Same here in Singapore, the x570-e is $575 and the Crosshair 8, well, ranges from $650-750 depending on the retailer, for whatever reason. Mostly closer to $750.

If you're already spending $300 on a board you might as well spend the extra 50 and get the flagship model. The crosshair viii is an 8 layer PCB instead of 6 like this one and comes with handy extra features like onboard buttons for power, reset, MemOK!, etc. and other features like larger chipset heatsink with different angled design and larger fin area.

Yeah, Mindfactory (one of Germany's biggest online-dealers) removed Asus from their line-up a couple weeks ago, apparently cause of Asus' pricing. Asus is charging a hefty premium lately.

Well, if the prices are different in your region, then obviously the conclusion is different for you. At over 100 euro less, the Strix-e makes a lot of sense. Only downside is that Strix boards get less rapid BIOS updates than the Crosshair boards (source: X470 Strix owner)
This time the Strix boards aren't that watered down too, unlike with recent Intel releases, where the quality of the boards was much worse. This could be a thing as I only had high end Asus boards, that were patched regularly.
Asus seems to have changed the SOC vrm section on the Strix X570-E Gaming wifi II. The SOC area and the 3 phases above the CPU has been flipped, stacking all the CPU VRMs to the left and in the corner. SOC is now the two right most sections, Asus did the same thing on the Crosshair 6 Extreme. The top right 3 power areas stay vastly cooler than the other area. Not sure why they did so, but there it is, the II model does have some changes. 300 watt load is showing 55c temps at the hottest section on a water cooled CPU and chilled water at 10c, VRMs still air cooled. It's still quite strong and overkill. Will get a shot of the II board submitted soon.
In my town, Hong Kong, Strix-E is HKD$2680(USD 344) and Hero is HKD $3230(USD 414) non-wifi / $3350(USD 429)with wifi E is around HKD$500/USD$70 cheaper than Hero
As I put in one of your other videos, the Strix X570-E is more expensive where you are (looking) for some reason. Here in Australia the X570-E is $489 while the Crosshair VIII Hero is $649. Using the usual "AUD pricing = USA price converted to AUD (~$0.65USD per $1 AUD) then add 10% for tax", it puts the Strix 570-E at about $290 USD while the Hero is about $385 USD. That price difference makes the two boards more reasonably priced in relation to each other. :\
Update for November 1st, 2020. In the US the Strix X570-E is going for $299.00 versus the Crosshair VIII Hero(Wifi) for $379.99. If I was LN2 OC'ing I'd do the Hero but since I'm not I'm going for the Strix.
@@santeenl No contest then.......super good price. I managed to rope one for $300.00 USD here so basically British pounds 230.00 or Euro 258.00. Available stock is starting to clear out with November 5th upon us.
I'm in europe and I also bought X570-E over the hero. With ryzen not clockin that much and I'm not doing extreme overclock I just can't see a reason to pay 100 euro more. For the hero with wifi. I realy like how this is positioned for europe. Even 70 euro difference in MSRP grows to 100 euro, when you add like 5-10% retailer margin and 20-25% VAT on top of that. And dual LAN is quite important for me as I have 2 seperate ISPs for redundancy.
The VRM layout confuses me really; 2 big phases of IR3553, for your Quad-core Ryzen APU (or potentially a 6-core but it doesn't matter anyways). Asus is cheaping out and spending more on so many random places which they shouldn't :/
@Ivan Martinez-Kay I watched the video, I just don't see why Asus would want to stick such a high-end SOC VRM knowing that no one would even buy it for an APU Something like a TUF with 2 phases of SiC 639s is enough
@Ivan Martinez-Kay The VRMs are stellar and all, but to be fair it's on a too competitive price point. My opinions align with Bzs on the fact that I want the Strix F to vanish, and the Strix E's price be pushed down to the Strix F. Makes wayyyy more sense then
@Ivan Martinez-Kay I never mentioned the Strix E being the worst board value-wise, what I'm saying is that because of how god damn competitive the price point the Strix E is currently in, it should really adjust its pricings a bit better
la scelta migliore da noi secondo me è la msi meg ace... 360 euro. Io sto optando per questa mobo, sperando che la hero scenda di prezzo, ma dubito che accada
Its not ALL about the VRM. This is clearly a good board if need its feautures. And in Sweden the difference between this board and the Hero is basicly $120ish, if you go for the hero with wi-fi its more like $150. So why would anyone need even better VRM when this is overkill allready. But then again, Europe is being sucked dry of dollares when it comes to computer components. We are the cash cow!
