    I like the fact that even after all the years he left the school, once he came back, Gin was one, if not, the first person he called. Shows how good their friendship is.

    "your blood, sweat and tears were summed up as simple genius" that's the problem with great achievers. From great athletes, artists, singers, scientists to entrepreneurs, when someone rise to the very top of his/her field people just say it's because he/she is gifted, it's in the genes or it's just luck, like to reassure themselves in someway. Even if all these sometime play a role, these people probably have to work and sacrifice at ridiculous extents that most people wouldn't even want to get close to get were they are (check out Koby Bryant work ethic). It has to be frustrating to see everyone disregarding all the effort you put in your craft by just stating that you're a genius or you're just lucky. Michelangelo said it himself : " If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all."

    I love how Joichiro thinks that Soma is stronger than he his because he never gets discouraged, unlike him.
    Soma is kinda like Rock Lee in Naruto: he doesn't have an incredible innate talent, but nobody tries hard like him. He wins because of his hard work, and if he fails, he just works harder.

    • @foamet

  • @TheYoungMindz
    @TheYoungMindz 6 лет назад +90

    Actually he used up all his strength. He can't push forward anymore because creating a new dish is super hard and saiba exhausted. People know nothing but keep telling him to make a new dish until he run out of strength to do it.. That's the reason why nakamura create the central so the chef would no longer lost like saiba(by creating own dish until you exhausted).. So he took the freedom of the chef and let the elite ten create the food hence he called it salvation.

    • @IchigoKurosaki011
      @IchigoKurosaki011 6 лет назад +13

      He didn't run out of strength to do it, those people were asking for way too much. His dishes were already so amazing, yet they keeped asking for something even better than the last. There is a limit to how good your cooking can be. Not just that but a lot of people didn't recognise that he worked hard to become the great chef he is, instead people just chalked it up to him being born a talented chef, so that really pissed him off and drained him a bit.

    • @TheYoungMindz
      @TheYoungMindz 6 лет назад +1

      Kevin Rouse did you read manga? The chapter title is "the man who used up his strength"..but what you said is still true only that he did used up all his strength.

    • @IchigoKurosaki011
      @IchigoKurosaki011 6 лет назад

      I guess, but it's not as simple as that.

    • @TheYoungMindz
      @TheYoungMindz 6 лет назад

      Kevin Rouse you need to read the manga if you wanted to understand it deeper. Jouichiro said it himself if he switched places with soma, soma would've face the storm with smile even with injured conditions. The day before the blue as you can see in the episode he staring at the plate not knowing what to create cause he used up his strength that's the reason why senzaemon wants him to leave cooking for a while. Those jerk judges pushing him to his limit.
      *Spoiler*
      The same situation happens to current First seat Tsukasa eishi the difference is he didn't used up his strength yet. That's the reason why he was manipulated by Azami to take over Totsuki gakuen.

    • @IchigoKurosaki011
      @IchigoKurosaki011 6 лет назад

      Nah I doubt that, there is literally a limit to how good cooking can get. You can't just make it better and better every time. What's next, he cooks food that rivals whatever shit they serve in Heaven? Yeeeeah, I don't think so. The point is that no matter what, Soma is never put down even after losing against him so many times. I think he'd feel exactly the same if others didn't respect him for his hard work and chalked it up to innate talent.

  • @askaskj21
    @askaskj21 6 лет назад +46

    It's not about him having pressure, but as you already know from Soma's previous works that creating an all new dish is very, very difficult. It's not about having fun or being bored or being pressured, it's about how all of Saiba's effort was simply summed up as genius and people didn't "explore the storm of creating a new dish" and never took the initiative like Saiba. That was why Saiba started to lose his passion for cooking because he was the only one that was trying to create a whole new dish or open up a new dimension of cuisine. Saiba in the end thought that Soma's strength, in which he doesn't have is that Soma LOVES to face hard challenges, and if Soma was in Saiba's shoes at that time, Soma would be smiling in the storm rather than struggling. I love your videos, but you guys talk to each other over the most important parts of the episode and you end up missing the main point!

    When you are already the best, it gets harder and harder to keep pushing forward and become better. Saiba cooked a delicious meal for those high class food industry taste testers, and they all said it was delicious. Saiba had fun making the dish, so he started to explain how he did it and what went into his thoughts when he was making it. But before he could even finish, the taste testers cut him off by saying "what's next?" , which took away his fun and put pressure on him to surpass himself, which gets harder and harder. Cooking became like a storm that he couldn't get through and he became stagnant in his creativity. So when he left, he was able to let go of the stress of the Totsuki life of constantly trying to better his cooking and was able to have fun being creative again, which made him even better. Plus he had a son he could teach and even learn from. Can't wait for next episode you two.

    Saiba was pressured of the innovative cooking, on what is he going to cook next because thats the expectation of the people. And they might missed the part when Joichiro said that Soma has the strength he doesn't have when he was on his prime.Because Soma enjoys the challenge. He lost to his dad almost 500 times but he doesnt give up and he keeps going. yeah.

      Justin Balaguer Yea, I also thought that they might have missed that part, where Saiba acknowleges a trait his son has, that he doesn't even have. *That unrelenting perseverance and the joy and passion of facing seemingly, unbeatable challenges,* which I see as a Genius trait as well and I've only seen it in Rock Lee in Naruto and Soma in Food Wars.
      Back when Saiba mentions this Genius trait his son has, a couple episodes back, I told Kimchi to remember that line, and Kimchi "Loved my comment" so Idk if he remembers that comment but yea, this episode was what I was referring to.

      Your opinion sucks. I'm a fan of Tokyo Ghoul, but as a fan I am not even confident in asking or suggesting anyone watch the anime because it is a horrible adaptation of the original source material. As an anime, it is awful. The manga is so much more. And I'd rather have someone read it than watch the horrendous excuse for an adaptation.

    Wow this is one of the worst edits you guys have ever done. You basically cut all the most important bits. And chalking Saiba's issue down to soley pressure is... simply inadequate. I don't think I have seen a reaction to this episode where the reactor understood Saiba's issue. SmH.

      But it is because of the pressure. The pressure that arises from the constantly raising expectations people have of artists. The pressure to come up with the next new dish is what ended up burning him out. Azami saw how these unsustainable expectations destroyed his role model and decided to take those expectations away. No more coming up with new dishes, no more unfair pressure on the chefs.

      Relax. Isnt it ironic that you're here on THIS episode of all of them, hammering them on what kind of content you want to see?
