I'm here for the same reason! Now I'm wondering if you MUST install a new door or if you can just spackle and paint the walls. We sometimes have a wheelchair user in the house and we don't need a door as much as we need the extra inches from removing the jamb! But the internet doesn't seem to approve of my plans, the instructions I get are always for replacement never just removal.
I was looking for the part 2 of actually installing the door frame.. He makes it look easy besides destroying everything.. I have no experience and i need to remove all my bedroom doors, bathroom doors, and closet doors and install them too..
Im doing some bathroom work. My bathroom is attached to my main room. In order to increase space on both sides, I am going with a barn door. I wanted to know after I remove the door and door frame. What should I do next to make it look like a normal walkway? Im a beginner and this is a small project for this spring.
Very illustrative video! Sorry if this question sounds silly but I'm just wondering if could be any issue when removing the old door lining.. structural wise, collapse..? Thanks, Juan
Is there are a non-destructive way of doing this? I have a 100 year old home that I'm trying to restore while keeping as much of the original materials intact as I can. One of its problems is that there's not a single door in the entire house which is still square. I've already shimmed/bent the hinges back into place but - in many cases - the whole frame has gotten out of alignment.
I should've watched this before starting my removal. I'm not putting a door back up, can I use expanding foam in the frame before taping, mudding, primer & paint?
use a step stool, and take your time, you'll preserve more trim, the top piece went bad because you had to reach, the other side went bad, because you got frustrated,
Thanks for the video. I thought that you said something about using pine casing rather than composite. It was difficult to hear so I am not sure. Can you say more about that? I am planning on installing new doors in my house and I am faced with this decision soon.
You can eliminate the door and finish the rough frame opening by installing sheetrock on exposed wood areas, then install metal corner bead on all outside corners. Apply texture mud and paint.
Check for mold while you're at it. Happened to me and the mold made me extremely sick for many months. Had to get detoxed. Hopefully you have better result.
Not bad Joseph, -But please, cut down on the ums and awes a bit. ( shortens up the vid for us) -No need to saw back and forth when using your Sawzall. It does that for ya Joe. 😉 oh yea, get a new metal cutting blade Joe. - No need to see every nail banged in or make us wait while you do both sides. -Safety glasses are not only cool, but they're smart to use. Thank Joe. - -
I do like your videos, however maybe a good idea to protect yourself with mask, eyewear and protect the customer's floor as well. Mold could be present, in all that flying off wood. Just my suggestion. Thanks for videos.
I've got an interior door with a steel frame. I've removed all the trim but can't figure out what to do next. There are no obvious screws or nails holding it in. Any suggestions?
Worst sawzall you get in their multi tool deal set. Don’t even know why they make it. Just get a regular sawzall and you won’t be struggling with 18gauge nails 😂
Your video really helped me with replacing a whole door and frame for the first time
How long does it take you to install one since it was your first time?
@@jamestrads497 less than an hour. I got lucky because I bought a pre framed door that was a perfect fit
How much money do you think you saved doing this yourself?
This was such a great video! I need to know how to install a door. Well they're be a part 2??? 🙏
To this day he still does not have his door frame back on
Did you do another video showing how to fit a new one? Thank you.
Great video. Needing to do this on 3 interior doors👍
There are countless vids on how to remove the trim on YT, but none for the entire frame. As such, thank you very much for the demonstration!!

Thanks so much! Exactly what I was looking for!!

I was looking for part 2 video!

Do you need a sawzall, or can you just pry out the frame?
Thanks for this. Video is 5 years old but did you ever record how to install the frame/trim?
Very illustrative video! Sorry if this question sounds silly but I'm just wondering if could be any issue when removing the old door lining.. structural wise, collapse..?
Thanks,
Juan
The door frame was put in after the house was built. It definitely should not be supporting anything.
Thought that recip saw looked neat until you tried to use it.

