Not always the case. Using proper phraseology - Delta 6063 would be pronounced "Delta sixty sixty three." By the way, NCT (Norcal Tracon - the ATC facility primarily responsible for aircraft into SFO) is an awesome awesome place and tops the list for facilities that I want to work at once I graduate the academy!
not all pilots/ATC guys say niner -- tho most do. it's acceptable either way. niner was instituted to differentiate the numeral nine from the german word for no, "nein". the phraseology was original established by NATO. really old school phraseology was pronouncing three as "tree" and five as "fife".
im flying to miami on a 737-700 i dont even know if i have a seat im on standby its overbooked for august 16 i dont want to pay 60 dollars for econamy plus ill wait until 24 hrs so i get free upgrade
