This week we check out Shades State Park Indiana. Great peaceful location. We used our Hovsco Porto Max Scooter to get around.
We are an empty nester couple traveling the US with our Tiny camper from Runaway Campers. No we are not full timers but we do spent months each year on the road.
Ed struggles with Parkinson’s disease. Some days are better than others. If you see him shaking don’t worry he is fine. With medication it is under control most of the time. Through the magic of camera stability you can hardly notice.
We post a video most Sundays we hope you will join us. Subscribe if you like or just drop by occasionally.

Used to love going to shades state park! Thanks for this walk down memory lane! Thanks for sharing!
Relaxing place
Thank you so much for your videos. I enjoy watching them.
That’s kind of you. We are really glad you enjoy them. Thanks for the encouragement
What a peaceful, relaxing weekend you'll had!
It really is!
It was so peaceful
Always love your videos! Just a nice video that shows real people doing real things! Love Herky!
I appreciate that!
That was a cool trip thank you ❤❤❤❤❤I enjoyed it ?
Thanks for always supporting our channel
Thanks for the video! Felt like I was relaxing just watching y’all enjoy the respite! I guess I’m at the age that these simple pleasures mean so much more than other types of hectic journeys and entertainment! The hiking trail was beautiful! Reminds me of Turkey Run.
It’s vary close to turkey run SP. We really enjoy it because it less crowded than Turkey Run
That looks like a gorgeous place to spend some time. Looks like you’re getting lots of use out of that scooter!
It is!
I love the tulip trees too. I kind of wanted one in my yard, but I think my yard is really too small for that. Thanks for the scooter info. I really like it, and it is much more reasonably priced than the e-bikes.
You are so welcome!
Nice, trip. We have been thinking of getting out to Shades as well.
You should! Especially since the weather is cool
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I just wish my dog was as well behaved as Herky. I can’t take home with me because he’s so hyper. Quick weekends away are perfect for a runaway. That’s why I love mine
Herky is pretty chill but he has his moments
My mother (born in 1928 a coal miners daughter)was born there. It wasn’t turned into a state park until 1947. I can still locate the old foundation near the back of the park just off 234 were it makes a zig zag. We often would travel to the back where an old fire trail was and camp at what was known as Big Table Rock to us. We would walk up a spring fed stream there to a small waterfall we would jump in. Those were the days.
Great back story according to the flyers they gave us. They tryed to make it a health resort in the past. Eventually it was made a conservancy then later a state park. We love the park because it’s not as popular as turkey run. Thanks for watching
I was there back in the 50-s and I don’t like all the modern wood stairs. Nicer years ago
I think the stairs were built to lessen the environmental impact on people walking through
Northern lights on my bucket list too. Thinking of hanging in Alaska in 2025 till end of August, hoping to see them. What do you think?
You have to hang around late into august for a chance to see them. I want to see them also
Can you tell me what brand the campfire ring is? Seems to be easier than using the big one at the campsite.

I have seen videos of people hiking in Indiana state parks, and there were ladders on the trails. I like hiking, but I am not so into ladders. My balance could be better. Any ladders at this one?
Nevermind. You answered my question, if I had waited.
Yes I love those ladders on the hike but having Parkinson’s climbing ladders is not something safe for me especially when hiking alone.
@@Hanginwithherky I have Meniere's Disease and experience sudden attacks of vertigo, so I have to stay off them too. I hope the wisdom of age is worth it.
Are dogs allowed on the trails there?
Yes, but must be on a leash
