off, thank you for having a great baseball mind like the great Bob Costas. I'm so grateful that you mentioned great 2nd basemen. As a Lifelong Detroit Tigers Fan, I believe that The Legendary Lou Whitaker, should be iin The Baseball Hall of Fame. Along with Tigers HOFER Alan Trammell, they were probably the best double play combination in recent MLB history.
For the past decade.. maybe 2 decades.. people who know and love Baseball, have lamented it's ever shrinking popularity. BASEBALL needs a "Renaissance" .. and THIS BOOST of popularity and attention to Baseball WORLDWIDE. The Dodgers getting him.. and expanding his reach and BASEBALL POPULARITY is a no brainer GREAT thing for baseball.
@@user-lx8fu7uk7x Possibly some day it might be, but baseball is mostly a regional sport, cheered for by fans of that team, hence why Sunday night baseball ratings are so low. I guess we will have to see what impact this has in Asia
Manfred has made the game improvements Selig sat on. I think the move was a decade too late. Younger fans have tuned baseball out. Nothing was worse on ESPN radio than a 4+ hr Yankees - Red Sox game. The players have adjusted and 2 1/2 hour games are about right.
@@burprobrox9134Agree...Lance was a great sprinter but the hills killed him. We will never know the absolute truth due to the massive doping that was going on before Lance started "the program" and after he mastered it.
Professional sports both watching on TV and even more so watching a game in person has become outlandishly expensive. Responsible people many of those of modest means simply will not or can not afford to watch most of these games anymore. Then you see players getting paid three quarters of a Billion dollars to play a game and organizations and owners making even more money then that. It makes me sick. Going back to the 90s and earlier tickets and tv bills for cable were reasonable and everyone essentially had access to watch their sports teams and heroes. No longer. Like the rest of America it has become ruined by greed.
There are probably fewer "clean" elite professional athletes than we can even imagine, than not. With billions available to "winners" pharmaceutical enhancement is an option.
Or they can get a salary cap and fix the sport so it doesn't matter which market a player is in. Nobody says it's bad for football that Mahomes is in Kansas City. Because in the NFL, market is irrelevant. Yet clueless baseball fans keep defending this broken system, instead of demanding better.
they eventually won't care about steroids: PED use is endemic is US society-even among casual gym goers. Of course they hide it under the excuse of "trt". And in my opinion, HOF has really watered down its standards. The HOF should be for those generational players who dominated their eras.
Not one of the 10 year contracts have panned out for the teams. Players in their later 30s and early 40s just can't maintain their performance without some enhancing drugs. Bryce Harper bringing up an extension was laughable.
The baseball HOF is so screwed up, compared to other sports HOF's. You don't hear football, hockey or basketball players or writers whining about players busted for using steroids getting in their HOF's. Baseball has a 162 game reg season, so the writers are spending 200+ days per year w/these superstars. And since the writers decide who gets into the HOF the writers are using the HOF as a way to get back at players who they didn't like or think disrespected or didn't treat them the way they felt they deserved to be treated. The entire system for getting into the baseball HOF has become so annoying. Bonds & Clemens deserve to be in, it's not like they were the only ones caught using. Average players, pitchers, relievers & bench players were caught too. So everyone was using at that time, singling out the superstars just feels petty & wrong
Outstanding interview.Hey Dan you compare 49ers better than Cowboys. Because 49ers. Scored more points on Eagles,But Look How Many points Cowboys scored on Seahawks, n look how many 49ers scored on Seahawks? Cowboys Are The Better improved team today!! Thanks
Bob Costas talking shit about Canada. Ohtani and baseball would have been just fine if he signed in Toronto. Stop with this ridiculous garbage and nonsense about Canada. It’s tone death and feeds into the hate.
Always loved Costas storytelling baseball history. But to be honest, he's not a very good play by play guy on TV. Last season's playoffs were tough to watch with him.
Absolutely Love listening to Costa's thoughts and contributions to the overall world of sports. He's Great!

Love listening to Bob Costas....since 1988 Olympics.
Always a pleasure to hear Bob Costas talking Baseball.

The problem with playing on the west coast is half the country will rarely see him play because of time zones. Out of sight, out of mind
@@HamiltonRbwest coast time is friendly to Asia fans, it’s more important. BASEBALL should be GLOBAL sport not just in US.

Yes. I'm watching baseball talk in December.

My brother inlaw raced in the tour de France. He says they all juices and Armstrong would have been the best if no one juiced
Not true at all. Go look before Lance really hit it, he was a mid pack racer at best, he wasn’t even the best on his team. I was there

Then why have teams outside of New york and LA. and they want to look into expanding to Europe. lmao.
need some Yankee discussion
This is the best sports show and has been for a while.
Bob, the walking dictionary.
The last great pitcher/field position player - Babe Ruth?
wasn't baseball much more popular when teams across the country had big star players?

If Ohtani would have been bad for Baseball in Toronto, they might as well sell the team and move.

@scotts8926 I think the point is the wrong market.

2 good liberal, leftists. Listen to them now. What a boring situation. I agree, yep, I agree. Yep I agree danny. Yep, I agree little bobby.

Another silly take by a ranking member of the old boys club…baseball is so broken…sad really…
Bob Costas is a unicorn
Don Mattingly better be in your top 3 all time 1st basemen. Any thing other than that is unacceptable
