On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-18-16.
We’re looking at the 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury GT in Alpine White Paint with a 440 CI Engine.
The car's Owner is Bill Hanzlik. Bill had the car since 1996. When a car company puts the name “Fury” and “Sport” and “GT” in the title you might thing you’re going a see a small little race car, however this is a large vehicle with a comfortable interior. When asked “Why thus car?” Bill shared he loves the stance of the front end.

When America built great cars
Hi Ed Wu, Nice ! :-) Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
haaha no. it's great to see these restored, but let's be honest, they were trash when they came off the assembly line.
Dan Barrett but they were good performing/controlling cars and if treated well they would last
Dan Barrett Regardless, they have far superior styling to modern American cars. You can actually tell their country of origin.
Omlord that is 1 sweet automobile , born 62 I had privilege of driving or ridin in Ole plymouths , dodge ect.
Hi Willie, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Make sure you watch the commercials as that is how I get paid so I can keep sharing with you. Hi gristlepounder, Thank you for sharing details on your Dad's car like this one :-) Good times, good times , Lou
gristlepounder whwre does the name "gristlepounder" come from. Lol? 🤣 i've heard off the wallmones before, but that takes the cake
This is "that one" muscle car I plan to own one day. Awesome engine, and super heavy duty. My uncle drove one as a police interceptor back in the day- said it was the fastest he had ever gone in any vehicle.
Hi Ol' Mr. Ellis, Glad you like this one and thank you for sharing the story with your Uncle. Lou
Ol' Mr. Ellis and Lou Costabile:
If you're gonna have "that one" vehicle, what would it be?
Gorgeous inside n out ❤
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Dad ordered a 79 dodge Monaco with the same package. Fully loaded including automatic in the floor with true bucket seats. 3 carbs instead of 1 carter 4v. Oh yeah, you knew there was a big motor under the hood. I have the car now. Not one of my brothers or sisters wanted it. It needed some TCL. It got it. My husband restored it. Drive it normally, and the gas mileage isn't bad. Its got a mild cam so its got a nice sound. Enjoy.

I've been to the convention center many years ago. Car show at the time also. Back in the 70's Katherine Bach was signing autographs in the hey day of the Dukes of hazard. I always have liked the 70-71 Fury..
Hi Frank, ....I always like Katherine Bach in the hey day :-)
I'm in love with this car!!!!!! I had a 68 VIP that was my grandfather's car
Hi Will Billingham, We have a Winner! Thank you for sharing details on your car too. Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
Six men my size could have easily fit in a car like this Fury. Perfect for the long haul, like from Iowa to New Jersey and back.
Thank you for viewing & sharing.
5 men my size can fit in my 2007 Chrysler 300
My brother had a 1967 Sports Fury in the Nassau blue, with a white vinyl sport top. He came out of the service with this amazing car from Kansas with a factory Super Commando 440, and torque-flite on the column with A/C. He drove it to New York averaging close to 110m.p.h. in about 24 hours!!
What a car in, 1970!!
@@michaelwallbrown3726 3 guys my size can fit in a late model corolla barley 😄
Friggin sweet.
I owned a 1970 Fury II with a 440 in the early 90's when I lived in Virginia back in the early 90's when I served in the Navy.
I missed the damed thing to this day. It was the same color as this beauty...
I was driving west of the ocean one day with my girlfriend at the time and some kids yelled at us, 'HEY....THE OCEAN IS BACK THAT WAY!!!'
It certainly was a friggin boat. I miss those days.