In America (01/2020) the crosshair VIII is $379.99 and the X570-E is $279.99, that’s why I went with the latter even though I didn’t see it in any roundups.
it pained me alot to watch this video, in Pakistan Price difference was more than 120$, i know you have compared to a store where you lived, but your videos are not country specific, my humble request is, try to add price difference in a way that we can connect to it, like you can say if differece is more than 100$ or Euro, then what should we buy, if difference is like 30$ than definetly I know I have to buy higher end. we love your videos.
It's on black friday sale for 317,32$ (with WI-Fi) in Denmark right now, I am considering. Remember we have 25% VAT here. The ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO (WI-FI) is 565,45 Amerikansk dollar atm. The DARK HERO WIFI is 652,01$.
In the UK the price difference between strix wifi and the hero wifi is about £135 more for the the hero, and I bought the strix-e because I wanted the wifi 6 and bluetooth without the extra £135 cost. The price on Amazon UK for the strix e is £249.98 incl VAT (tax)
Could someone help me? I bought this board and the jack ports none of them detects my speakers. The windows keep using my mic as "speakers" and my actual speakers are nowhere detected!
x570-e at 299 makes more sense IMO (current pricing of the non wifi), the -f is basically just mising wifi for 40$ less than the E as well, the hero is around 370 IF you can find it
Where I live, the price difference is about $125 because only the HERO WiFi is available locally and I probably won't use the extra features to justify the price difference.
FYI, in the UK the Strix-E is around £305 (Amazon) while the cheapest Crosshair VIII is around £380. Scan is significantly inflating the price of the Strix-E.
in amazon.de this board is about 380 euros(same as the ace right now) and the crosshair hero is about 440 so there is a real difference in price. I'm trying to decide between this and the meg ace, they both have good things.(strix has 8 sata ports and meg has semipassive chipset cooling, Right now I'm leaning for the ace)
@@patressss yeah it's true, the only thing that bothers me(after the price) is the 4 sata ports, which honestly is just so stupid. They should have removed the oc knob. I hate when motherboard manufacturers make choices that are made to "look" impressive for the uneducated. And yeah I know that it has m.2 ports but nvme drives are still expensive and I currently have 3 sata drives already. It won't be a problem, so I'll probably still buy it but it feels like I'm missing out on something compared to the other manufacturers. Msi bios is king tho 👌

yos, it's the board I was looking at Also, the Strix E has WiFi, so it would have to be compared to the WiFi variant of the C8H, which is $379. If you don't need WiFi, just get the WiFi-less C8H.
there is a word called: stupid, but have a lot of money. Basiclly, except 1% geekers and hardcore overlock players, ROG series are espcially designed for them. Asus just print some sologan on MB, like"玩家国度"、"strix"、"Republic of gaming",and they wait to charge EXTRA moneky. ONE FUNCTION, ONE HUNDRED CNY. Why it soo floating? because "stupid but have a lot of money comsumer" and retard Asus Taiwan marketing department.
I received this board today, it was £100 cheaper than the Crosshair Hero so I didn't even look at that. I paid £290 for the Strix X570-E which is way more than I'd normally pay for a motherboard.
This is now £100 less (and under £250) than Hero VIII in UK and I'm getting it. Somehow this board became the best choice right now for X570 mobos with a price drop.
Thank for you this video - here in Denmark there's about 150$ between these two boards, so for us here, the Strix-E makes more sense (The Strix-E is a 430$ dollar board here). But thanks for clearing this up!
But in our country Crosshair VIII Hero=( US$445.00) is US$100.00 more expensive than Strix X570-E =US$ 340.00. With that, is it better to buy the Strix E?
Currently the Hero is € 483 and the Dark Hero is € 459 here in The Netherlands (2021/09/25). The X570-E from Asus is only € 259 which is a whopping 200 euro's difference. Simple choice really, I am overclocking using an AIO on the 5950x so I was doubting to go with either the Aorus Master from Gigabyte or the X570-E from Asus. I am learning more towards Asus due to their track record really.
