Thank you for this. Bought 10 year old Jazz that had a very fast idle speed. Think the dealer had either removed the battery or allowed it to fully drain. When re-connected/charged the car did not have chance to reset the correct idle speed. My wife spent most of the time with her foot on the brakes as the car was constantly pulling away. Racing engine producing far too much noise. I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes, reconnected and made sure everything was turned off. Re-started and the idle speed was about 1500+rpm. Held the rpm at 3000 for about 4 minutes until i was sure the fan was cutting in. Then allowed the engine to idle and it dropped to about 700rpm. Left it idling for 10minutes. Turned off the ignition and then re-started. Idle was about 1000rpm and quickly dropped back to about 700rpm. Wife now totally happy as this makes the car much easier to handle. Thank you so much, this had made such a great difference. Perfect !!!

To be clear USING HONDA HDS it can take over 10min and every time the fan turns on you don’t even count that. I’d recommend you let it idle for 10+ min not 5 min. If you want to let it idle for 15 go for it because you don’t have HDS so you have no way to tell if this is working or not. Better yet order an HDS before you have an issue! They cost $22 if you are willing to wait 1-5wks for delivery. Or they cost $70-140 for shorter delivery times. In stock in America it’s going to cost $100+. Order an HDS Clone immediately it’s a necessary tool for anyone that doesn’t have Hondata Flashrpo or ktuner. I’d also recommend that before you clean your throttle body you should run a chart for 1min with your idle characteristics. After cleaning do it again. Also look at your absolute throttle position values before and after.

Hey buddy I have a question. What is the reason for keeping the car at 3000 rpm? Is it just to warm it up faster for the fans to go off? Or is there another reason. Can I just let it run till warms up without keeping it to 3000 rpm? Thank you
not 100% sure but i think it’s (1) to warm it up to operating temps but also (2) to give it a reference point for the ecu to ‘know’ it’s at 3000 rpm. i think it’s necessary to to get it to 3000 rpm for it to work properly
I did everything like you said and it back to normal. But there is one thing that the RPMs surging while braking at low speeds causing car to lunge forward, it is very annoying. Anyone experienced that and how to fix this? It wastes the gas

@@kelvinsgarage thanks for the reply on something you put up a year ago. Not a lot of people do that 👍
I tried this after I cleaned my 08 crv throttle I had erratic idle and also disconnected battery for 20 min it cept going into limp mode I had to go to a shop and he tried it also so he had to hook up his computer to reset it
Had P0606 come on and acceleration cut out while driving. Had throttle cleaned, and occasionally receive p0507 code for higher RPMs. I repeated this videos process twice exactly....and RPMS still sit at 1.1k and go to 1.4-1.5k when fan kicks in. Since the cleaning, ive driven about 15 miles. Anyone know what to do? 08 civic
Maybe this can help...
"Vehicle(s): 2006-08 Civic, 2006-08 Civic GX, and 2006-2011 Civic Hybrid
Details: If a Honda Civic, included within the year and model range listed above, comes in with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0606, Honda advises to first verify that the factory recommended spark plugs are installed. Aftermarket spark plugs may have built-in capacitors that can cause electrical interference, which will set DTC P0606. Also, the same DTC could set if the spark plugs are badly worn with a gap of 0.080” or more."
@@metzmatu8409 Thanks for sharing. I replaced my spark plugs and ignition coils with genuine parts and that seems to solve it. I was running my 08 civic with the original coils til 205k (oops lol) My faulty coils fried my spark plugs way sooner.
What if it's already idling at 3000. Do I just not hold the throttle?
Thats a good question think u got a problem there dude
Tried it but idle speed not going below 1000 rpm
Fuc yeh dude u the man!thanks...
Hi should I do the idle relearn procedure every time I change the battery ?
For the best performance, most likely yes.
my fans did not turn on, i waited 10 minutes, should i wait longer?
Mine did after 10 mins
@@Jacob58201 my fans turn on for 5 seconds at startup then turn off, my ac unit doesnt work
make sure you keep the hood closed, when the temperature gauge points to the middle, that’s around when the fan will turn on and off
