On balance he’s probably better than pope, certainly with his feet, but he never was or will be a top keeper, ironic that we had sels whose having a great season at forest and we didn’t persevere with him, I think Rafa much as I love him was too hasty with that one. Never should’ve bought pope, distribution gash, and basic shot stopping abilities aside, which all keepers have really, he’s got very little
@ I probably would but like you’ve said a number of times we missed a trick with Mamardashvili. I d actually taker kelleher from Liverpool although he was gash against us he’s been solid all season. He will want to be a 1st team regular which I doubt he will be once Mamardashvili is there

I think it’s the problem, years ago you’d be in the pub and you’d hear the tone of someone’s voice and I can go back and forth between lots of emotions, things can look brutal in - no pun - black n white. Suffice to say, I love this club, and I think I probably was boundless optimism until that 95/96 season, then all the false dawns in the decade after, and then by our first demotion I just became ultra cynical, thinking it’ll now never happen. I’m the man who thought we’d cracked it when dalglish came in, we had the man who’d just won the title at Blackburn, the best centre forward in the world, this incredible team, all we needed was a centre half and probably a better left back and we couldn’t fail to win not a title but titles. What happened next just did for me. And then this takeover, again allowed myself to get suckered in, to believe again, my instinct told me Howe was the wrong guy and some of the signings were dodgy but gave him the benefit, and here we are, and I absolutely KNOW now he isn’t the guy, and it’s maddening to have to waste yet another season finding out. Cancer runs through our family like wild fire and I’ve lost so many people to it, and I’ve had one brush and just survived ten years ago, and I know it’ll comeback one day, and that’s a long way of saying, you know what, can I please just see my team win something, any fucking thing, please? So if I’m grumpy, well there you go, some context. But listen George, I always agree with your takes, firm but fair 😊

Where as with Howe I never thought he was the right choice and questioned some of the transfers from the word go, particularly pope. I nearly died of cancer ten years ago and beat the odds to still be here, all I want is to see my team win something, anything. If I’m impatient I’m past apologising, which is why the Howe cult and calls to ‘give him the season’ drive me mad. But there you go. 😂
