Off the top of my head: Hazard, Yaya Touré, Owen, Campbell, Fowler, Sheringham and Le Tissier. Probably not all in equal measure bit that's what I could come up with in a couple minutes.
That entire '95 Blackburn team that Shearer played in, should still be making gratuity payments to that Palace fan that Cantona did the Kung-Fu kick on.
This video hits on the disconnect caused by the PL only being formed in 1992 and forgoing all of the legends and history tied to the old first division. The hall of fame would’ve been more legitimate if it included the old first division. And got players like Bobby Charlton or even someone from the Victorian era. US/Canadian sport hall of fames started much earlier, but also are not league specific. Baseball has people from all different leagues. Same with Hockey and Football.
In the spirit of Ryuzaki Day 7 of asking for an in-depth video on Bodø/Glimt, who just recently became champions for the 4th time in 5 years, and who only got promoted back to Eliteserien as recently as 2017 This is one heck of a gold mine, Alfie. Make this video happen 😘 🇳🇴
Please do a vid on the 7 biggest teams that flopped. Teams that were expected to dominate and yet completely and utterly failed. I think of the galacticos and psg when I imagine this.
Please do these videos about "What on Earth is Going On???": 1.Manchester City (They only won 1 in the last 11 games, even losing 8 of them). 2.Roma (Had 3 managers in just first half of this season and are possibility threatened with relegation due to the unexpected Serie A race). 3.Valencia (Last place in La Liga table this season, despite still had to play against Real Madrid, which will be scheduled during the New Year after it was postponed. What a shocking downfall for such a great Spanish club that won 2 La Liga titles this century and played in 2 Champions League Finals).
Anyone with half a brain can figure out what's going on at Man City; 1- They've done a poor job the last few years replenishing their midfield and now with Rodri injured they are left with players past their primes or not good enough. So they can no longer control games and create lots of chances. 2- Pep has only ever played one way and apparently even though his current players cannot do it successfully he is unwilling to change.
@shiorisaitou4846 Of course, don't rule out the third one: the 115 FFP breaches and a provisional relegation with massive point deduction 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
In my opinion Ashley Cole should be much higher. He’s probably one of the few players on this who you could argue was the best player in his position at the time
John Terry is RIGHT footed. 18:27 Not sure if Alfie was trying to compliment JT's weak foot or if he just didn't know and made a mistake. JT did predominantly play on the left side of a CB pair and he was indeed good with his left foot, although he was NOT left footed.
Great list, here’s mine: 22. Wright 21. Adams 20. Kompany 19. Beckham 18. Drogba 17. Andy Cole 16. Ashley Cole 15. Cech 14. Cantona 13. Schmeichel 12. Ferdinand 11. Terry 10. Gerrard(I’m a liverpool fan and this hurts but based on pl only he ain’t any higher) 9. Lampard 8. Aguero 7. Vieira 6. Shearer 5. Keane (agree that he’s underrated af, best football iq in Prem history) 4. Bergkamp (wait I take it back, this man may have the best football iq in Prem history, he definitely had the most technique at least) 3. Scholes 2. Rooney 1. Henry
Agree fully with your list, Alfie. For reason's you explain well. Keane was arguably the best player in the world for several years (as in the player that contributed the most to their team consistently winning at the highest level) , only eclipsed in the eyes of many by Zidane, because of the latter's unbelievably good performances in international tournaments.
Video idea: Seven footballers who are underrated because of one thing they did during a game. I must admit, that I was surprised by the ranking of Roy Keane and the reason is mostly what he did to Haaland senior. When Alfie mentioned him I had to remind myself: "Right, he was not only an evil and sadistic criminal, but also a great player." Similarly I was surprised when he said Cantona was a very professional player, I had assumed the exact opposite, because of the one scene he mentioned. Another name that comes to mind is Frank Rijkaard who at least in Germany is mostly remembered as the guy who spat at Völler. But I am sure, Alfie might come up with some names I did not even think of.
