Please do a vid on the 7 biggest teams that flopped. Teams that were expected to dominate and yet completely and utterly failed. I think of the galacticos and psg when I imagine this.
John Terry is RIGHT footed. 18:27 Not sure if Alfie was trying to compliment JT's weak foot or if he just didn't know and made a mistake. JT did predominantly play on the left side of a CB pair and he was indeed good with his left foot, although he was NOT left footed.
I dont know how to title this video idea but can you make the 7 best “22 players on the pitch at the same time” or in my stupid idea the tile should be “best worst player on a pitch” say If prime barcelona played madrid for example there might’ve been a time where tje worse player was like keylor navas which was still great:
Agree fully with your list, Alfie. For reason's you explain well. Keane was arguably the best player in the world for several years (as in the player that contributed the most to their team consistently winning at the highest level) , only eclipsed in the eyes of many by Zidane, because of the latter's unbelievably good performances in international tournaments.
This video hits on the disconnect caused by the PL only being formed in 1992 and forgoing all of the legends and history tied to the old first division. The hall of fame would’ve been more legitimate if it included the old first division. And got players like Bobby Charlton or even someone from the Victorian era. US/Canadian sport hall of fames started much earlier, but also are not league specific. Baseball has people from all different leagues. Same with Hockey and Football.
The English centre mid trio discussion has cooled somewhat, with people willing to concede on certain things now, a decade on from their retirements, Lampard was the best scorer, Scholes was the best anchor (despite being weak defensively) and Gerrard was the best all round. What's interesting is that both Scholes and Lampard have since conceded that Gerrard was better than them.
That entire '95 Blackburn team that Shearer played in, should still be making gratuity payments to that Palace fan that Cantona did the Kung-Fu kick on.
Can't remember if the normal Hall of Fame is still going but just hate that the Premier League ignores the history of English Football in general and like you mentioned, pretends it only came into creation in 1992 and not a whole 100+ years before hand. So many talented players ignored because they didn't play in the Premier League...
In my opinion Ashley Cole should be much higher. He’s probably one of the few players on this who you could argue was the best player in his position at the time
The bizzare thing about Andy Cole and his International Career is that Ian Wright's record for the Three Lions isn't that impressive either. Yet that is never held against him (& rightly so). Same goes for Rooney as well.
Aguero is one of my favourite ever opposition players, but what was peculiar was he never scored against us at Anfield in his career, despite facing a centre back combination featuring the likes of Skrtel, Lovren, Kolo Toure or Sakho.
I didn't even see anywhere this year that people got added to the PL hall of fame. That's how much people care, that the social media algorithms didn't even highlight it to me when I mainly follow PL football content.
Video idea based on a comment in this video - 7 footballers who performed best in finals Drogba seems like an obvious choice but some people do forget (or never noticed) that he had 2 awful AFCON finals so that may push him down the list. Im curious who'd come out on top.
No Hall of Fame is ever going to catch on without a physical building to visit, like fans of NFL players make a trip to Ohio for their induction every year but I never see any interest in something like the ICC Hall of Fame cor cricket, even though it's still seen as a huge honour to be included
It's a complete load of Americanisation. The fact that Ryan Giggs got passed over proves it's not a football players Hall of Fame it's more like a Hall of Fame for some people who played football good and especially didn't have any off field troubles. Also it's very subjective, I should have a defined set of stat's so the general public all know why a player gets inducted.
In the spirit of Ryuzaki Day 7 of asking for an in-depth video on Bodø/Glimt, who just recently became champions for the 4th time in 5 years, and who only got promoted back to Eliteserien as recently as 2017 This is one heck of a gold mine, Alfie. Make this video happen 😘 🇳🇴

