    Beautiful TL man! It’s rare to see a Type S with the gold package. Most of the ones I’ve seen have regular badges. Props to you for really taking good care of it!

    Got my 2002 Acura TL type S
    Pre certified 2003
    Dealer replaced transmission when it had 60k miles
    And recently replaced it again
    At 220k miles
    Replaced radiator and rack and pinion
    Thats it! It still drives like it was 2003
    Over all a GREAT and RELIABLE car! Never stranded me in middle of the road
    I will retire hopefully with my TL
    In 15 yrs. I believe this car can make ❤
    Just kept it well maintained

      Pro tip from someone with 398,xxx miles on the original transmission of an 06’ base TL: Always use the parking brake when parking, virtually nobody uses it when parking which causes by far the most damage.

    The gold badging is straight pimpin. Fact, that was a hand painted on dealer accessory you could add. I was an Acura tech and one of the old heads had a little bottle of gold treatment for emblems.

    Ppl might say it's a 20 year old vehicle it's not worth 4,700.. trust me it is.. they're amazing vehicles.. if you got one with a good trans, and this one seems to have a good one, you'll have one hell of a vehicle.. 4700 and its worth every penny.. super clean car

      @druggedunicorn5340 Congrats, dude... I'm sure you'll love it.. go easy on the trans because as good as that 3.2L vtech is, the trans is definitely the weak link on this era Acura

      @johncollins....Yes, you are correct ...Let people think it's no good. I got my 2002 with 48k miles in 2003. First car I bought & paid for myself (paid $18k). Got me through college and still my back up in 2024. Took mine to AMCO, to overhaul transmission. Opted for heavy duty clutch packs. Overhauled transmission came with warranty. I let it sit in my driveway for 2 years uncovered. Very dumb. It cranked up and ran fine. Other than the transmission fail...Mr. Honda did one helluva job on durability for the rest of the car. I have never had to replace the alternator, nor starter, or anything else, except battery and transmission. 250k miles. It has never left me on the side of the road. It still handles corners and turns like the day I first got it. I changed the engine oil with Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic every 5k since 2003. It's now 2024, and the engine still runs as quiet and smooth as it did in 2003. I swear the 3.2 v6 in the car is bullet proof. I bet if ran as an engine for generator, it would run almost forever. My newer model Silverado LTZ 4x4 5.3V-8 doesn't even run as smooth as my 2002 Acura. (talking about engine & ride comfort). Will never sell it. SO let others think its a piece of junk. lol

    Thing is super clean. The question that anyone that knows anything about these is wondering though, when was the transmission rebuild/overhaul to prevent another failure done? Unfortunately the auto trannie's in these things break, almost with 100% certainty somewhere around the mileage that you bought it at. The factory extended warranty to avoid a class action lawsuit is 109,000 I think. Thats a super clean example though. I used to have one in the Aegean blue, no ground effects kit, black leather interior. These days I have a 2006 TL 6 speed.

    I own the JDM version, a 2001 Honda Inspire. Used to have a J25, then I swapped in a J32A2, currently it's running a stroked J32 with J35 crank and rods and all of the bolt ons (and it is a properly fast car, with acceleration on par with the 340 horsepower version of the Porsche Macan, and quicker than an F10 535i BMW). I love the thing, I've owned it for seven years, driven it 200 thousand kilometers, I have no intention of selling it, however - the transmission issues have driven me insane over the years. I think I'm on my sixth transmission at this point, or something like that (I even tried the 6-speed manual from the next generation, hoping it would be bulletproof, but even it was a headache). Overall it is a fantastic car, it sounds great, looks very nice, handles terrifically, it's quick for what it is, but the transmission is the Achilles heel. I'm willing to put up with it, but not everybody will be.

    • @RodderFiles
      @RodderFiles  10 месяцев назад

      That sounds awesome where you at I'd love to go for a ride in that, I bet it's like a rocket, did you lower it? And what problems did u have with the manual?

    • @SwapBlogRU
      @SwapBlogRU 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@RodderFiles I'm based in Moscow, Russia, so that wouldn't work, unfortunately...( As for the manual - there were a bunch of problems. I experienced some of the common issues such as the third gear crunch, also the dual mass flywheels are just bad. The damper can get loose on them, meaning the two halves wobble badly relative to each other, and in certain conditions (such as when you smash the gas after aggressive engine braking) you can sheer the inner splines off the friction disc. Before I put the gearbox into my Inspire - I ran it for a number of years in a J-swapped Prelude, and the spline sheering thing happened to me three times. The flywheel was bought new, I think it was made by Sachs. Other issues were down to my own stupidity (my shop couldn't get the reverse lockout solenoid to work, and I went for reverse instead of sixth once, it didn't destroy the gearbox, but it did some damage), but the straw that broke the camels back appears to have been plain bad luck. It was pretty ironic actually. I was driving to pick my buddy up from the airport, he was coming to visit from the USA and he was bringing parts in his luggage for my transmission (which you simply cannot buy in Russia). On the way there we were racing with another buddy who owns a 1UZ swapped Dodge Magnum, and when rolling up to the airport I noticed that the gearbox was making a nasty knocking sound in second. That later turned out to be second gear losing a few teeth. I swapped back to an automatic after that. This is sort of the short version of the story, there's way more to it, but I don't want to bore you. In short - this box caused me massive headaches for two months prior to me getting fed up and deciding to get rid of it.