I dont know how to title this video idea but can you make the 7 best “22 players on the pitch at the same time” or in my stupid idea the tile should be “best worst player on a pitch” say If prime barcelona played madrid for example there might’ve been a time where tje worse player was like keylor navas which was still great:
Can't remember if the normal Hall of Fame is still going but just hate that the Premier League ignores the history of English Football in general and like you mentioned, pretends it only came into creation in 1992 and not a whole 100+ years before hand. So many talented players ignored because they didn't play in the Premier League...
Great video Alfie! Now I would just love to see you do the same with the German HOF. I know you will have a lot of researching to do and a lot of angry Germans in the comments regardless, but I know it would be a good listen nonetheless 😃
I didn't even see anywhere this year that people got added to the PL hall of fame. That's how much people care, that the social media algorithms didn't even highlight it to me when I mainly follow PL football content.
Aguero is one of my favourite ever opposition players, but what was peculiar was he never scored against us at Anfield in his career, despite facing a centre back combination featuring the likes of Skrtel, Lovren, Kolo Toure or Sakho.
I just have a feeling that Louis Suarez is not going to make the cut which renders the whole thing irrelevant. His stay in England was cut short by the creation of a ‘hostile environment’ when he was stitched up by the FA (read the 52-page report if you doubt it. The stitch up occurs in the early pages)
Ferdinand over Terry, Schmeikel over Cech, Scholes over Lampard. As a Chelsea fan, I absolutely love how much you "definitely don't hate" my club. I realise that sounds sarcastic, but I'm being sincere - it genuinely tickles me.
at least you're not calling him out for "having an agenda" like so many other people do these days with YT channels who dare to criticize their club lol. I think your take is legitimate and respectful. We all have biases
I agree that the first one is wrong, but the other two are justified imo and I think he’s given great reasonings, especially for the Schmeichel one. United didn’t fully had a solid defensive structure in the earliest days and Schmeichel had to be tested way more than cech was
I would be interested in top 7 most impressive comebacks of players after being out of contract and not finding something to stay professional. In my country, there are some sorts of camps where out of jobs managers and sidelined players keep themselves fit in hope for an opportunity. Top 7 could be fun
Fair play Alfie. Fair play 😂. You’re one football fan that can argue any opinion very well. Not mad at a single placing because it was justified. ESPECIALLY the Scholes over Gerrard and Lampard. That one made my day 😂
Please do a video ranking the most successful Senior Managers with the least Senior Managerial experience and greatest most effective position changes of all time
Bergkamp was prolific for Holland and Ajax but if you look at Arsenal, Overmas was basically playing how the wingers/inside forwards do now. That can't happen in a 4-4-2. Bergkamp was basically playing as a playmaker not a striker.
#thepeopleschannel a video on the Bangladesh premier league and the rise of Bashundhara kings would be good A team who went into the top flight after promotion and won the last Six league titles now! Are they the next fc Bayern? Are they a team to keep a eye on next few years? Thanks Alfie 😊
Just FYI in the US sports world, the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Basketball Hall of Fame are considered a joke to a degree because the barrier to entry if far far far lower when compared to the Baseball Hall of Fame which started the who sporting Hall of Fame thing in the first place being a much older sport and all. The Baseball Hall of Fame has such high standards that there were multiple years where nobody was inducted during the mid-2010s despite arguably the best hitter and best pitcher of all time both being on the ballot. The reason is because the voters (who are all journalists) were reeling from the massive steroids scandal that rocked the sport which Bonds and Clemens were deeply implication in, on top of both of them being prickly characters which certainly wasn't appreciated by said journalists who are responsible for the vote. Also P.S: Get Freddy Adu in the Premier League Hall of Fame he's a legend of the game.
The baseball HoF has a lot of dodgy players inducted by the Veteran's Committees (c.f. Harold Baines) as well as players who got left out because the baseball writers didn't like them personally, but I would agree that historically it has a bit higher standards than the other two you mentioned.
