You said that the Strix -E is a much better board, what's the VRM layout like for that is that like the hero VRM layout of 7+1 with extra power stages? I am going to use a 3900X in a crosshair 6 and a little later down the line either get a strix X570 E or F, was leaning towards the F cause i don't need WiFi but if the board is much better than i guess it's the route i will need to go and get the Strix E.

Asus says the x570-F is 12+2 powerstages and the x570-E is 12+4. So I expect the E version to just have a bigger Soc VRM as main difference. Buildzoid can clarify with a video of the X570-E ;)

@@Warhorse469 I don't think it is the Crosshair Hero he is talking about. When he is talking about the VRM design he mentions, that there is a board with exactly the same VRM layout but just with 2 extra SOCs which adds a lot of other features. That would apply to the X570-E, since it has a 12+4 layout. The Hero has a 14+2 layout so it uses a completely different VRM design.

Got it for a good price and was not hugely more than some inferior boards I looked at. It's cheap compared to some higher end boards. So long as it has the power delivery and stability I need I will be on to a winner. I struggle to agree with the points made in the video, although I haven't built my system yet. We will see.

I bought this board today at MicroCenter in Texas, USA, and the total price was nearly $ 304. It had all the features, I wanted. Things that would have been nice to have were on more expensive boards. My current computer is a 6 year old ASUS with Intel i5-3470, with DDR3. I hope to build a Linux computer, and will be hoping everything works with my Linux distro. I already had a wi-fi card, so having wi-fi on the board is not a deal-breaker for me. I have found some wi-fi on motherboards do not work with
Linux or at not with my lame Linux skills. I can not afford to purchase fancy Nvme yet, nor fancy memory. I am hoping to salvage some memory I had from another computer that I am not using. I already have a very fancy air-cooler and an SSD and a power-supply and case, so all I need to do is find the money for the CPU. I will hopefully be patient and wait for a Ryzen 9, because I play a lot of FreeCell.
Also it was my birthday, and one of the only X570s left on the shelf and the last X570-F Gaming. And there were few X550s.

I got this board at Micro Center as an open box (discount) then $30 off with a cpu for a total of 201 before tax. Does that make this board more in line? They had the TUF for $189 and the x570-E was $329 so I felt that was too high. I was going to buy a Asus b450-f gaming but the guy said I’d never get 3600 MHz to work in that. I know there were other boards you have reviewed better but I wanted the asus to match the RGB of my other stuff

Aight so I've got this board since launch, got the -F over the -E because at the time I believed the latter only had wifi over the first and the price gap was steeper but before I go over my experience I gotta say those cellphone interferences across the video were painful (and you need to drink more water lel).
Aight now to the meat, I had a 3600 sitting on it originally, crappy silicon lottery that barely managed to hit advertised PBO frequency but memory OC was a breeze with my G.Skill TridentZ 3200C14 kit easily reaching 3600C14 (fast preset in 1usmus DRAM calc) which gave it quite a boost in FPS compared to XMP.
I upgraded a couple weeks ago to the amazing 5600X which despite being advertised to boost to 4.6 Ghz manages to go o 4.85 Ghz thanx to negative curve optimiser even under stress on air cooling. That said my RAM won't do 3600C14 anymore (and doesn't even boot on XMP, had to remove one stick to get to windows and recalculate timings with latest dram calc to fix it), broke my OS trying until I settled for 3733C16 which honestly doesn't even matter because between 3200C14 and 3733C16 I get the same results ingame (although slightly better scores in synthetic benchmarks), worth noting that ingame the 5600X is a beast compared to the 3600 and I got improvements way beyond my hopes as I didn't think my RTX2060 Super would be held back but it was. (From 150 FPS average to 240 FPS in my reference game at 1080p!).
This motherboard does have a major design flaw : the chipset fan sits right below the GPU if you install it in top slot which results in very diminished airflow, temps look fine (never beyond 50°C even during AVX2 stress) but it still bugs me. Another flaw is that the IO shield RGB color doesn't match other devices like RAM or fans, it's especially blatant with orange looking greenish on the IO shield somehow when other devices look fine.
Still learned a few interesting things here and I'll be more considerate when buying my next mobo

@@jamesthomson8659 the cheapest Gigabyte board is $170 with a VRM slightly worse than this. The cheapest MSI according to price leaks from other countries should come in at $190-200 and also is worse. MSI might have an even lower model, but that's not going to be better. Then there is just Asrock's pro4 who also doesn't look to be cheaper than $170 (leaks from other countries show $170 for the matx maybe) while also only having only a 2x4 phase.

@@eugkra33 I'll wait till I see the prices on all the boards for real. All this secrecy around the pricing of the motherboards is ridiculous. My take is that all the X570 boards so far have adequate VRM's .
Its going to be the other features and cost that will be the main factors in my decision. I'm probably just going to get a 3700X next week to upgrade the 1700 in my B350 and wait till Black Friday to get the MB and Ram.