At which onlineshop do you get the X570-E for 259€? I've seen a pricetag like that on Amazon, but seems the seller ships it in the original box, and often it's already used and no original sealing anymore (at least according to the reviews and photos); in the regular onlineshops, that board is around 310+ € currently (28th September 2021). (Hero VIII ~410 €, Dark Hero VIII ~450 €, so roughly 100-150 € apart from the Strix-E)
544 dollars here in New Zealand which is 264 quid! The crosshair is relative to the UK pricing 688 bucks at 333 quid! Awsome, I thought the parts over here would be dearer than home!
On Amazon UK the Strix-E is £305, and the Hero is £390 from OCUK, so quite a difference there. Based on UK prices, it makes the Strix-F pointless instead of the E.
The one feature no one seems to be seeing is that the E has video out whereas the Hero doesn't. Wouldn't that make it easier to update the BIOS without a CPU/RAM?
The Strix E is $450 and the CHAIR 8 wifi is $650 down here in Straya using ozzie pesos so the Strix is better value based on your arguments. UK pricing you showed is totally out of wack for the boards. I am considering the Taichi ($499 ozzie pesos) but it has basic Lan and no wifi 6 - so future proofing is better with the STRIX IMO and it is the cheapest here.
NA Pricing definitely different 426 vs 475 cad$ E vs Hero. So for $49cad that's our consideration here and that's about spot on the US$ difference or very close. Very classy correcting your earlier misinformation about the board and in true Buildzoid fashion good job on you. All that said I'm following your recommendations from best MB for ryzen and looking to B450 options, $400plus for a MB when you don't need PCIE4 is way to much. Hell the Asus TUF and Gigabyte Elite which are decent boards are $270 here which for a 6/8 core build is a lot. BTW that's the same price or very close to it as the R5 3600 here.

I bought this motherboard and a 3900x and it's just getting to the ram yellow light and then sitting for sec and immediately rebooting.I bought it because i thought my titanium motherboard died, but it was doing the same shit and i bought a power supply thinking that was it and the 3900x and it's still doing the same shit as my titanium was doing. It gets so far and then reboots and shuts off and after a bit trys to boot again.I tried a memory stick from a friend and it got a little farther and then after a bit started doing the same shit.I'm stumped and have spent a lot of money on new shit trying to figure out wtf the problem is.
Since no one replied I’ll do Yes it does actually as the first slot is always the best (x16) so you get the most out of the board using it the second one is (x8) and the last ones are usually (x4) but to be realistic graphics cards now a days don’t make that much use of x16 so there’s no noticeable difference for now it’s more of a future proofing thing but for best results use the x16 just to be on the safe side
in denmark the prices are ASUS ROG Strix X570-E = 390 dollar and the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI) = 555 dollar im guessing youd go for the the strix E because of wifi but the normal crosshair 7 is 510 dollar
Not sure where the prices come from in the US cause they do seem very close. But the Hero is £380 and the Strix is £275 in the UK. In the UK the question is why would you buy the Hero when the strix is 100 less and very nearly as good as the Hero
In Germany theASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING costs 314€ and the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII HERO costs 419€. I think I would get the E Gaming. What do you think I should do ? Is the 100€ difference worth it ?
Regarding the pricing, the gaming-E is 330$ MSRP and Hero 360$ MSRP, Hero Wifi is 380$ MSRP, if you got the hero you will lose wifi, so want wifi, the difference is like 50$, i agree with you, paying 330$, you would pay 380$ and get a better MB and thats exactly what Asus wants, so its a genius marketing and this is why Gaming-E and Gaming-F exist. the Gaming-F is the same board without Wifi, 2.5G Lan and less USB Gen 3.2 ports, all other things are the same, so when you said they could remove these things and put it at 300$, now the Gaming-F makes sense, right?!
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking It is a 4+2 instead of an 6+2 solution but do you think that matters for Ryzen? Like idunno maybe for the 3950x but that's an expensive chip to pair with "a cheaper" motherboard you'd wanna get the hero or something for that right? Idunno i feel like the VRM is fine for even the 12 core one on the f gaming. And they could reduce the price on it. Either that or remove the f gaming and lower the e gaming price one or the other ASUS segmentation with these motherboards is pretty dumb.
