The diamond in the jukebox recipe is actually supposed to represent the needle on a record player, which are often made from diamond.
POV: you just used a cubic meter's worth of diamond for a needle

@friedfrozenwaffles you can combine 9 diamonds in a crafting table to make a diamond block. Since a block is supposed to represent a cubic meter, that would mean that 1 diamond represents 1/9th of a cubic meter

I think the cacophony zedvancement isn't truly complete unless you listen to all the discs to completion.
The Cacophony sounds so good, it sounds the best when it's turned off XD.
20:41 There is a way to make it less scary. Piglins don't get angry when you interact with hoppers. Meaning you can place a hopper under a chest and have it extract loot from the chest without making them angry.
Won't stop Brutes and Hoglins though... which are a large contributor to the scariness.
Most chests have gilded blackstone under them for that reason so this isn't very useful

Fun Fact: Record players in history used to use a diamond tip to read the record as it spins. I think the Edison record players had the diamond tip. never needs to be replaced... Probably why a diamond is needed for crafting a jukebox...
Modern day record players do as well. The quality of the sound, and the price of the needle cartridge, is directly related to how the diamond is cut and placed on the stylus.

When I raid bastions, I just kill all the piglins and then it's calm. Nobody can notice, if there is nobody to notice.

I recently raided my first bastions too, and that was my method too. Just snipe them from the ceiling. That's what those holes are for, right?

You should hook up the cacophony to pressure plates at the door of the shop so it plays whenever someone walks in :p
No you wanna hide the pressure plates around the shopping district in proximity to the shop so that people will accidentally trigger them while walking around making them enter the shop to turn it off

I don't know the numbers but the jukebox range is indeed pretty crazy. Tango's got something like 99.9% of Decked Out 2 covered for card announcements with synchronized activation of jukeboxes at two strategically placed locations. Scar has the morning and evening announcements at Scarland going off with a pair of jukebox stations some distance apart as well. (Although I don't think any calculations for optimal placement were done in Scar's case?)
Please have a chest full of Zed trophy so Hermits can get the Zedvancement when they listen to it. It can also be a good way of drawing people in, free Zedvancement!
Zedaph is the only one who can make me look forward to have my ears cry. Keep up the good work!

Your ability to systematically explain the red stone in this episode was amazing, and some of the best teaching of red stone mechanics I’ve ever watched. I’d love to watch a series of red stone tutorials from you!
You should challenge the hermits to see how many zedvancements they can earn. Some already have some, but can you imagine all the other hermits looking at your trophy collection and seeing how close they can get to you.
I feel your pain with bastion raiding. My brothers and I went to raid a bastion the other day (first time ever for them). The problem for use was the insane amount of zombie piglins running around everywhere. We couldn't defend ourselves against the piglins without hitting the zombie ones. And then they'd steal all our gear after they killed us. It didn't go well.
Isn't pigstep only in the bottom chest by all the gold? 😅 Oh well. A squealing zed is an entertaining zed! :D
no, it shows up in the generic loot table and will spawn in all types of bastions in most areas.
It can spawn anywhere but it’s most commonly found in either the bottom chests by the gold and lava and/or the top chests on the taller structure (it depends on which bastion you’re in)
Edit: If memory serves I believe the chests with guaranteed upgrade templates have the highest pigstep chance
@@austinestep8461 there is only one loot table with pigstep and it is the generic one, and it is not weighted, its not that hard to check the wiki before commenting.
Throughout the video I was wondering what would happen to the discs if no one pressed the button to turn it off. But after hearing that I don't think that's gonna be a problem
The funniest thing is I have actually put netherite trims on leather armor, I did a leather armor only challenge that somehow lasted long enough for 1.20 to drop and I had some extra netherite since I wasn’t using it to make netherite armor. Definitely felt really weird.
The off-switch needs a record scratch custom disk (or 20) to play when everything abruptly stops!
Learherite armor actually can look pretty awesome. I have a red dyed set with netherite silence trim and it looks awesome.

How you do redstone is so interesting and fun to watch! The process of figuring out how to have redstone complete and automate a task is just really satisfying to watch :D
Honestly, Piglin bastions are alot scarier than ancient cities imo

i don't have issues with them, but i am one of the few who actually enjoys playing minecraft in the nether. it's end cities which i don't like, i am absolutely terrible at dealing with shulkers
@@ion0057I usually bring water buckets to swim down and negate the levitation and fall damage. makes end cities way less annoying.
Ancient Cities are worse. At least you can run in the nether without summoning more unkillable monsters.

A tip for bastion hunting: put hoppers under the chest so you don’t have to open the chest
The diamond in the juke box recipe is for the "needle" that is used to "read" the discs.

