This is the first time I have ever seen anything like this. I'm 54 and Video Games mean nothing to me. I am totally staggered & hypnotised by this. At first I didn't know what it was. I was hoping that one could buy Video Games just like this. Just a gentle amble through historic Cityscapes of the distant past. But I gather Assassins Creed is some kind of killing game? Do games exist that showcase this and only this beautful vista after vista? I am astonished and utterly amazed by this beauty. How on earth did the makers design this thing? Surely this cannot be an exact replica of every street & building in London of that time? Is it????
How would they have researched such an undertaking and how long would it take to create this? I am utterly stunned. If there were games (with no killing or violence) full of just this kind of thing I'd go out & buy a console tomorrow. Utterly captivating & beautful.

I’m the same age and equally mesmerised. Never seen anything like this and gives a great insight to what it was like. The sounds and visuals match up perfectly, also. I now really believe, one day we will be able to sit in a small enclosed booth and be transported to places in history, visually but lifelike. Keep the realistic smells, mind you! 😂😂😂
Victorian London was renowned for this!

This is what Ubisoft excels at with Assassin’s Creed it’s a shame that the gameplay (and story) of these games have gotten stagnant again over the years because these are the best models of historical cities I’ve seen anywhere in any form of media.

2:13 Carriage overtakes in an intersection and straight-up runs a woman down. No one bats an eye.
14:38 Driver nods off. Carriage tries to overtake but collides with our wagon.
17:43 Man gets run down in the street. Our driver backs his wagon up and goes past. No one bats an eye.
18:38 Carriage collides with our wagon.
29:05 Some comically bad driving on everyone's part.
31:28 Man gets run down. Some comically bad driving by everyone to get around it, leading to TWO more pedestrians being run down immediately.
51:20 Both men in a wagon leap off at the same time while it's in motion.
52:24 Small boy is run down by a wagon but pops back up.
1:07:38 Our driver seem inclined to not only run a woman over but to chase her down when he misses.
Numerous cases of pedestrians walking right into the side of horses, wagons, and carriages, even stationary ones, including 1:07:56 when a man walks right into a carriage, bounces off, turns around, and walks smack into our wagon.
1:10:22 Our driver hits a man, who nevertheless runs away. Then another man bounces off our horses several times.

It kinda seems like the AI is blind. People sleepwalk out into the street, and then seem shocked when a carriage rolling along at a snails pace runs into their path. The little kid actually ducked under the cart. It suggests that the developers knew there was this constant problem with pedestrians walking blindly into the street and getting run down, but they couldn't fix it. But they drew the line at children being killed willy-nilly in their game, so this was their quick fix. I'd rather the AI be smart enough to look before crossing the street, but this was better than nothing.

Since I started watching these Assassin Creed videos, I have been having dreams about them. I think that is a testament to the power that these images have over my psych. I especially love it when the view pans, and well known landmarks suddenly appear in the distance. Its like a classic Hollywood film entrance - every notable building is a member of the cast, and each is given an opportunity to shine at some point.

This isn't my favorite game, but I think it may be my favorite game environment. There's so much focus on games being huge and sprawling, but the focus on a single, dense city makes for such rich experience, especially when you add in the inherent restraint of having to make it roughly historically accurate. Too much freedom in environmental design tends to turn games into something like Gotham City in Batman and Robin. When everything is impossibly enormous, the weight of enormity is lost.
My only complaint with this environment is that it seems like, at some point, someone went through and added way too many big iron letters all over the buildings, saying the most generic things like "Insurance" or "Warehouse." A few of those is great, but certain areas are just riddled with them. It feels kinda cheap.
And of course, it does kinda bug me that you can't wander very long without seeing a cart run over a pedestrian,m leaving corpses all over the street, with no one batting an eye. The AI in this game was a little too dumb. But that's AC for you. It's the one thing that breaks immersion the most.

This game is so unique and very detailed, i cant imagine how shortsighted can people be who are not satisfied with it, and say Origins is better, while origins looks like copy paste from previos AC games like first one. While in which other game you got entire victorian town with carriages and people doing various random stuff.
The things they could add to make it even more alive that you can interact more with random people on street, and go in bar and order a drink, or food in restaurant and that it restores health when you eat etc.