Good list. The HOF might not be what they thought it would but your video shows they have at least celebrated the right people (other than Giggs). I would imagine Ian Ashbee is a cert for the next induction.
Its really missing things that make the NFL HOF special. The "door knock" where the commissioner of the selection committee has a 1-1 talk and with the inductee and is being thanked, not for their playing career but there influence in the teams they played for and how they played the game. These conversations are very heartfelt, giving the impression that it was more than just trophies. The gold Jackets which is wearable and is used as reference for present players to be a great player sometimes being more valuable than a Super Bowl ring. This HOF looks so plastered on and generic. We dont even know the process of how they're chosen. In the NFL its done democratically with Votes and people debating their case for individual players.
I think you need to show the Premier League more respect Alfie. After all if they didn't invent football in 1992 you wouldn't even have a sport to talk about.
The reason why the premier league hall of fame flopped was because there was no history behind it as opposed to the American sports. Give it 30 years time and people will respect it, there will always be a teething period when a new concept is introduced to a league’s annuals
Huge respect for you and I'm sure it wasn't an easy list to make but, scholes ahead of both Gerrard and lampard is insanity. He was never close to the player that Gerrard and lampard were and wasn't as important as man united fans will lead you to believe, honestly anytime scholes is mentioned in the Gerrard/lampard debate I genuinely feel like they're just upset over a united player not being talked about as one of the best midfielders of that time despite being the best team of that period. Just because united were successful doesn't make him a better player
I have to agree. Scholes was fantastic, but I believe there has been a significant amount of revisionist history about his career. He was always great, but never among the best of the best midfielders in the world at any point.
No Hall of Fame is ever going to catch on without a physical building to visit, like fans of NFL players make a trip to Ohio for their induction every year but I never see any interest in something like the ICC Hall of Fame cor cricket, even though it's still seen as a huge honour to be included
I mean, basically nobody even knows the prem one exists. It's just a random bad marketing stunt. It's completely irrelevant. Of course others are going to be better
There's only one current PL player I can see eventually making it into the PL hall of fame, he's currently 8th in the all time PL top scorers (5 goals behind Henry at time of writing), and 11th all time PL top assister (2 assists behind Beckham). Can you guess who it is?
I mean there's obviously not ONLY one who could make it... Salah VVD & KDB will very likely all make it for sure. Then you have many others who could be in with a shout too, by the time they're done
It's a complete load of Americanisation. The fact that Ryan Giggs got passed over proves it's not a football players Hall of Fame it's more like a Hall of Fame for some people who played football good and especially didn't have any off field troubles. Also it's very subjective, I should have a defined set of stat's so the general public all know why a player gets inducted.
Alfie please upload these videos to Spotify as podcasts, I’d imagine most people listen to them as such anyway and being able to queue them up as I fall asleep would be incredible

Day 12 of asking Alfie to make another "Sorry, we need to talk about Hull City" video
By day 30 you will get your wish 😅
There's only one current PL player I can see eventually making it into the PL hall of fame, he's currently 8th in the all time PL top scorers (5 goals behind Henry at time of writing), and 11th all time PL top assister (2 assists behind Beckham). Can you guess who it is?
I mean there's obviously not ONLY one who could make it...
Salah VVD & KDB will very likely all make it for sure. Then you have many others who could be in with a shout too, by the time they're done
When is Gerrard coming?
Agree more with the list at the end than the actual list
It's a complete load of Americanisation. The fact that Ryan Giggs got passed over proves it's not a football players Hall of Fame it's more like a Hall of Fame for some people who played football good and especially didn't have any off field troubles. Also it's very subjective, I should have a defined set of stat's so the general public all know why a player gets inducted.
oh cause rooney, john terry and ashley cole never have any off field troubles? lol i forgot they were perfect angels.
football by nature is subjective
Wayne Rooney! Remember that name! Great video
Ghana's downfall 🙏🏽 especially now that they're out of the AFCON(Day 23)
