@@Timic83tc Okawa tried to turn SEGA into NEC. He didn't run the company, he was a Mere Chairboard member and owner of SEGA's then Parent Company CSK Holdings. Okawa was ALWAYS anti Video Gamer. He HATED video games. Okawa only dissolved SEGA's Console and Arcade R&D divisions once he took over as CEO of SEGA after Hayao Nakayama left in Early 2000. And Okawa also HATED the Dreamcast. Refused to allow CSK to fund it for Overseas distribution. Nakayama and Soichiro Irimajiri had to find backers and bankrollers to fund DC outside of Japan.
Okawa didn't just force SEGA to go 3rd Party, he was going to sell off SEGA's IPs as well. SEGA was going to Abandon Gaming ALTOGETHER much like NEC. Yes This was what Okawa wanted. He even tried selling SEGA's IPs to NINTENDO. Nintendo was wise enough to turn down the offer. Sony was planning purchasing the Sonic The Hedgehog IP because of Okawa, I'm DEAD serious. But Okawa's death prevent a Sale Bid.
Back during the Early 2000s, Various SEGA games were published overseas by different Publishers, like Agetec,THQ, Okawa is the reason why. Okawa also left SEGA with a $3.2 Billion deficit that kept climbing.
The man who REALLY saved SEGA is the Current President and Chairman Haijime Satomi. He literally SACRFICED his company Sammy to Save SEGA and help them clear that debt. Sammy themselves were actually sold off piece by piece in 2010 to SEGA Corporation,Inc. As all of Sammy's IPs and divisions are Wholly Owned Subsidarities of SEGA Group Corporation,Inc/Kabushiki Kaisha SEGA.
Regarding Genda,Inc, its nothing. SEGA is basically handing its Amusement Center Operations to a Private Equity Firm and Management Group to handle Operate their Amusement Centers to keep them from closing. This is no different from when Gremlin,Inc operated and managed SEGA's Arcade Centers back in the 80s.

I hope you might make a comeback in making home consoles in the future. ( probably you guys can move on to the Milky Way or something ). This is the hardware class. There should be a software class and a woridwide management crash-course. And having Tom Kalinske as a guest lecturer.
Anyway, amazing stuff, the venus prototype is classy and have much more logical buttons.

16:07, I have this exact Katana GD-ROM with a finished Virtua Fighter 3 on it, used for E3. It has the date and the event hand-written on the disc.
The disc was INSIDE a brand-new Dreamcast that I imported in 1999 from Japan to US. I've had it ever since, never told anyone publicly, but it's probably the grail of my collection. Man, seeing someone else hold that disc is super cool and makes me feel connected to history.

I hope we get a lecture on SEGA's SVP CHIP (Sega Virtua Processor). Where is Virtua Fighter on SVP Chip and Mega Drive? All SEGA Fans must know more!