THAT is a really cool looking car! My first love is 69 Chargers but I really like this car! No mistaking it for anything other than a Mopar. That is a real car.
Hi Richard, Happy to read "I really like this car!" :-) Lou
I was working @ Bluegrass Chrysler/Plymouth in Lexington, Ky, when a couple of 75 year old spinster sisters (no kidding. Miss Emily & Miss Mamie here) pulled up in front of the dealership in a '65 Sport Fury, FULLY loaded, with about 75K miles on it, in museum quality condition. Console shifter, buckets, Turquoise with matching interior. The owner of the dealership was looking out of the windows of the showroom, and saw the car roll onto the lot. I couldn't help but notice that he had a bit of a woodie, looking at the car. He said "do what ever it takes. I want that car". The sisters traded it for a brand new '82 Cordoba, with T-tops, Gold and brown metallic 2 tone, FULLY loaded. We gave them $750 for their trade. I felt bad. I LOVE Sport Fury's. I'd rather have one than a Road Runner.
Great story Wilbur Snaffel, Thank you for sharing, Lou
Beautiful car. Dad had a Bronze colored 1970 Fury 3 4 door.
Hi Ken, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
My buddy had a 70 Sport Fury GT with a 440 engine. Olive green with a darker green vinyl top. What was nice about his car was he had wide oval tires all the way around with thin white walls with the wheels like on this video, and the torsion bars were adjusted so that the car was slightly higher in the front. It always looked like it was coming off the line. It had a torqueflite automatic and he loved going thru the gears! Had the quad tips too !
Glad this video / car brings back memories of fun with your Buddy! Lou
Hard to believe that Alpine White paint would look so good on that BIG Beautiful Fury
Nice :-)
Beautiful: The Sport Fury is another one of my Dream Mopars,Hahaha.
Glad that this is on the "dream car" list, Nice!
Lou Costabile Yessir. Thank You and Thumbs Up.
71 Plymouth.
Wow one of my best buds in hs had one.
70 sport fury, white , haha here come the memories. 383 though.
That was about 89 or so....haha what a beast of a car even then.
MrTheHillfolk Yep,Still is. Did he get rid of it?
71 Plymouth.
Yea unfortunately, it didn't get wrecked by us stupid kids, but he sold it. It was still in good shape, not all banged up.....I can't remember why he sold it off, I'll have to ask him next time I bump into him. Better yet lemme send him a link of this so he can drool, or cry😂
These cars are so cool. And with a big block 6 2 barrels and a 4 speed. Look out. I remember seeing them at the Royal Dodge dealer in Hazelwood,Mo. I wound up getting a 71 Imperial 2 door with a 440 TNT engine. It too was super nice and a highway hauler. This one here is a beaut.
Hi Craig Pennington, Happy to read the details you enjoy about this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
The Minneapolis PD had one of these unmarked whith red lights in the grill, chased me and another guy racing around SW High school I pulled over in my Buick powered Vega and he went after the guy in 70 Chevelle SS. It wasn't slow!!!. Cool looking Mopar.❤😮😊

hey Lou its me....we all remember these screamers that were variously-equipped everywhere on the roads and streets and highways, even the wagon-versions were brutal...and then we'd see them at the theaters in the infamous southern- style movies and again on tv. even the buford pusser movies had them too. they looked extremely intimidating but not to mean to sell-em. lol...their unibody torsion-bar construction made them much lighter than they looked, they also drove light on the touch, and had the most famous of em all...the honkin' 375-horse 440s BUUWWWAAAHHHHHHHH!!!...Chrysler even had a vacuum monitoring option that lit-up the drivers side turn-signal in the hood or fender to remind the driver to get out of it if he wanted max-mileage and it grew brighter the more he stood-up in it...ya gotta love-that.
Hey charlotte quillen, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Lou
Had a car just like this - same year but it was black. (Light package.) I told people it was a 69 and a half because it was marked 69 but made in 1970. Mine had a 383 CI in it. Raced a 396 Chevelle on I-35 near Minneapolis and beat it. Man I miss that car!

Oh yea that's a beautiful car! I very good old friend had one of these back in the late 70's. It had the very same interior, but matching blue on the outside! But his had a 440, with a console shift! That was a slap stick like my cousins Challenger! But anyway, we treated that car like a truck! Towed a boat, or carried his 14' Zodiac inflatable raft and 35 hp Chrysler outboard in the truck! With a few diving tanks and all the equipment that goes with. There was so much weight he had to add air shocks! Let me tell ya, we beat the crap out of that car, but it never broke! Matter of fact we once towed a 28' travel trailer down to Fla for his uncle! Without missing a beat! But it was a gas guzzler! Loaded for a dive, on a local trip? 10-14 mpg! Towing a boat? 8 mpg, the trip to Fla? With travel trailer? 6 mpg!!! But never a shortage of power, plus never used any oil!
Hi Kevin Voyer, Glad you like this one :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing details on your friends car, and adding to the story, Lou
Nice car, real nice. I like the 70 and older Chrysler. I drove a 66 polara to high school. I really love your car.

I have a 1971 Sport Fury with the 360 LA block in it. #'s matching survivor. It was originally my grandfather's car, and my father sold it in 1994. I ended up finding it and bringing it home 22 years later. It's rough, but still alive
HI Mike McGee, Great story :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Beautiful car. Just stunning! These are priceless treasurers. I would make one minor suggestion, put the original shroud on the radiator, it will help prevent overheating.