Is there anyway of knowing how many PCB layers there are from board to board? I was just curious considering the websites generally just tell the top end, but not the rest of the line ups.
Does the value prop of the X570-E Strix get any better if available pricing places the non-WiFi Hero VIII at anywhere between 100-150EUR above the E-Strix? What would you consider a worthy difference in pricing to "settle" for an E-Strix X570?

Funny that the prices were almost the same here and now the X570 crosshair is €380 here and the x570-E is €260.
570-E is €259 here now and there is a €30 cashback running, so basically €229.
@@santeenl No contest then.......super good price. I managed to rope one for $300.00 USD here so basically British pounds 230.00 or Euro 258.00. Available stock is starting to clear out with November 5th upon us.
bought this board over crosshair hero 8 because this board was for sale as last stock for 150 dollars , so i grabbed it asap. Very satisfied with it
I'm in europe and I also bought X570-E over the hero.
@Ivan Martinez-Kay I watched the video, I just don't see why Asus would want to stick such a high-end SOC VRM knowing that no one would even buy it for an APU
Something like a TUF with 2 phases of SiC 639s is enough
@Ivan Martinez-Kay The VRMs are stellar and all, but to be fair it's on a too competitive price point. My opinions align with Bzs on the fact that I want the Strix F to vanish, and the Strix E's price be pushed down to the Strix F. Makes wayyyy more sense then
@Ivan Martinez-Kay I never mentioned the Strix E being the worst board value-wise, what I'm saying is that because of how god damn competitive the price point the Strix E is currently in, it should really adjust its pricings a bit better
@Ivan Martinez-Kay ah sry, my bad :P
in Romania at this point (December 2020), the Strix E is 325 euro and the Crosshair VIII Hero is 450 euro. So the Strix E makes more sense now.
Here in italy the strix x570-E is 340€ and hero VIII WiFi is 460€
Croshair VIII (Wi-Fi) 480€ in Greece
la scelta migliore da noi secondo me è la msi meg ace... 360 euro. Io sto optando per questa mobo, sperando che la hero scenda di prezzo, ma dubito che accada
Got this board at price of x570- F. Made a good deal.
Now, in Germany the strix Rog 570-e costs 300€ and the crosshair VIII 400. I decided to buy the strix. Bad Idea?
In canada, strix-e $429.99, strix-f $424.99, hero $529.99, formula $819.99. So strix is better price for sure.
In America (01/2020) the crosshair VIII is $379.99 and the X570-E is $279.99, that’s why I went with the latter even though I didn’t see it in any roundups.
Current US prices is $300 for this one and $420 for Crosshair Hero viii.
it pained me alot to watch this video, in Pakistan Price difference was more than 120$, i know you have compared to a store where you lived, but your videos are not country specific, my humble request is, try to add price difference in a way that we can connect to it, like you can say if differece is more than 100$ or Euro, then what should we buy, if difference is like 30$ than definetly I know I have to buy higher end. we love your videos.
You said it has 95% of what you need. Im planning on going with 5900x, what's the 5% that this is missing? Thanks in advance!!
In the UK the price difference between strix wifi and the hero wifi is about £135 more for the the hero,
and I bought the strix-e because I wanted the wifi 6 and bluetooth without the extra £135 cost. The price on Amazon UK for the strix e is £249.98 incl VAT (tax)
thoughts on doing an overall ranking across MB vendors for X570 at the price inflection points?
Yeah would be cool but i think he kinda did that on GN
He doesn't have the actual motherboards, only the pics of them.
Ace is full tier above Strix and on par with Crosshair VIII Hero.
This board 'x570 E' was Released at $299.99
and the 'x570 Hero Wifi' was released at $389.99
The prices you are showing are Vendor mark up prices.
If you ever want to check the real MSRP prices, check Microcenter, they always show the real price they got released at.
Lmao they have it up marked too
Europe (NL) Strix is now €255 and the VII Hero is still at €415 quite a large difference.
Cashbacks €30 and €40
yos, it's the board I was looking at
Also, the Strix E has WiFi, so it would have to be compared to the WiFi variant of the C8H, which is $379.
