ESCOVITCH FISH || TERRI-ANN’S KITCHEN

  • Hey guys I just wanted to share this beginner friendly Tutorial on how to make Escovitch Fish. As always the steps are very easy to follow and you really don’t need any kitchen experience to be able to pull this off.     Ingredients List
    ----------------
    2 Medium Sized Fish
    1tsp fish seasoning + 1/2 tsp black pepper + (1/2 tsp Adobo optional)
    1/2 yellow and green bell pepper
    1medium onion cut into rings
    2 Scotch Bonnet Pepper chopped
    8-10 Pimento seeds
    1/2 cup vinegar
    1 Tbs sugar
    1 medium carrot (julienned)
    1/2 tsp black pepper (optional)
    1 1/2 cup oil for frying fish
    3 garlic cloves
    6 sprigs thyme
    Total cook time for Fish is 7 minutes medium heat and Total cook time is 5 minutes for Sauce on low-medium heat

    I remember this Jamaican Granny used to cook this in her restaurant. I didn't know what it was called because I didn't spoke english. It was really delicious. God bless her she is in better place now .

    Something about the pickle sauce I just always lovvvvvveeee so much pepper must be well hot in it. Been a while I haven't had Escovitch Fish! After dieting I shall treat thyself

      I usually just warm it up in the oven for a few minutes :)

      @@TERRIANNSKITCHEN ok I used it. I think I made mine too spicy and I didn't use as nearly half of the scotch bonnet you use lol cause I know scotch bonnet is no joke, I used like a quarter of it. The spiciness is simmering down as it cools down

    Can i ask...is the fish seasoning simply fish seasoning or have you added garlic salt/seasoned salt,black pepper etc?

    If you want to make a batch of fish, do you have to change the oil for each set of fish being fried?

    This is what im making today. I just want to know which way to do it being fried with flour coating or without, or is it just about preference? Ive seen it both ways is there a right or wrong?

      Both are right ways of doing it but I prefer the no flour way :)

    Fish is a plural also, there was no need to write ”fishes“ that’s not a word lol x