There's only one current PL player I can see eventually making it into the PL hall of fame, he's currently 8th in the all time PL top scorers (5 goals behind Henry at time of writing), and 11th all time PL top assister (2 assists behind Beckham). Can you guess who it is?
I mean there's obviously not ONLY one who could make it... Salah VVD & KDB will very likely all make it for sure. Then you have many others who could be in with a shout too, by the time they're done
John Terry, TOP 5… Greatest center back in the history of the Prem and I’d go as far as to put him top 5 CB’s ever. He’s underrated. Greatest CB in the history of the Prem ISN’T good enough.
Huge respect for you and I'm sure it wasn't an easy list to make but, scholes ahead of both Gerrard and lampard is insanity. He was never close to the player that Gerrard and lampard were and wasn't as important as man united fans will lead you to believe, honestly anytime scholes is mentioned in the Gerrard/lampard debate I genuinely feel like they're just upset over a united player not being talked about as one of the best midfielders of that time despite being the best team of that period. Just because united were successful doesn't make him a better player
I have to agree. Scholes was fantastic, but I believe there has been a significant amount of revisionist history about his career. He was always great, but never among the best of the best midfielders in the world at any point.
Nah, Alfie, the disrespect towards Čech and goalkeepers overall is too much, they are extremely talented and especially Čech should be much more valued by you
Yeah, he often says that he doesn't really view keepers as footballers and that they're not particularly good at football. I think it's a bit nonsenical. It lines up with his opinion that the best footballers are attackers tho. He seems to feel that peak football is played by forwards such as Henry (he's said multiple times that being a great forward is more difficult than being good at other positions), or gifted number 10s. But wingers need pace, midfielders vision, defenders physicality, keepers reflexes etc. It's a different skillset from forwards, but that doesn't make them "worse at football" I feel. Just because they're less flairful and don't score that many goals, doesn't mean players in other positions aren't as good.
#thepeopleschannel a video on Clapton cfc 😅 Clapton Community fc💁♀️ How they are fan owned and they now own the oldest ground in London.😮 A team formed in 2018. Six years ago.😊
There's a bunch that I'm sure will be prime candidates once they retire in the next few years: Salah, Vardy, de Bruyne, probably Kane and Son. Wouldn't surprise me to see Cristiano Ronaldo get in via the fan vote either.
I am sorry I just don't get Henry at one. He only ever won two titles with an Arsenal team who only ever had two competitors for the title (Man Utd and Chelsea). Also the fact Arsenal had already won the title in 98 and missed out by one point in 99 proves that he wasn't as influential as Cantona whose presence at Old Trafford produced Uniteds first title in 26 years. Obviously a flair player who scored loads of goals, but he probably wasn't even the best Arsenal player (Vieira) in the Premier League era.
is it me or is shearer a bit of a boring player like u see it at the end of the season "oh wow shearer has 32 goals" but u can never remember them. can u remember a single shearer goal ? but try bergkamp...u can see the goal i remember a bergkamp goal.

The problem was calling it the Hall of "FAME"... far too American. It's like Sports "Personality" of the Year... that's not about achievcement its about fame... Beckham should have won that for about 7 years running... Needs renaming to make it sound less like its a copy of a wanky US way of rewarding popularity. Give them "Outstanding Achievement" awards... and make the categories fun "Outstanding Achievement in What do you mean, you... don't do planes???" goes to Dennis Bergkamp... "The BUPA special award goes to... Darren Anderton" and so on. They do meet the requirements in terms of longevity, but I think in terms of outright performance and prestige, there are still a lot of players ahead of them in the queue, and plenty more on the verge of retiring and becoming eligible. I'd personally select Mark Schwarzer (for his even greater longevity and *technically* winning two Premier League titles) and Brad Friedel (for his consecutive appearance record) ahead of Jaaskelainen, for example.

Those Ferdinand and Terry photos are downright diabolical

Number one - Eric Cantona
The French ones first for obvious reasons
John Terry would defo be top of that list

In my opinion Ashley Cole should be much higher. He’s probably one of the few players on this who you could argue was the best player in his position at the time
You should've mentioned that Andy Cole's incredible goal record in the PL includes just 1 penalty.
Just wanted to salute your courage in your placement of Keane. Cannot argue with your logic
The bizzare thing about Andy Cole and his International Career is that Ian Wright's record for the Three Lions isn't that impressive either. Yet that is never held against him (& rightly so).
Same goes for Rooney as well.
I don’t understand why Scmichel and Cech are still placed so far apart on this list?
Aguero is one of my favourite ever opposition players, but what was peculiar was he never scored against us at Anfield in his career, despite facing a centre back combination featuring the likes of Skrtel, Lovren, Kolo Toure or Sakho.

2:50 to be honest, I just don't question Alfie on football. I trust his opinion nearly all the time... Maybe blindly...