If you buy a 3700X+ASUS X570 Prime, the MB part just cost 1500 CNY. So, start with it:
1. use better VRM. +100 RMB; (1 more USD cost, 13 USD more income)
2. add 2.5G realtek 8125 RJ45. +100 RMB;
3. add WIFI 6 and BlueTooth 5. +100 RMB;
4. add supereme FX chips, and make 3.5mm port like golden. +100 RMB; (2 more USD cost, 12 USD more income)
5. retard sologan print on it. like"玩家国度"、"Strix"、"Republic of gaming". +100-1000 RMB floating rate;(1 penny more cost, 14-140 USD more income)
so, you can find it price are soo floating everyday, from 2000 RMB in 3700X set, or 2500RMB as single board to 2999 RMB.(about from 280-420$ or 255-380€). Why it soo floating? because "stupid but have a lot of money comsumer" and retard Asus Taiwan marketing department.
Yeah, like all of the people here noted, the price difference here in my country between crosshair H and strix E is also more than us120$
Bought the Strix X570-E Gaming 5 minutes ago for 295€ with shipping. The Crosshair VIII costs at least 405€ here (germany)
But thanks for clearing this up!
same for me , so should i buy strix e then?
@@TheRomi18 that's what I did - have not regretted it 🙂
@@Keade66 cool
But in our country Crosshair VIII Hero=( US$445.00) is US$100.00 more expensive than Strix X570-E =US$ 340.00. With that, is it better to buy the Strix E?
Currently seeing Strix E for $310 and the Crosshair is like $370. Considering I don't really overclock I don't think it's worth it.
"what is my purpose"
"You pass butter"
Based on UK prices, it makes the Strix-F pointless instead of the E.
the bios module where to fiind it?
I wish Hero was cheaper in EU, but Strix-E seems like 95% Hero. Compared to others, I also like that they both have eight 10Gbps rear USB ports.
Love this... Hey maybe you can do an detail over view of the 550B vision Mobo.
The one feature no one seems to be seeing is that the E has video out whereas the Hero doesn't. Wouldn't that make it easier to update the BIOS without a CPU/RAM?
Why should it?
IIRC bios update without those does not involve using display anyway.
Hi! This or Asrock x570 Taichi? I will use a Ryzen 9 5900x. Thx!
Can you do a breakdown on one of those Chinese x79? I really want to hear u rip into those! Lol!
yeah i dont get it why he didnt did it already. I mean i got about 1K likes on LTT and another 250 ish here for the request....
@@dongurudebro4579 probably cuz he already knows they'll suck and it'll be depressing. Lol. Or maybe he already ordered and it takes months to get one. But would love to hear his take.
Here in Finland Strix X570-E is $370 and the Crosshair VIII Hero is $480....
In Poland is big different between boards 1429PLN vs 1829PLN so is around $377 vs $483, $105 different
This board was 280 for me, the hero was 400
That's why I choose the -E Strix.
Phase Doublers have become hard to find during this time of 2020 too so finding a HERO is impossible anywhere but online, I only go to microcenter because i'm not paying the giant european tax they fucking instill on north america
The RGB lights on the back I/O section went out randomly and now comes on rarely at random now on this same board I bought.. i hope there is a fix
What are the screws that cover the fan? The "The Choice of Champions" piece is a separate piece that uses two screws with the Loctite on either tips. What screws are those should I need to replace them?
I bought this motherboard and a 3900x and it's just getting to the ram yellow light and then sitting for sec and immediately rebooting.I bought it because i thought my titanium motherboard died, but it was doing the same shit and i bought a power supply thinking that was it and the 3900x and it's still doing the same shit as my titanium was doing. It gets so far and then reboots and shuts off and after a bit trys to boot again.I tried a memory stick from a friend and it got a little farther and then after a bit started doing the same shit.I'm stumped and have spent a lot of money on new shit trying to figure out wtf the problem is.
now that you say that 4 pin cpu power is unnecessary, does that mean you also don't have to plug it in?
Yes, you don't have to plug it in.
I have this board and a 3700x, never plugged in the 4pin and have no problems
I am getting mixed information on this board. Does it matter which PCIE slot my GPU goes in? I keep hearing it needs to go in the top slot.