3:03 - Rather than using "coast" template for the "best worst gear" I think it should be the "silence" template. That design tends to be pretty well-liked I think and it's the rarest armor trim (1.2% chance of finding it in an ancient city chest).
Also it's a minor point but you should dye the leather. It's not that hard to get all the dyes but I think the rarest dyes would be brown and green.

I really appreciate Zed's redstone explanations. It's just perfectly explained so I understand. Straightforward lines. Just a bit more advanced than I'm at. I always pause my IRL to watch attentively. No background watching on Zed's videos.
How about dyeing the Best Worst Gear to make the netherite trim stand out? Something like light blue maybe?
Dear Zedaph, I (OnlyNeeded) hereby challenge you to the 1 hour world challenge. You play in a Minecraft world for 1 hour and at the end you see how much you’ve done in an hour time. There are just three rules: no creative, no cheats/cheating mods and you have to challenge at least two friends afterwards (they don’t have to accept, but at least you tried).
There is not really a point system so it’s more an experiment than an actual challenge… but oh well…
I totally get it if you don’t feel like doing this and I am really honored that you even read this far into my comment! (I know you did because…, that’s obvious isn’t it?)

every time zed uploads i am so so so thankful for the captioning on every video. its not a huge thing but makes it better than 90% of minecrafter youtube vids for me since im HoH. So Zed, thank you truly from the bottom of my heart for making your vids accessible. ive also rarely if ever seen any flashing which is ALSO an accessibility thing that im thankful for.

Best trick to raiding bastions (which I learned from Pixlriffs) is that piglins aren't immune to lava. Drown them in lava, even the Brutes go down quick, and the damage is considered environmental, so it isn't attributed to you. No agro!
Eg at 22:25 is a perfect place to dump a bucket...
One small tip for dealing with piglin bastions: bring a lava bucket. Killing piglins with lava won't anger other piglins (although brutes are always hostile) and can be done when you don't have good line of sight to the mob you're trying to get rid of. If you don't anger any piglins, then pillaring up a couple blocks will make you safe (provided that nothing can drop down on you from above) as brutes and hoglins don't use ranged attacks (and then you can just get rid of them with your handy dandy lava bucket).

Wow what an experience your shop will be! What about making it run at mid day, but only like a 5 percent chance, so people will be instantly wanting to catch it in the act and come by the shop :)
I think that this zedvancement is one of my favorite, just for the continued shenanigans it seems to bring
oh wow wow it was so satisfying seeing the process come together and seeing the minecart automatically trigger the droppers to put them back in AND the fact that it immediately takes and drops the disc is just so cool
my first time going bastion raiding was definitely super scary. i took it slow and lots of arrows from afar and now it's actually pretty fun now that the initial spook is over. they give good loot! they're quite the maze though haha. def recommend full armor, plenty of ender pearls and fire resistance haha

I just realised, for The Deathbed Zedvancement, you could fit an 11th death in there! Have an observer check string like usual above the bed, and get a high powered arrow to get one more! Might want to talk to Doc about getting that set up, because he might be able to get you some wither skulls too :p

Regarding how far you can hear the music - the music disc mod you have on the server now allows to modify how far the sound is heard (talk to Tango about this). This means...you can torment people 10000 blocks away. Or only in the shoppin district. Choose your flavour. xD

I think there might be a slight issue with the cacophony machine, if it plays all the way through, the minecarts don’t get sent off.
The discs don't auto-eject when they finish playing, do they? Won't they just wait in the jukebox? If they don't wait to be ejected, you make a good point. But if they do wait, that would mean that Zed's system can't break. There would be no difference in what the system is doing when the 2nd signal from the button cuts off the discs early compared to when the 2nd signal from the button flushes the system after the sounds have already run out their time.
That's the point of the "t flip-flop" part he was talking about with the redstone. It's a bit of redstone magic that means that the button will always alternate between two different functions. In this case those two functions are "activate machine" and "reset machine". No other logic comes into play beyond "which function was activated with the most recent button press? Now do the other one."
At any rate, I was thinking during this that the trophy logically ought to call for more of an endurance trial of putting up with the sound. "How long can you listen before turning it off?" instead of just getting full credit for hearing half a second of it. With it being okay to just hear a bit of it and bail, it's unlikely that someone would bother to let them play out all the way anyway. They can just click the button and think "yep, that's a lot of noise" and then immediately push the button again to stop it.
@@MuljoStpho that is a very good point, jukeboxes don’t auto eject, so it can be run manually. However part of the goal is to have it run at noon each day, and if someone hasn’t gone by to hit the button I don’t think it will play. It should be pretty easy to fix, just run the minecarts automatically from the system that starts the system at noon after all the disks are done playing.
I completely agree on the endurance part as well.

@@ca-ke9493 that almost works, but if someone already pressed it there would need to be a check to see if the button needs to be pressed. Otherwise there would be three button presses, resulting in the same problem as before. No minecart picking up the disks.
