Amanda Somerville is simply a lagend.
This is from 2008 when she also covered many gigs for Simone Simons who was ill and had to miss a tour.
She had a project with Michael Kiske, worked with Kamelot, After Forever.
Initially she was the "known commodity for lables" in Exit Eden and her work with Tobias started in his Edguy days.
I've always compared Tobias vocals with Bruce, but everyone told me I'm tripping. So thank you for that comparison!

Avantasia is such a blast live. Tobi is a really fun and natural frontman. When the crowd got out av sync in Norway a few years ago he called us out and said we were doing progressive rock. For getting the full scale of an Avantasia show you should check out Sign of The Cross from the Flying Opera as well.
As always, interesting and great analysis. I'd recommend more from Avantasia, mainly Scarecrow, live from Wacken 2011 featuring Jorn Lande - same show as this and the MV Raven Child which is an entire novel in 8 minutes or so. Amazing music!

Thanks for reviewing, Eric 🤘🤘Can I just add that the second guitar soloist is the fabulous Sacha Paeth. Tobias Sammet has probably the widest vibrato in metal! Hope you do more - one of my personal favourites isn't a live track, but it features Floor Jansen, Misplaced Amongst the Angels.

You have seen Tobias Sammet before on the Ayreon track "The Day that the World Breaks Down." He does concept albums that, though not similar to the Ayreon universe are connected stories in album form. Amanda Somerville is one of the founding members of the supergroup Exit Eden. She didn't appear on their new album, however, preferring to concentrate on raising her family.

Originally on this song, and in select tours by AVANTASIA, the high overarching vocals on the last iteration of the chorus were performed by Michael Kiske of HELLOWEEN fame, suddenly looming majestically on the back ramp. That was epic, and the way it was supposed to be, since Kiske's character in the Metal opera, the Druid, appears at that exact time, while the protagonists carry on with their impassioned lines. If you know the charismatic vox of Michi Kiske (I HOPE you do!), you can picture the awe. There are fan recordings of that set-up online, but the quality is alas not superb. Still fun to compare on your own.
