I found that fact to be probably even more hilarious than the film itself, because oh man did they ever get it absolutely right. Did you know Kristoff’s design was actually originally for Rapunzel instead? Thank God they saved him for Frozen (which I mean a less better movie, Tangled is so much better than Frozen) He’s easily my favorite Disney prince
The teardrop thing is straight out of the original fairy tale: At the climax the witch finds out about the prince's secret visits to Rapunzel and punishes Rapunzel for it first by cutting off her hair and then by banishing her to the middle of god even knows where. The prince comes to the tower as he usually does and is greeted by the witch, who spitefully tells him that Rapunzel is dead, holding the long shorn off hair as evidence. Heartbroken, the prince draws his sword and murders the witch before throwing himself out of the tower window in despair. The fall doesn't kill him, but he is blinded by the brambles that grow at the foot of the tower. He wanders aimlessly for many months like some flagellant, before he finally comes across Rapunzel... and their two children. He collapses into her arms from the exhaustion, and she starts crying: her tears fall into his eyes and he is miraculously healed.
@@amberwingtundrawing776 That's exactly what I liked about it too! And it has the added bonus of giving the witch a motive for keeping Rapunzel captive in the first place.
I remember my sister told me this as a bedtime story and it did the opposite. Not because of how screwed up it was but because of how interested I was.
I’ll never forget when my aunts walked into this movie late, missed the part where Gothel kidnapped Rapunzel, then thought that Rapunzel realizing Gothel kidnapped her as a baby was a plot twist😶🤣
i actually watched a video essay about how tangled should have never explained that Rapunzel was kidnapped and make that plot twist for a better movie 😶
Yeah but it wouldn’t explain the origin of sun drop falling from the sky and gothel’s old. Gothel would have to explain everything at the end to clear those points which is unlike her cause she doesn’t explain Rapunzil anything than ordering around and manipulating her.
Hehehe that's a bit funny yet sorry your aunt's missed that part! Kinda reminds me of when my mom walked in on watching the scene where Eugene and Rapunzel save each other(even though it's sad, it's my favorite part), and she kept asking *"why?! Wait what?! He's dead! He's dying! How?! Is he dead?! Is he gonna live"* it goes on and on!!
You missed a great opportunity for foreshadowing at 4:36 when you talked about Rapunzel "never ever breaking a promise". That remark by Rapunzel turned out to be crucial at 12:56 when Eugene was forced to cut her hair before she could heal him. Still don't see it? Let me explain. Eugene knew that promises were sacred to Rapunzel. She as much as said so when making the original deal with him. So when he heard her promise Gothel that she would go with her and never try to run a way forever if she could just heal Eugene, Eugene knew what he had to do. If he allowed Rapunzel to go through with the healing, Rapunzel would be bound to Gothel by her promise , which would be as bad as death for Rapunzel. That is why he said "If you do this, then you will die." When Rapunzel persisted in trying to heal him, his only choice was to cut her hair before she could heal him. It was inevitable when you think about it.
@@TheBlackLakeSiren but isnt that weird? pulling gothel up the tower had to cause some breakage right? shouldnt there be lots of little brown hairs in her head if thats true?
@@demiokulaja7787 Sure. You could say her hair is magically strong and durable. Perhaps it can withstand a lot of weight. I'd imagine natural shedding doesn't cause the hair to turn brown. That it only does when cut. Maybe it can withstand weight but not blades?

Loved your reaction to this~ It's my one of my favorite Disney movies. Fun fact, Zach Levi who is Flynn Rider's Voice Actor did indeed sing "I See the Light" with her. He can sing quite well and even does theatre too!!
they def should've made repunzel older bcs then her naivety abt the world would make her seem even more strange tbh keep every part of her personality and just put it in an adult woman in her 20s. would've made the whole kidnapping aspect a lil bit more tragic bcs 18 is still suuuper young but meeting ur parents after being gone for 20+ years is CRAZY
There's a neat aspect of the final confrontation in the tower - in a moment where she's feeling overwhelmed in the sequel series TV cartoon, Rapunzel returns to the tower and it's exactly as she left it. Broken shards of glass and the shattered nightstand still lying there and her old dead hair strewn about the room, scars left by her struggle against Gothel.
Hair is actually really strong and since she has the hook to anchor the weight, it'd be fairly easy for an adult to pull up a woman. Drying would take many hours. That's 70ft of thick hair. Wouldn't be surprised if mold would grow in her hair. 😂 She might not even wash it realistically. No plumbing or fairly new plumbing means that she would only get to wash maybe twice a month. She would definitely have to air dry it outside but considering it would take hours, I doubt she would sit with her hair outside for over 12 hours.
In the movie, I could be wrong, but I don’t think he’s 26. In the tv series (which is canon), there’s an episode in season 3 where he turns 26 (he thought he was actually turning 25). Season 3 takes place roughly 3 years after the movie, so that would have made him around 23 in the movie (but he genuinely believed he was 22, he had no idea of his actual age up until that episode). So the age difference isn’t really that big (5 years), but yeah, it’s still kind of large lol