Great video. Do you score both sides

If only my trim came out that easy! My house was built in 1924 and it's definitely hard to work on.
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge...Great video
Your welcome! I love to teach!
Do you have a install video too?
Thank you, that was exactly the information I’ve been needing.
Is it possible to remove the jamb by taking the trim off only one side?
use a step stool, and take your time, you'll preserve more trim, the top piece went bad because you had to reach, the other side went bad, because you got frustrated,
I was thinking the same thing
Great video!
Very well done, sir!
That was so cool u made that look way too easy.
Is this the same process to replace my frame and door in my backyard access on the house ?
Any chance of doing Part 3, installing a door?
Any video on how to install a door frame?
“I’m going to show you how to do this so you don’t damage any trim” ....proceeds to destroy everything

is the process the same for homes with plaster walls (no lathe)
Thanks for the video. I thought that you said something about using pine casing rather than composite. It was difficult to hear so I am not sure. Can you say more about that? I am planning on installing new doors in my house and I am faced with this decision soon.
Did you ever install replacement for this
My wall is concrete. Can this method work?
Ahhh...the sawsall!! of course! Thanks!
Great video! Thank you for posting this! God bless!
Couldn't fit the new door after that?
I always use corded sawzalls, the battery operated ones aint it
Good info. So what if he got rid if the frame..needed to know how to do it.

Umm... ahhh.... ahhh... ummm....
Greatest advice ever given.
At what point was it the...”This dam thing won’t do what I want and I need to destroy everything.”
Looks like part 2 never came :( But very helpful for removal!
I needed this. My bathroom frame has water damage from the toilet Bursting and wont close the door anymore 😅
Check for mold while you're at it. Happened to me and the mold made me extremely sick for many months. Had to get detoxed. Hopefully you have better result.
Thanks exactly to the dam 👉 point💯💯

What happened to the install vid😮😮😮
What brand of saw are you using
Raquel GeekSquad Milwaukee m12
I'm no door installation expert but I think a cut off wheel on a grinder or a pneumatic one would work better than that sawzall
I had to that for my desk to fit into my office room. We used a crow bar and boy did it really mess things up.
it might've been easier to disassemble the desk instead
Somebody buy this guy a new Sawzall
He forgot to scream "snakes on the ground" after throwing that trim off into that room......is that correct protocall? lol
Great video. Thank you
Thank you for this video.
The install??
Good video. Eye protection.
I don't think I'd hire this guy
2:24 "It just pops right off..."
Where is part 2??????

Wait, can I not do this without a saw??
You don’t need a saw :)
Can’t believe I use sleep with this guy , until this day his wife doesn’t know
Sounds like Simon & Garfunkle Bridge over Troubled Water with all that echo.....Jeez
Nice video
Good video, just missing safety glasses 😬😬😬
An Older Dwelling.
Fast removed in the door frame
Damn rough enough??
12v is clearly not doing such a good job..
But good video though thanks.
It would help if you used a REAL sawzall
New Sub here. I’m four years late but I made it. 😅
Thank you.
Based on this video, I can do this project.
Could you come do mines lol
No safety glasses
Okay, okay! You are certainly right! Im being a Very poor example. I should have those safety glasses on😕

your going to saw nails without eye protection right in front of my OSHA hand book!?
thanks , me too!
You brought the wrong tool, that's a SawsSome not a SawsAll 😂
Heck naw I will pay someone to do it . I was all for it till he got that cutting machine.
Not wearing safety glasses? Doesn’t matter how long you have done this. Safety first folks.
Was about to post the same thing. One flying splinter away from being known as "Ol' One Eye."
Hell nah that’s not how you do it and he knows it 🤣
Thx
Thanks husband is going to flip frame/door so this should speed up the process🎚🇺🇸💰💪😎
Why is he speaking to the floor?
Not good for UK.. They putting nails in size of Jezus crucifixion 😂😂
I was just going to ask about safety glasses too! Scary to watch!
What about a 70 year old house? I don't think It will go that easy💩👍
