4:59 But the theca cells do not secrete estrogen. When LH stimulates theca cells to convert cholesterol to androgen, after that androgen converts to estrogen inside the granulosa cells !!!
I know of a male who is transitioning to female who is currently on estrogen transdermally. I can't find reliable information, but do you know if estrogen therapy (patches) causes an increase risk of prostate or any other cancer in men?
Great question! Interestingly, estrogen may help reduce prostate cancer. Here is a paper but do some more searches and make sure. You can search something like "estrogen effects on prostate cancer scholarly articles" and then you get research papers :) Here is one I found www.frontiersin.org/journals/oncology/articles/10.3389/fonc.2018.00002/full
Good question, but no, negative feedback is not a bad thing. It means the body is responding to changes appropriately. For example, if testosterone levels are low, then the hypothalamus tells the anterior pituitary to make more LH that will stimulate the Leydig cells to make more, bringing the testosterone levels back into balance. The same would happen if a hormone was too high, then less is produced and brings the levels back to normal. A positive feedback loop is when the response increases the initial situation, such as during the birthing process, the uterine contractions cause oxytocin to continue increasing the uterine contractions. So positive and negative feedback are both good and important in various situations. Hope that makes sense :)
Best explanation ever thank you so much mam. .... love from India 🇮🇳
Thank u ma'am..its easy to understand.👍
It's first explanation of this topic in my medical live I understood

Thank you. Anatomy is not my best subject
Great!!! Thx a lot!!!

Positive vs negative feed back does this mean trauma

I understand now. Thanks. These receptors can become damaged and misfire though due to trauma.
@@JordanSmith-fu1hn yes for sure, then homeostasis will be out of whack and the feedback loops won't be able to function properly.
