Great reaction! Avantasia is project similar to Ayreon lead by Tobias Sammet, the singer here. Lots of guest singers and a real honor to be asked to participate. I read a comment by Tobias that when he approached Floor about singing this song she expressed some concern because it sits lower in her voice then where she is naturally comfortable. He reassured her that her voice would be perfect and it was. Floor mentioned in the comments how honored and proud she was to be part of an Avantasia song. My guess is that was a professional dream to do. I love their voices together and I could totally see Tobias singing Marko's parts on a Nightwish song. Would love to hear him guest singing live with Nightwish.

The other Floor collab on this album is also EXCELLENT, just FYI. The first time I heard this song I legitimately burst into tears, so you're not alone in that. My understanding is that the album is written from the viewpoint of a person who was born in the wrong world, and the music is about his struggles to find somewhere to fit in. The most recent 3 albums (which is as far back as I've gotten so far) are all excellent. If I had to describe them broadly, think 80's rock opera (Meatloaf, for example) stuck in a blender with power metal. Definitely worth more reactions.
Not to mention probably my favourite line... "I'd have fought the devil to be the one that you need. Now I'm giving myself, I'm all his, if he still want's me he can take me away". Just. Wow. Just that desperate need to be needed. Hits me every time.

He is a singer and songwriter of the power metal band "Edguy", and the founder of the German metal opera project "Avantasia". I Love this huge 80's vibe to it, and visuals, Those VISUALS.... Those Tim Burton/ish drawings are absolutely brilliant (The artwork was done by Swedish illustrator Alexander Jansson). Yet another band I thought would be perfect for you to react to. Tobias has had some incredible artists on the Avantasia albums, hell even Alice Cooper got in on it with the song "The Toy Maker". Edguy his other band is pretty great too. The Robinhood video is pretty funny and Tears of a Mandrake is one of my faves. 🤘🤘

I do enjoy Avantasia, this is a great song, really a serious power Ballad with a dark edge, in many ways an album out of its time, in the 80s this would have dominated everywhere, another artist who produces albums like this though often with a more sci-fi theme is Ayreon, Floor works with Arjen a lot so he has to worth looking at, I have ell of the Ayreon albums and only 3 of the Avantasia albums (says it all really) Big love Brother

You should check out more of Avantasia, it's definitely worth it! There's another song with Floor called "Kill the pain away". A classic Avantasia song is "The Scarecrow". There's a great live Version of it (The flying opera). Lot of great songs to get into!
So you found out about Avantasia, great. Many great albums and great live performances. In northwest Europe the emphasis is often on the first syllable. In Tobias it’s on To. To-be-as. The a as the a in Darth.
Tobias is an amazing singer. I saw him live with his old band Edguy in 2009, it was great fun because he kept cracking jokes between songs. I loved the first two Avantasia records, haven't listened much to the newer things, but this sounds amazing. Try Edguy - Lavatory love machine for a good laugh
