  • From the complex history of Pablo Escobar, drug trafficking, and violence in Medellín, to the barriers to preaching the gospel among indigenous villages, we learn about the challenges of following Jesus in Colombia. In this episode of Neighborhoods and Nations, Steven Morales talks to Pastor Diego Cardona to understand what it is like to be a Christian in Colombia.

actually, a video from you guys (about the church in iran) encouraged me, a girl who has never left colombia, to a mission trip in the north zone of colombia. i was ASTONISHED by the evangelical wayuu (the indigenous population of La Guajira) and the kogui church (in Santa Marta) because they worshipped in their native language but the real creator❤. the hard thing about colombia is that most people know ABOUT Jesus and the gospel bc of us being a catholic country but they believe in a works based salvation, they pray to angels and statues not knowing only Jesus can save them. its actually pretty looked down to be an evangelical (i am the only christian in a culturally catholic family and its not really fun haha) but yeah, the work for people even in cities (i live in bogota) to know the ACTUAL gospel is still hard

Your mischaracterization of Catholic viewpoints shows pretty clearly you've never been catechized.
The first step if you want to convert Catholics to grasp the Gospels more fully is to have the graciousness to study their doctrine in the fullness of charity.
If you get how to convert Catholics from Protestant myths and accusations (like the ones you've listed which, when true to the degree they're portrayed, _are_ explicit heresy) and the anti-Christian accusations levied against the Catholic church, then you are unconsciously leaning into the ways of someone you don't want to be leaning into.
Just please be careful not to get addicted to the sense you are righteously fighting for Christ to bring Him to pagan non-Christians.
If you need more elaboration on specific points, I will respond when available.

@@TheDarkRobloxian Would you mind elaborating on your claims?
I am a Christian and rightly respect Mary because she gave birth to Jesus. But nowhere in the Bible it is said to pray to her, did the apostles Peter, James and Paul pray to her? Why should we?
I respect her yes we should respect but why believe we need an intermediary between us and God other than Jesus?

    • @TheDarkRobloxian
      @TheDarkRobloxian 2 месяца назад

      @@ebenezerkouakou3869 Sure.
The short of it is that we believe Jesus made us into his family, and Mary holds a special place both in that family by nature and by being the most emblematic as the woman crushing the snake and as the woman crowned with stars.
When Jesus says He is the God of the living, we act according to this faith, and ask those living righteous in His presence to pray for us and with us, because the prayers of the righteous are powerful. It's not about putting devotion to the saints in the middle and calling it devotion to God like the Pharisees honored their parents; it's just one of the things He has clearly established in Scripture for us children to see.

I'm Colombian, I live in Medellin as a missionary for 5 years and I am motivated to see how you have been able to portray the history of the gospel in Colombia.
As a missionary I can say that despite everything there is hope!
Thank you very much for coming to my nation and bringing the Kingdom of God to Medellin.

My uncle & his family as well as many American Missionaries have gone to Columbia & lived there to translate the Bible to several tribal languages to reach the tribes. This happened in the 80’s-2000’s through Wycliffe Bible Translation. My cousin was 2 when my uncle & his family decided to move to Columbia. My cousin basically grew up as a Colombian & speaks both English & Spanish fluently. In fact he holds a Columbian citizenship there so he gets basically free medical treatments from there… However, it got so dangerous for the American missionaries so they eventually moved back to America.

You should voice translate, not just caption. Most people take the time to listen to videos like this, more than watch.