Hi Anthony Zee Automotive, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
I had a fury 3 440 1967 what a machine
Glad this one brought back the memory of yours :-)
A 47 year survivor newly as nice as new. These cars told everyone they were on the road, especially would with that 440. Like I've mentioned earlier, knew nothing about these in the day, but with everything available like it was back then that isn't unusual.
Hi Ray 56, Thanks for viewing and sharing, Lou
What a nice Fury, I owned several Fury's but not rare one like this.
Happy to read this one brings back memories of your cars :-)
Awesome!!!! One of the most beautiful bodies ever made.
Hi Mauro Pietro, So glad you like this one :-) Thank you for sharing a wonderful comment, Lou
You are very welcome Lou. I'm a car guy and this car is in the top of the my list. I hope in the near future I can find a clean one like yours to bring to my garage. Merry Christmas!!!!
That would be a nice gift, I hope you get yours soon :-) Merry Christmas, Lou

Such a beautiful car!!
Glad to read you enjoy this one :-)
Now that is a fine car!
Nice :-)
Boy Lou I think you had to back up 1 whole zip code to get the car in frame :-). With those old tracks, we sometimes had to push a book of matches either over or under the tape cartridge to get it to stay in contact with the heads so it would play, crude but effective LOL. The engine bay is really a nice honest 50-year-old representation. Great video, as usual, Lou thanks for sharing.
Hi Rich, I'm also using a wide angle lens :-) Happy to read you enjoy seeing this one, and you're welcome, Lou
hey Lou, you should put a reminder to like at the end of the vids...im a big fan of yours and even me i often forget to put a like because as soon as it end i rush to see another car. i honestly believe thats the major reason why you get so few likes
Hey Ragimund, Thank you for being a fan of mine and the Channel. I forget that stuff too because I'm rushing to video the next car :-) Good idea. I'll try to remember that. Lou
haha =D those cars are so loveable
Very Nice. Looks like it doesn't have a vinyl top...which is a good thing. Two door models look better without them.

Incredible but true. I had a chance to buy one of these EXACTLY like this one. White 1970 Sport Fury 440 GT in Santee California in 1986 for $2600.00. I passed on the deal. Always regretted that stupid decision. I was the first one out, drove the car with the owner, had the money in my pocket,,and passed.
Hi Jeff L, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Another great Chrysler fuseilage full sized car. Awesome. Chrysler made some real beasts! I used to pilot/drive a huge, green 69 Plymouth VIP when I was a teenager. Bought it from a friend's father. Didn't have a 440 though.
Hi Jesse Mag, Happy to read this one brings back memories of the Green Plymouth you used to drive :-) Lou

Hi PepsisWarrior, Glad you enjoy the sound of this one :-) Lou
It would be fun to cruise down the Tri-State Tollway in this car!
Nice :-)
I used to call it the mafia pickup truck because of the big trunk to throw in the bodies.😀🙂
Thank you for sharing.
Dang what's happening to me, day by day this year, my choices are getting shifted..i was a lover for 68 Hurst then got shifted to 69 Mercury Cougar then to this 1970 Plymouth Fury Sport GT
(jeez what a sexy name with a designation ""GT"")
Also got more when guy in video said ""this GT package was equivalent to Challenger"" ..i mean hell man!! Its a very gorgeous car!!
Hi Ckryse S, You're on the right RUclips Channel for your continuous enjoyment of many cars :-) Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Sharp looking big MoPar.
Glad you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Backing up, baaaackkkinngg up.. We'll get it wholly into the screen eventually! :)
That made me laugh out loud :-) Thanks for the comment, Lou
Hey Lou, the reason I said that was not only in response to you trying to get the whole car in the screen and in focus, but also because my grandfather owned a 69 Fury III 4 dr sedan that I once tried to get a side shot pic of, and couldn't do it w/o being about 15-20 ft away, so it brought back a fond memory!
It's a large car for sure.
I remember seeing a car like this on TV shows such as MISSION: Impossible and Mannix.
HI Frank Denardo, Glad to read this one bring back memories for you :-) Lou
Lou Costabile I have the shows on DVD. Chrysler was the sponsor and corporate tie-in.
In case anyone missed it ...its a 70, and the hideaways are electrically actuated.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
Unbelievable! I had a white, two-door 1970 Plymouth Fury III in the early 1990's that I bought for $1,400.00. Nothing much from a performance standpoint, though, only a 318 under the hood. But it had the console shifter! The car was originally green inside and out, and had been painted white. I opted to trade the 1970 Fury hubcaps it came with for a set of '69's, which I liked much better. Wish I had that car back!
Hi 70Kenny, Glad this video brought back those memories and thank you for sharing your story, Lou
Thanks again Lou.
Always a pleasure :-)
Unusual to see crome piece around the roof with out a Top
I always thought this body style looked better without the vinyl roof. There's no natural break in the body to delineate the vinyl roof area with this roof. The notchback version of the roof works better with vinyl.
Great attention to details.
Condition: Fabulous
Glad you enjoy this one Deorman Robey :-) Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