Since no one replied I’ll do
Yes it does actually as the first slot is always the best (x16) so you get the most out of the board using it the second one is (x8) and the last ones are usually (x4) but to be realistic graphics cards now a days don’t make that much use of x16 so there’s no noticeable difference for now it’s more of a future proofing thing but for best results use the x16 just to be on the safe side
@@imodi1565 Thank you VERY MUCH!!!
If you check prices on scan now, this once is 295 and for VIII IS 380. If it better to buy x570-E then?
I can't decide between this or the Aorus Ultra for my 5900x. I'm planning to overclock but want the best temps possible...
In Germany the Asus Strix X570-E is 334€ meanwhile the cheapest CH8 Hero is priced at 434€ so thats a massive difference
Yeah I was homing in on this board, I thought it would be the smart choice... Then I saw the price lol went Aorus master instead 😁
Master, Creation and Taichi are my picks. Can't go wrong with mbs around 360 dollars.
in denmark the prices are ASUS ROG Strix X570-E = 390 dollar and the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WI-FI) = 555 dollar im guessing youd go for the the strix E because of wifi but the normal crosshair 7 is 510 dollar
In Germany bought the X570-E for 314€ and ASUS offers an cashback up to 35€ so beeing under the 300€ which is very fine for my personal need
Not sure where the prices come from in the US cause they do seem very close. But the Hero is £380 and the Strix is £275 in the UK. In the UK the question is why would you buy the Hero when the strix is 100 less and very nearly as good as the Hero
Strix is €320 here and the Hero is €430, so here it actually makes sense.
It's the perfect motherboard for me. I leech internet from my neighbor very well while supporting a 5900x.
In Czech - Strix-E 333€ (not in stock first batch come in 10 days), ASROCK Taichi 325€,
Hero 431€ and Hero Wifi 447€,
GIGABYTE - PRO 275€, GIGABYTE - MASTER 427€, MSI - ACE 382€ , MSI - CREATION 505€
In Germany theASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING costs 314€ and the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII HERO costs 419€. I think I would get the E Gaming. What do you think I should do ? Is the 100€ difference worth it ?
Here in Germany the x570-e costs much less than the Crosshair 8. Its 330 vs 430. With this price the x570-e is the better choice.
Finally the VRM 'facts' on this board was cleared out and that's good. I hope for more facts on a solid base and less rambling in the future.
Regarding the pricing, the gaming-E is 330$ MSRP and Hero 360$ MSRP, Hero Wifi is 380$ MSRP, if you got the hero you will lose wifi, so want wifi, the difference is like 50$, i agree with you, paying 330$, you would pay 380$ and get a better MB and thats exactly what Asus wants, so its a genius marketing and this is why Gaming-E and Gaming-F exist.
the Gaming-F is the same board without Wifi, 2.5G Lan and less USB Gen 3.2 ports, all other things are the same, so when you said they could remove these things and put it at 300$, now the Gaming-F makes sense, right?!
nah the F has a worse VRM
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking It is a 4+2 instead of an 6+2 solution but do you think that matters for Ryzen? Like idunno maybe for the 3950x but that's an expensive chip to pair with "a cheaper" motherboard you'd wanna get the hero or something for that right? Idunno i feel like the VRM is fine for even the 12 core one on the f gaming. And they could reduce the price on it. Either that or remove the f gaming and lower the e gaming price one or the other ASUS segmentation with these motherboards is pretty dumb.
Managed to pick up a faulty rgb one for £210 was a steal also managed to fix the rgb by simply reconecting the connection under the heatsinks.
If you OC a ryzen 5000 you don't need that 4 pin?
Is there anyway of knowing how many PCB layers there are from board to board? I was just curious considering the websites generally just tell the top end, but not the rest of the line ups.
SL3DG3HAMM3R27 PCB layers don’t really matter.
@@themonroe654hd6 In my research, the additional layers are to help with signal integrity with PCIe 4.0.
Does the value prop of the X570-E Strix get any better if available pricing places the non-WiFi Hero VIII at anywhere between 100-150EUR above the E-Strix? What would you consider a worthy difference in pricing to "settle" for an E-Strix X570?
I got my X570-E from Micro-center for $299 plus tax 2 days ago. I think it obviously got marked down since this video came out.
